Kojiro gets up early Sunday. He has lots to do. His mother is resting so he cooks breakfast for himself and his siblings and grandmother. The only awake with him is his baby brother Thomas. He's only seven and they share a room so when he wakes up Tommy wakes up.
There's grocery shopping to do, the house to clean and grandmother to take care of all before work. Tsuki and Tsubasa are the next to wake up. The twins are twelve and share a room with Karin. Only Karin and Tommy have brown hair, but only Tsubasa, Karin and Kojiro have curly hair. Tommy got stuck with black eyes. By the time all his sibling are awake breakfast is ready. Karin complained - surprise- about the meal selection. Tsuki and Tsubasa fought over each others food - double surprise. And Tommy any time Kojiro stopped watching him tried to throw his food.
Ah...his siblings...were going to drive him into a murderous rampage. "Karin," he interrupted her story about the modeling audition yesterday, "Will you see to it that the kitchen gets cleaned I have to go take care of Grandma."
"Yeah fine..." She turned back to Tsuki, who was curious about the whole event.
He got up and made a plate of food for his grandmother and traveled to the back room. His grandmother and mother shared a room. he had to wake up his mom first and let her know breakfast was ready. He and his siblings of course got their unusual traits from her. Her hair was cut short, but it was curly and brown, and her eyes were hazel colored. Once she left, he would tend to his grandmother.
He made it a point to never speak to her while anyone else was in the room.
"...Mother." He rocked her shoulder gently, "Mother its me." He said quietly. He watched stoned face as his grandmother opened her eyes.
"Ah, Nobu," He lifted her hand to touch his face, "My son has come to see me today...are we leaving."
He grit his teeth and shook his head. "No, Mother, I still have to work out of town. Marion and the kids are still going to take care of you...But I came to sit with you for breakfast today." Inwardly he sighed. Everyday, the same thing...'Nobu' was his father. His grandmother too far gone to realize he was dead. But she seemed to think Kojiro was him. So every weekend he came home and sat with her.
It was the only time she seemed happy his mother told him. But he loathed it. No one else had to sit here, in this dark room. Next to a dying body. Listening to her suffocate on her own breath. "I don't want her to take care of me...that son of yours...I never see him. He's lazy and ungrateful, Nobu."
"Sshh-" Kojiro didn't have time for her today. He had lots to do. "Let's talk about your grievances with them later, Mother." He stirred up her food and started to feed her. It would be a long hour.
