I played the trial and there was nothing to do at my level except grind and grind and grind. So I gave up and played something that's actually fun, not repetitive and didn't take up so much time.

Play the trial.
If you like it, play it.
If you don't, don't play it.

Personally, I like World of Warcraft...

Personally I wouldn't because it's incredibly expensive and think it's very boring.

But download and try the free trial they have to see if you think it's worth it. I can't make the decision for you.
It's not incredibly expensive. It costs some money but 13 € a month isn't what I call "incredibly expensive".

The free trial isn't really that good of a solution because honestly the game first starts to kick in when you are 80. Also the first like 20 levels are really boring and don't really show you how the game feels like.

The best way to know if you like it is to play a lvl 80 char for a week or so. Maybe one of your friends has one and he gives you the username and password.
Hey for me £8 a month to play a game that even you claim is boring for a good portion of the playtime, is a hell of a lot. If a game isn't interesting from the start I wouldn't play it.

depends do you have alot of time on your hands?
are you afraid of becoming addicted?
are you or do you ever intend to be in an intimate relationship?
What does that have to do with WoW? You can say that about any game. Though its still just a stupid stereotype people cling on to.

Ok dude you need a decision....no don't play WoW, A) kills any chance of having a normal social life, and more importantly means you'll never get laid again, B) You will lose your job if you have one, get fat, lose your house/apartment maybe (and if so start living on the streets as a homless alcholic), or just spend every waking moment eating/playing WoW, then eventually die alone....not that I've ever played it
I like how people that have never played the game voice there opinion on what it's like to play it.

Anyways.

Play it, if you dont like it then don't play it

I play it, I have a life, a good job, a Bachelors degree, a GF, A house, A car.

Just keep your priorities straight and all will be fine.

(don't play champions online, it sucks)

Get this game if you played the Warcraft games and like the story, because lets face it, there probably won't be a WC4 coming out.

Here's my personal take on the game: It can be fun if you have friends to play with (which as you stated you do). The leveling can be quite fun, although there are slow moments (not unlike any other MMO).

With the end game, I kind of lost interest with the daily grinding for gold and tokens to get better gear, but if you do get into a decent guild that can do the high level raids (think of it as a special dungeon with bosses and phat lewts), things get interesting again as they are very well crafted.

I'm all for paying for a game that I'm going to enjoy, but paying MONTHLY for a game in order to enjoy it... personally I'd save your money. In say, 10 years you'd spend paying out a boatload of cash to play it, you could probably buy a second hand car or something.
$15 X 12 months X 10 years = $1800

Sorry but I would rather get 10 years worth of entertainment than a car that'll break down every 10km or so ;)

Yeah, the money *really* isn't an issue except to some kids. The time is an issue.

Now, some people certainly use comparable amounts of time to watch bad programming on TV - this is no worse and no better, IMO. But I don't think it's a good habit. I don't think people look back either at their rerun-of-a-rerun watching or reality-TV watching or their WoW sessions and tell themselves, "damn, it was a good thing I put three thousand hours into this".
