I agree that this story is over as soon as the DLC all plays out.

Thedas, though, according to the in-game lit at least, seems to be huge. Fereldan is a tiny part of the world. How about a sequel in Orlais?

There are too many other places to visit.... Amaranthine, Orlais, Par Vollen, perhaps we could see some of the other lost Thaigs in the Deep Roads....

My only wish for the next one is more MAGE storylines! The Mage tree had SOOOO many good spell combinations that having only one origin story for them seemed kind of bad.... why not an Apostate origin?

I just want playable Qunari in the sequel so I can finally fulfill all of my girlish fantasies of being a seven foot bronzed and dreadlocked Kirk-Douglas-meets-Dennis-Hopper-King-Koopa beeftank.

That is one helluva specific fantasy, but one you have clearly put a lot of thought into :)

Haven't Bioware already said it will take place a few hundred years later?
What is wrong with you! This was getting lively! And here you go, splashing reality all over everything. I'm with Jenova here, killjoy! ;) Just for that I plan to brag how wonderful GOW3 is for weeks on end.

[sup]okay no I won't, that would be too wicked. But I could! just keep that in mind... [/sup]
Ooooh that would be cruel... !

I get that a lot.
Are you trying to make me feel bad for you?? ;-)

I know it, and it vexes me so! Of course, I'm sure we're driving all the lads on this forum absolutely batty with all this talk, so I swear it, this is the last of it. No more. Instead, I shall focus my energies on the fact that I still think Antiva should be the setting of DA2.

Antiva would be awesome. I think all the political intrigue from the Crows running things would make for an exciting story.
I would like to see a game where you could explore the 'rest', of the world, focussing on the Crows in Antiva, the secret life of the bards in Orlais etc. They have potentially a very large world to explore.

There was another thread that touched on some of the issues why then next DA would be difficult as a direct sequel. I think it was the article about Oghren being in Awakenings. It doesn't duplicate this thread, but some people mentioned some things I hadn't even thought about.

If you think about it, there are only two characters who cannot die in DA. Oghren (and now it totally makes sense to me that he is the character they brought back for the expansion) and Morrigan. Everyone else at some point or another can be killed. That would make it extremely difficult to have a sequel that featured them in any way.

That being said, I think they could easily reference some things. But a direct sequel would be a programming nightmare. Personally, I think that is why they included the epilogue, to kind of complete the story. Some of those epilogue stories go quite a ways into the future.

I think I might like to see some of the other areas. Antiva would be really interesting; the whole city is supposedly run by the Crows. It would make for a great setting, with or without the darkspawn. Grey Wardens are obviously awesome, and it would be great to include them, but they'll have to keep coming up with reasons to bring back the darkspawn for the Grey Wardens to have much influence on the plot of the next game. Supposedly, blights only happen once every few hundred years. Okay, and now I'm admitting to knowing far to much about the DA universe. I'm off before I out myself any further!
Maybe the Grey Wardens should busy themselves with other problems rather than sit on their ass waiting for the next blight, Jeez, talk about
''Is it a blight?'',
''Well no.... but'',
''Oh, sorry, not our problem then, love to help, love to, but our hands are tied''....... ;-)
ha! Yes, so true. I think it does say something about them generally helping out when people are in trouble in the DA wiki, which I have spent waaaaay too much time reading. They are supposed to be the best and the brightest after all. Maybe they just don't feel missions are challenging enough without the darkspawn.

People could try luring Grey Wardens to their troubled villages, round up some darkspawn, put them in a cage or something, then when a Grey Warden passes by, release them at the most opportune time screaming, "By the Maker! Look! Darkspawn! Won't anybody save us from these vile denizens of the deep!" Everybody knows once you got the Grey Warden's attention you can ask them to do any number of goofy favors, like catching nugs or something.
And you better hand them good xp and/or gold/drops afterwards because that's what them wardens really want when accepting random quests ;)

Well I can't kill Darkspawn with gratitude. Wringing the villagers corpses might net me a few dozen XP though, a couple of copper if I'm lucky.

Have you even tried? I bet you haven't.... Anyone none of them seem to mind you going through their stuff and taking their priceless family heirlooms from the chests they leave on display in their unlocked homes.

Hey, I paid them five gold for that priceless family heirloom. They got their moneys worth, I could only vendor it for like a gold.

And yeah, I did wring a few villagers corpses. They were all evil cultist villagers, but villagers nonetheless.

I think one of them had a Lesser Lyrium Potion, which made slaughtering a bunch of almost defenseless civilians a justifiable course of action.

I got the feeling it wouldn't.

I mean, c'mon, it's going to be at the time of another Blight I'd assume. That's when all the exciting shit happens, plus Bioware like to use new characters, not rehash the old ones continuously.

So to me, that means time shall march on, and we'll see how the world has progressed, travelling to new places perhaps, like Orlais.

Well, to be fair, none of those bastards help you out either, until you do some random quest for them. ;)
"I have this treaty that says..."
"Yes yes yes, that's all fine and good but I have these annoying werewolves I want you to take care of before I will even discuss that."
Their world is about to be overrun by darkspawn, but what the hell, let's solve this whole Hatfields and McCoys feud first. And don't even get me started on the dwarven mess. Those people can talk us heroes into anything.
"Will you fight in this battle for me? It won't actually do anything for me but I'll feel mighty chuffed afterward if you win and then send you off to be a glorified policeman and clean up the streets. After all that, then I'll tell you what I really need to be king."
We earn our loot, yes we do.

Yes, but those corpses don't need that stuff. If we don't take it, someone with a less important mission than ours will. :p If I had to count the number of people I killed in games against my Karma, I'd be an amoeba on a flea on a rat. Oh man, did I just quote Grease? For shame. I think I need to go scrub out my skull now.

Blimey, I only meant karma in the game :-O Imagine if it was actual karma....................
And yeah, you totally quoted Grease, but at least you quoted Grease not Grease 2 *spits* ;-)

That is all. D:

EDIT: Looking forward to Awakening though... Or is it already out? I haven't been paying much attention.
Awakening will be out in about two weeks, I think.

OT: I don't want to go through another Blight. I feel like the story of the Grey Wardens has been told. We saw their recruitment, their fall, their purpose fulfilled, and a hope for rebuilding the Wardens. I'd rather see the world through another faction, preferably a political group. Lets have our character and his faction not start off as so meek. Maybe Ferelden (or Orlais, or wherever) chooses to invade another country and our guy can choose to be for or against this.
