Hikaru blushed fiercely and lowered her voice a bit, not that there was anyone around to hear her, "M-Mori?! Oh. No, of course not. I'm sorry. I'm just tired today. Um..." She twirled her pencil in her fingers, doodling in the margins of the budget papers, "How are you? I guess this must kind of be like a vacation for you, huh...?"

She glanced out the window, seeing the boys' dorms in the distance. He was sure to hear about the security changes, so she'd better be up front about them now...

------

Eber's brows furrowed as he chewed and chewed and chewed; it was tasty to be sure, but how on earth was he supposed to swallow it? He managed to wrestle it down, somehow, and gasped for breath, coughing slightly, "I was not expecting quite that texture..." He looked up at Akinari and grinned cheekily.

Takuya chuckled at her stumbling over her words. She was too easy to read. "Oh, so they tired you out yesterday? How shameful of them, Hiki-chan...Tell my grandfather to talk to them. He will be up there today to talk to the review board about Fridmund."

He opened the door to his room, "And as for a vacation, its not really. Grandfather is using the time to train me to run the families private industries...and then their is our house guest. A girl from China...she's boring, but I must be polite to her...." he stopped and looked at himself in the mirror, running his hands through his hair.

"Ah, if only Grandfather would let me pick my own fiance. I would much rather be in the company of a girl such as yourself, Hikaru. That would truly make it a vacation."

Akinari chuckled at his gusto. "I have to get you used to all this food." he leaned over and pat Eber on the back lightly for coughing. "You should really slow down on your eatting. Some of our food fights back!"

Hikaru was so overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness that she face-planted right into her papers, face rivaling the bow on her uniform in terms of shades of red. "That's, oh, that's so kind... D-Don't worry about me, Mo--um. Takuya. I'm getting quite a lot done. I convinced the school board this morning to adopt a new manner of security for the campus dorms... I think you'll approve. Would you like to hear about it?"

------

Eber sighed, taking the second package and opening it, "Is it going to grow appendages in my gut or something...?"

Takuya chuckled, "Yes I would like to hear about them. I'm only gone a day and you're already taking the helm. You're an excellent replacement, as I knew you would be."

Akinari's wild imagination took that question in places it shouldn't. He shuddered. "Ugh, let's hope not. That'd be hard to explain to a doctor..." he wiggled his arms, pretending to be a squid from some incredibly old sea movie. He paused mid pantomime to remind Eber to chew.

"Not a replacement! A substitute... It's only until you return. And that should only be a week or so, shouldn't it?" She blushed at the idea of running the entire student body, a responsibility she doubted she could handle in her current state, "I-In any case, the doors will have automatic locks... They'll only be able to be opened by access cards assigned to each student. It was quite expensive, but the parents involved agreed that it was worth their sizable donations in lieu of the recent--" She paused, not wanting to bring up the maulings, "...'events'. Anyone using the cards after hours will be logged, and I doubt they'll be able to sneak back in by waiting until morning..."

------

He had to cover his mouth to keep from spitting the masticated squid back out at the boy's odd impressions; after swallowing, he shook his head. "Squid is not so bad... Though I suppose it is not the strangest thing I have had since I came here." He tilted his head, doing his best to seem grateful, "I much prefer your cooking."

He doubled over with laughter, watching Eber struggle to keep food in his mouth. "Then you'll be happy. I made a big lunch today. You'll be training a lot, right? I made sure to pack it full of everything you could need."

Takuya nodded as she explained, "Indeed those are excellent improvement's, Hikaru. You've done a wonderful job." He changed his clothes while he spoke to her, "And I should be back in a week, but until then, you are in charge. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise...And I hope you don't mind if I call you each day? I'm concerned for the school...and you. Anyway, I will let you go now. Have a good day."

He hung up before she could respond and tossed the bed. Convincing the faculty and parents to install a new security system. And so quickly...dare he say Seiya may be too affective? But what's done was done, and it was a nice touch. Nothing short of tracking devices under the little bastards' skin. Ah...if only.

"Have a good--" Hikaru sighed as the line was cut off, murmuring, "...day." She went back to her papers, but found she could hardly focus on them. So much to keep track of lately... She piled them neatly together and filed them away to work on after the school day ended, choosing instead to get to class.

------

Eber reached over and ruffled the other boy's hair affectionately, "Thanks, Akinari. ...Ah." He looked up when the homeroom teacher entered and frowned when his name was called. After last night, he'd almost entirely forgotten about the repercussions of his duel with Mori. He stood and was immediately directed out of the room and to the principal's office. Class began without him.

Class in 2-B begins as well. The hours drag on as usual. Those of you who spent last night in the underground can hardly keep your eyes open while the teachers drone on about history, math--things that rarely seem important even at your most lucid. If you are not drooling into your textbook, your eyes fix on the clock above the instructor's head, counting down until lunch...

Finally, the bell rings. You are free to enjoy the lunch period--or sleep.

Kumiko finally picked her head up from her text book, she rubbed her brow completely sure that the text must be imprinted onto her forehead by now. She stretched languidly. "That's right..." she turned her head to look back at Kojiro, Junsui, and Yoshida. She sighed deeply and fought with herself to actually get up and approach them. "Um...Hi. So...are...we going to talk about this at all? Or just pretend it never happened." she kept her voice low. The last thing she needed was for someone to overhear and get the wrong idea. Thought even that would probably be better than the truth.

-----

Akinari took out the lacquered box and set it all out on his desk. He started his meal, placing his palms together, and muttering the standard Japanese saying for such an instance. He kept a thin plastic sheet over Eber's half so it would not harden from being exposed to air for too long.

The boy began to eye the clock. What did they need him so long for? He was getting upset that his food was going untouched.

Kojiro picked his head up and yawned. "Oh we need to find and talk to Seiya-senpai..." He rubbed his head, "That's right you ditched before she got there...Isoroku seems to think she has a persona too. She was at the train station with a weapon."

He stood up and started to pack his bag, "I have no clue where we're meeting her though..."

Hikaru waited in the library by the windows with her arms folded, hoping Rin would remember to stop by.

Kumiko nearly panicked, she grimacing as pressed her finger to her lips in a shushing manner. "Don't say things that loud like they're normal." he wasn't even talking above a normal speaking level, but for something like this Kumiko wasn't going to take the chance of slipping. "She was out last night too? That is pretty strange...and yeah, sorry about walking out like that. Have you guys thought about a place to discuss this stuff?"

Rin barely heard the lunch bell sound. Her exhaustion had caught up with her, and she'd had trouble making it through the last hour of class. She recalled Seiya had requested to see her in the library during lunch. Rin gave a sigh 'As if I could actually say no.' She grabbed her bag and weakly stood up. She glanced over and saw Kojiro speaking with Kumiko. Deciding she was too nervous to go alone, she approched Kojiro. "Um Kojiro-san, could I um talk to you for a moment."

Kojiro shook his head; it felt odd having Kumiko so close. He moved her hand and muttered a sorry. Probably the first time he ever did such a thing involuntarily for her. He turned to Isoroku and whispered, "What do you --" He stopped mid sentence and nodded at Rin. "Be right back," he stood up and groggily followed the quiet girl.

"What is it?"

Rin felt her worry come to the surface when she faced Kojiro. "I um, had a run in with Seiya-sempai this morning. She wanted me to meet her in the library. Um What do you think I should do?" She hoped her face wasn't showing her worried she felt. 'What if she changed her mind about last night.' She hoped Kojiro would say something to make her feel more at ease.

Kumiko blinked a few times, staring forward at where Kojiro used to be standing, feeling a bit put off. He just stopped an important conversation in her book to go talk to Junsui about what? A problem. She crossed her arms looking quite upset. "Well, that was a bit rude..." she looked at Yoshida, "You think this is important, right?"

Kojiro scratched his head, "She wants to meet you? That's great!" He smiled, "We'll tag a long and listen in. Just act natural." He normally wouldn't suggest such a thing, but he was still upset about the added security. He rubbed his chin, "Let's ask Isoroku. He seems to already have an idea involving what Seiya could have been doing down there..."

He walked back over to Isoroku and Kumiko ndd presented Rin's information. "What do you think? Should we confront her head on or just listen in?"

She glared if only for a second. There was no reason to still be upset. "Why should we confront her? I mean we don't know if she really has one. And I think it would be fairly obvious if we were all just 'hanging out' in the area where Junsui is supposed talk with her. Even more so because, hello, Seiya-senpai knows that we don't work well together." she pointed at herself and Kojiro. "That'd be like walking up to her and just saying 'Hey, we're just gonna eavesdrop, kay?' If anything, you guys stay away and let me go with Junsui. You said she popped up after I left, right? Then she doesn't know I was there. Less obvious that way?"
