yes, superior in every way :)

only drawback is you have to pay for live :(
It's really not that much money.

If you can't or don't want to get a gaming PC I'd go with the 360. I don't know what the people who complain about the RROD do to their console but I got it once a few years ago, got it fixed, and it's never been a problem since. As for media streaming and Blu-Ray on the PS3...when I buy a gaming console I want to do just that: play games. I honestly could not care less about media streaming and the like. I know a lot of people do but I'll never understand why it's such a huge selling point. Plus the 360 has Left 4 Dead. That alone is enough to make me want to keep it.

ill say, im happy with my PS3, its a solid console, if you want to change it for a 360, then listen here, dont do it until the jasper systems come out later this year. otherwise your 360 will most probably die and yes, i have many friends who have bought 360's in the past 6 months and they are already screwing up. so as i said, wait till the jasper systems come out, go look it up and read about them, they are much more reliable then the current 360 systems out atm.

I love how people justify the PS3 because "All 360 come to PC eventually" - Whilst this has some element of truth, the fact that you'd need a monolithic PC to run the games anywhere near the 360's graphical level & without slow down is a huge hole in the argument.

I own both, and though I got the PS3 just for the exclusive titles, so far they've been a let down, MGS4 was passable, but KZ2 and LBP have been grossly overrated in my opinion, plus XBL leaves PSN in the dust, free or otherwise.
Not only that some people don't like playing on thier PC. I can sit in a chair at my desk looking at a 19 inch monitor or I can kick back and relax while playing on a 32 inch tv.

As for the OP well it is all about the games. If MS as more of the games you want go nuts. Don't worry about the RROD that is just a fanboy defense mechanism. I have had a 360 for years and never had it happen to me.
I'm pretty sure they just keep fixing the 360 you sent in and sending it back, because once you have a 360 RROD once... it'll keep happening and happening and happening.

I know someone who is on their seventh 360 this year, from RROD. Despite following their every request.

Another friend's 360 died, same week he bought it. NEW. So don't tell ME it's "just a fanboy defense mechanism". All three consoles this gen are pretty bad.

I've heard myths and legends of working 360's, yet they don't even exist on display in stores. That's how often I see a RROD 360.

Hi I'm thinking of doing the above today, can anyone think of a good reason I shouldn't? I don't care for MGS or FF or GOW because they're crap. The main reasons I got a ps3 almost a year ago, was because I thought LBP would be amazing and for games like Ico and Heavy Rain, and also flow and such. I new that games I liked such as football games and FPS's would be better on 360, but I thought I'd make that concession. Besides, I thought that maybe the 360 would become redundant soon, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. Still now, they new cry engine is being tested on both consoles and guess what, the 360 version is better as usual.

I found LBP to be a major let down. I was really looking foward to all the mechanical inventions that would be made, but the focus seemed to be more on platforming and visual style, and the creation tools were clunky.

The bloody controller compromises all action games with those god awfull analogue sticks. The online is terrible when it works.

I think I can live without ICO and Heavy Rain, besides, I could buy another ps3 in some years when it's cheaper.

So can anyone think of a good reason why I shouldn't make he swap appart from the feeling of having thrown away a hundred quid or so?
No, just save for a 360 and own both.. it's always been worth it to have every console... even if it feels like a waste and you're never playing it think about when exclusives come out? You don't want to be left in the dark... (God of War III anyone?)

News to me.

It seems that there are horror stories of "MY FRIEND IS ON THEIR TENTH 360 THIS MONTH, ALSO BILL GATES KILLED MY PETS AND FAMILY" and other people like myself who either had the RROD once and never again or people who have never gotten it.

Again, I must wonder how the former category treats their consoles if the RROD literally happens that often.

Think of it this way... I own all three, sure I put a lot of money into it, but a month after owning all of them you won't notice and your financial state should be fine, I rarely play Wii but you know what, I'm glad I haven't sold it because MadWorld is one seriously badass game, PS3 I use for watching BluRays... and again the exclusives are always a seller (Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, LBP, GoW3, Uncharted 2, etc) but the bulk of my time does go to 360 (mostly because I have like 14~ days playtime on CoD4/ but the 360 is great for online and has a very connective community sense while still managing to have a competitive atmosphere).... All in all you'll never get your money's worth for selling /trading consoles or games.

Quite well, actually. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a WORKING 360. I'm completely serious. The 360's in store fronts die frequently here for reasons unknown. It's very confusing.

i guess it does come down to taste though because (as I didn't read before) you don't seem to care about God of War or FFXIII (which will be on 360 anyways lol)

Both systems have their selling points & their flaws. I chose the X-Box 360 mainly because it was out way before the PS3 & had better titles (still does IMO). I do have to admit that I'm on my 4th one however. The 1st two died due to the "red ring of death", but luckily I had the extended GameStop warranty on them & got them replaced at no cost to me (Microsoft wasn't quite sure what the RRoD was at that time). The 3rd one for some reason or another refused to read discs that were in perfect condition. I took that one back & only had to pay the difference to go from a Pro model to the Elite. The Elite model has been serving me well ever since & I love being able to stream movies instantly via Netflix. The question I'm faced w/ anymore is do I get a game for the 360 or the PC if it's readily available for both. To be honest, I usually go for the PC because I built one that could wipe the floor w/ any of today's consoles on the market for a little over $500. Still though, when titles are only on consoles, I'd stick w/ the 360.

I don't know what to tell you, man. I've seen plenty of working 360s. I'm by no means a Microsoft fangirl but I've never encountered these perpetually RROD'ing 360s. I got mine about three years ago, even after taking some abuse (being left on all night by my little brother, being moved to an entirely new house, etc) it's still chugging along quite well. Maybe it's just the new ones?

Maybe, but I mean I've NEVER seen a working 360, and this means since it's release. They've always seemed rather prone to dying without any adequately explained reason from Microsoft. Maybe it's environmental? I don't know. Last I heard they cheaped out on components, and this was why it was so prone to dying.

Either way, makes me sceptical on the trusting-microsoft front.

LA Noire isn't coming to 360??
Well that sucks.
OK, just read that they reckon it will come out on both; it's just been announced for the PS3 so far though. Yay! I get to play as Marlowe!

I have both, and to be blunt and honest....there really is no difference 90% of the time...

sure blu-ray is snazy for movies, but it's not effecting the games, visually they are the same other than some minor colour differences,

biggest differences are " whats exclusive for what"

when it comes to online....egh, I'd give Microsoft the point there, even if live gold costs a little ( which it's still really really cheap)

Though I admit I don't do much online play..I mostly use live for getting Downloaded content ( which ps does not get most of the time if at all, I don't even check anymore)

and I use it for streaming netflix, and going through their video library, downloading game demos and such..

but still.. it's up to you...Both have ups, both have downs, but in the end there really is no difference between the two where it matters most.
Same here, my PS3 is used mainly for PS2 games (I only have 3 PS3 games for it) though as it's not connected to the internet in my dorm room. My 360 on the other hand is what I use for online gaming and for playing in short bursts.

On my PS3 I download things since it has an 80gb hard drive, even though I am a bit of an achievement whore and want to download a few games on XBLA but I can't because I only have 5gb free....

Back on topic, no console has any real major exclusives this year so it's really a matter of preference. If you really want a 360, then we shouldn't try to persuade you other wise.

This has just become a flame war and we havent solved the guys problem. I think you should look at the upcoming releases for both consoles and see which sounds more suited to you. To be honest with you I would keep the PS3 as it is only two years into its ten year lifespan so it'll take a while for developers to get the most out of it.

Red Ring Of Death?

I got through 4 360's in a month before reverting back to a PS2
Doesn't the 360 come with a 3 year warrantee nowdays?
Eventually the warranty doesn't matter when you're faced with so much frustration. God forbid I expect to be able to use a device I bought for more than a week at a time. (Went through 5 myself before giving up and getting a PS3. It's ok, I guess.)

Get both. I have had 2 RRODs and bought a PS3 after the second one. Now I have the two of them and only play 360 exclusives on the Xbox. Every multiplat game I get for the PS3, unless there's exclusive 360 dlc.
