Even though I haven't had the patience to finish watching that stupid movie, its existance is enough to piss me off.
What happen to Shyomolalan? Did he lose his mind? Or he enjoys creating crappy movies?

BTW, I didn't get confused about the thread title because I call the other movie Giant Smurfs in Space. The real Avatar is the cartoon starring Aang.

And yes, the argument for making a movie crappy only because it's made for children is the same though George Lucas had when he made The Phantom Menace, and see how much hate that got. Kids are not idiots!

I looked it up and this seems to be a rumor.
The news outlets that have actual inside info from Hollywood studios are silent about it.

In short, it's fake.

Look, if he wants to make a movie for 9 year olds let him make a movie for 9 year olds. It doesn't have to be good. It's for 9 year olds. I remember all the stupid shit I liked when I was 9. Most kids like stupid shit. It's harmless. Get over it. You still have your precious animated series. I didn't flip out when Michael Bay decided to make The Transformers despite it being one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. I just didn't like the movie and that was the end of it. Kids loved it and that's OK.

Someone sit that poor director in front of a TV and have him watch the shows 9 and 10 year-olds are watching today. The rest of the TV industry already seems to understand that "meant for kids" doesn't have to mean condescendingly simple-minded.
These two posts are sitting right next to each other. They don't go together! Somebody split them apart!

*Also echoes the gazillion responses made in the posts above already about how obviously fake and rumorishy this is*

Somewhere in Minnesota the Rifftrax guys find a script that has mysteriously written itself long before the movie has even been released. The conservation of energy has been utterly broken as it appears to have manifested out of thin air of its own volition. It speaks directly to ones mind:
"We've got movie signs!"

]No way... this has to be a joke. After how notoriously awful the first film was? There's no way anyone would let him make another one.

If this isn't a joke, though, I'm oddly excited for this. It's like if they were to announce a new Battlefield Earth, I need to see how shitty this one will be.

EDIT: Especially since this is suppose to be Book 2, which is Earth, and we all know how amazing earthbending was in the film:

Easily the best scene in the whole movie. Earth Bender chorus line baby!

Oh, M. Night. So sad. The reason Avatar is so beloved is because, yes it's a kid show, but it had depth. It had story. It had characters that weren't stock characters.
Basically, it had things that kids could enjoy, but also plenty of things that teens and adults could sink their teeth into as well.

Megan Fox's naked body... I'm sorry, what were we talking about again? Oh, right. Sorry.

Plot twist: The next movie is actually pretty darn good.

I'm not even really a fan of the series, but damn... No one deserves to have a series they like defiled in such a way. My most sincere condolences.

Adam Jensen is implying kids purposefully watch AND enjoy stupid, poor quality TV and movies while you are implying the opposite, or at the very least implying that creators don't have to cater down to such a majority of kids to make something of good quality that such kids can also enjoy. Your posts disagree with each other on principle, but are sitting one below the other. That's what I was getting at. In other words, that's the joke.

you know what I'm actually excited for this movie. I know it's going to be terrible but it's fun to watch horrible movies and talk shit about them

it would be better to have an avatar movie be made by a competent director but we all know that's not going to happen

Yeah, thanks for that because now I feel like McBain. youtube.com/watch?v=R5SRqVSwv9E (I would have embedded the video but recently I haven't been able to do that in the forums and I didn't feel like tagging a word as the link). Nah, you're alright.

You're excited over rumors and fake news then...sorry this got your hopes up. Don't worry. One day? You'll get to watch another horrible movie and talk shit about it. Just wait for that day.
