Considering City takes place after Asylum I would recommend you play it. If you really can't get into it, but still want to play City then I'm sure you could look up a playthrough on youtube or something.
Ehhh, I don't know. The game ends with the status quo being restored. Not a lot to continue from. Even the bit after the credits was randomized. So, canonically, you can't really continue from that.
Regardless, he should still play it. It's a fantastic game.

I agree. I was just clearing up any misconceptions of Arkham City being a direct sequel that you have to play the previous game to understand.

One of my favorite games. A very well made game, the combat flows well, the environments are lovely, and the characters are interesting. I actually enjoyed doing the Riddler challenges, which are the "collect 20 of this" of Arkham Asylum. I'm close to getting all the achievements on it. But those darn combat challenges are a pain.

Positive sir.
It's a good game. And a damn good one at that.

There's not a whole lot of replay value, though.

It's a near perfect game that has an okay story with amazing gameplay parts.
The only thing that's bad about it (and this is pretty bad) are the bosses.
Other than that though, great game:
Great characters
Great voice acting
great fighting mechanics
Good stealth mechanics (they were good but I thought there were some parts that could have been better; but don't get me wrong, I had great fun in them)
Actually challenging gameplay
Very difficult challenge rooms for those who want extra.
Overall, it is a fantastic game and just a blast to play.

Picture this game in your mind, and tell me if it sounds fun.

Ok, so you're Batman...

Were you waiting for more? YOU PLAY AS BATMAN! I could talk about the phenomenal gameplay and the good balance of puzzle/stealth an action, or i could reiterate...you get to be batman for a few hours. Get it!

It isn't to much. I think you can get it for something like $15-20 used at GameStop.

Great game though. But I only played through it once. Still, if you can get it cheap, then yes, give it a playthrough if you are on the fence

No.
Why not? Because it "didn't grab you". If you didn't like the demo, you won't like the game, so why play it?
Same goes for Arkham City. You won't like it either.

I've had this dilemma for a while now. I did play the demo when it came out. I was kinda excited for it, but the demo disappointed me.
As for Arkham City, it hasn't really grabbed me visually. It all just seems like a mish-mash of the usual generic gritty superhero stuff. I've heard that it's open world, but I haven't seen much of it. All the screenshots I've seen just seem to be close ups of goon being punched into mashed potato by Bats.

Personally I'm still wondering why a game like Ultimate Spider-Man didn't get a sequel. I'd just love to see a really visually different superhero game come out soon.

Lots of nice Batman Trivia and a great semi-open world environment to explore.

It's probably not important to Arkham City, but you should play it because it's a freaking amazing game. The combat is some of the best melee combat ever, full stop.

I'll play it for you.
I've been replaying the demo and actually (after reading a lot of Batman comics) I really want to play it.

Like, a lot.

[sub]Stupid exams.[/sub]

And yeah, I'd get Asylum before City.

I picked up the game knowing full well of the hype, and was skeptical if it could live up it.

Short answer: it fucking can.

It is a great game. Play it.
What this guy said. :'D

I'm not even a Batman fangirl.

(A Harley Quinn fangirl, on the other hand..)
