You kill everything else, right? Why not children?
I really don't see the issue. Can someone give me the other side of the argument?
A lot of people including myself would think it odd at the best, and worrying at the worst, for someone to get pleasure out of killing a child on a game. I don't understand people who want this, surely it goes against your parental instincts (which all normal adults possess, regardless of whether they actually have kids or not).
I don't get pleasure out of it, trust me, that would be repulsive. I want this because I value immersion. Sure, killing children should be seen as more evil in games, (much more evil) and should punished harder by the AI police, guards, or what have you. I just want to know I have the freedom to do it. I know it sounds like a weak argument, but it's very real to me.

I don't see why not.
It shouldn't be a required part of the game meaning you have to kill them, but they should still be there. To kill or to save, or just ignore.

I understand what you mean, I like games to be immersive as possible to, it's just the idea of it seeems so repulsive to me that it makes me want to go into a hulk-like rage on anyone who would enjoy it, which lets face it some sick people would. That's just my point of view anyway, most people here to seem to agree with you but atleast you've heard the "other side of the argument" so you can make up your own mind :)

HA!If you can kill innocent adults then whats the difference? And what about people who aren't innocent? Shouldn't we be trying them before of a jury of their peers? And what about that war? Sure it might have been technically legal, but was it really right? What if the laws are based on an outdated moral code that can't differentiate between victims and criminals? Sure he takes illegal narcotics but the WHO reckons most of those are safer then the leading legal narcotic! And what about all the money that you and I spent on playing a game where we run around killing things and didn't spend on providing anti-malarials for kids in Uganda? And that doesn't even include the time we spent playing the game, or on this website...

Absolutely, if it comes naturally in the game. Like Fallout 3 for instance, you could go on a rampage and kill EVERYONE except the two kids in that building. <.<
I don't believe that making a game which story is based on killing children would be such a hugh success though.

I really hope the guy you quoted there was joking. This sort of thinking is exactly what's causing every sort of bullshit censorship. Children aren't sacred, or at least not any more than adults are.
I wasn't joking, in my personal beliefs children are (for need of a better word) "sacred", and it's every adults duty to protect and care for them. Anyone who wants to kill children on a video game is going against everything I believe makes you human.

Absolutely. I never understood why children are this strange holy grail that cannot be harmed. If you can kick an innocent woman down a flight of stairs, shoot out both her knee caps, piss on her face and the dowse her in gasoline and watch her burn, there is no reason you should not be able to kill kids in games.

I did get what I was looking for, and I thank you for sharing honestly! Let me just say I can see what you are saying about it being repulsive, and I agree, there are people who would... abuse this freedom...
I'm definitely going to give this some serious thought to see where I stand.
