aniel Graves

Description: From a young age it was apparent that Daniel had a natural aptitude for machinery of all kind. By the age of 20 Daniel had already received his degree in engineering, to the chagrin of his well-to-do family. After a particularly fierce conflict with his father Daniel decided to try his luck off-world, serving on a number of ships until finally landing himself a position aboard the renowned flagship of the planetcracker fleet, the USG Ishimura. Soon after things promptly went straight to hell....
The cacophony of agonized screams, gunshots, and inhuman howls that had reverberated throughout the Ishimura had finally come to an end, with only the occasional staccato burst of gunfire to mark the passing of another crew member or monstrous former crew member. Daniel had long stopped counting them, because it hardly seemed to matter anymore. The ship was in the hands...claws of those monsters now. For every remaining human they killed another one of their kind would awaken, and soon there would be no-one left for them to hunt. Well, except for him of course.
With that grim thought Daniel momentarily glanced down at the plasma cutter cradled loosely in his hand, not for the first time. " No way am I going to end up like that", he declared vehemently to himself. Glancing around at the monitors that surrounded him painted a rather dark picture for the near future however. The Ishimura was stuck in a decaying orbit over the colony world, and there was no one else around to correct it. If something wasn't done soon there wouldn't be much left of the monsters or the ship.
The room Daniel was hiding in was located only a floor away from the bridge, but he had heard something large moving around up there when he first ran to the elevator. Now he simply sat there and hid, watching as the monitors showed the ship's condition growing worse and worse. The Ishimura's comm's array was disabled as well, preventing him from so much as calling for help.
Finally he had enough of sitting around. It had been bad enough watching Ensign Lovell die, pulled screaming into a vent until only his horrified face remained hanging out. But now he was going to sit around and watch everyone left on the ship die? Not a chance. Pushing himself out of the chair he grabbed a nearby canister of medi-gel and headed over to the elevator. As the doors slid closed a single thought crossed his mind: " If the ship is falling to pieces, it's an engineer's duty to fix it, right?"
