A few weeks back I found a shiny Poliwhirl in my copy of Black. You can bet I caught that sucker.
I remember I caught a shiny Golbat (now Crobat) in either Platinum or Heart Gold. I don't ever seem to find more than one wild, shiny Pokemon in any of my games. But then I guess that's part of the charm.

Yeah, a few I think. I only remember one. It was a fucking Swinub. Seriously. That was my shiny pokemon. I'd feel really sorry for anyone who caught a shiny Magikarp though...

Never found any other than the Red Gyarados you have to encounter anyway in G/S/C/HG/SS. I have terrible luck with shinys.

I've encountered about 3 shinys.
The first one was a shiny Magnemite. But I wasn't aware of shiny pokemon then and I'd missed the sparkle animation. I went back to the game, looked at it and just though "Huh.. why is it coloured wierd?" then ran. Stupid, stupid me >>;
The 2nd one was on Gold. I'd healed my pokemon and found I had pokerus. Then 5 mins later whilst leveling up Togepi, I found a shiny spinarak, which I caught this time x3
And the last one, on HG, was a gold Caterpie. I accidently caught the 'run' button and nearly kicked myself. (I thought in the old games shiny pokemon couldnt be fled from ><)

Never. Sucks, man. I didn't even know you could get shinies that aren't Gyarados until I discovered Bulbapedia in 2008. AND I've been playing sicne the beginning and put about 150 hours into each of the 9 games I've owned.
As a side note, apparantly there is a bug in the games (to do with catch rates or something) that means the Master Ball could fail on a pokémon, Although the chace of that happening is something like 6000 times more unlikely than finding a shiny.
I guarantee my master ball will fail before I get a discoloured poké.

I am pretty sure that when a shiny pokemon evolves that the pokemon it evolves into is automatically shiny. With haunter, I think the major difference is the color of the inside of it's mouth being blue instead of red.escapistrules said:

I have never legitimately found a shiny before, and I've played every game up until now. I finally got fed up with it and hacked myself a level 3 shiny onix which turned into a solid gold Steelix with diamond studded teeth and ruby encrusted eyes.
That is some serious good luck (About finding two within 3 hours, seriously, there's like a 8 in 64,000 of finding one...) and VERY serious bad luck (About them getting away)xdom125x said:
Personally I have several shiny Pokemon on my Pokemon Platinum version, although I chained to find all of them. I have 4 Shiny Kirlias, A shiny Gallade and Gardeviour, 2 shiny Staravias, a Shiny Cleffa and a Shiny Roserade.
My worst Shiny fail was I found a shiny Azelf (I know, right?) And accidentally killed it with confusion damage. I was mega-sad. After learning how to chain, I managed to get 6 shiny Kirlias in one chain. Which was awesome. The chain was only about 54, too
Some shinies are cool, some are just lazy and/or poor color design.
