My face is that of a giant guinea pig!

*looks at avatar* *looks back at picture* You're right, it's uncanny! No wonder you look so badass, you totally must be part guinea pig on your father's side.
"My mother was a hamster and my father smelled like eddiberry!"

Some say I look like my favourite animal. The slow and dopey turtle.

For those of you who don't choose to be honest with who they are, why do you hide behind an avatar which is not a picture of yourself? Be honest people, show me who you really are!
to those who are wondering, yes the picture in my profile is me.

Who exactly are you anyway? Why are we suddenly obliged to reveal our identities to you?

I didn't realise you commanded the authority of the Holy Inquisition.
NO-ONE EXPECTS THE HOLY INQUISITION!!!

Mine is a real picture of me.

I'm a fuzzy squirrle in Norman, Ok. I'm able to post by getting into some sucker's dorm and using his computer. :)

I chose my avatar because it represents me better than a picture of me could. What does my physical appearance have to do with 'who I really am' however? Most of it isn't under my control, and so could hardly be argued to represent 'who I am', simply 'what I look like'.
This

My picture and Facebook link are on my profile, but I identify with my avatar, seeing as how he's my aspiration in life.

I always use my face as my avatar, so if I truely rub somebody up the wrong-way they have a headstart on tracking me down and smacking me in the gob. I'm sure I would (have) deserved it. No private messages please ladies... I'm spoken for. Sorry.

@ OP: Short answer is, I'm paranoid.

Long Answer: I want to not have this forum be something that turns up when a potential employer goes looking for my name or photo on google. Not because I'm ashamed of the opinions and thoughts I express here, but because the fact that I am a gamer, gamer geek, and a bit of a movie geek is potentially a bad influence on prospective employment. Also, I'm paranoid.

2 cellphone pictures I took last week:

I just noticed that my hair looks really short, but actually it's still chin-length. I just tied it together to a ponytail.

You can find a few older pics of me over here. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.163217-Behind-the-avatar?page=10#4218696]

My avatar features a quote by my ex-boyfriend-but-still-best-friend-I've-ever-had. He was Let's Playing Alan Wake and it's a pretty famous quote among his fanbase.

Escapist isn't like Facebook, Escapist is a community with anonymity. plus our avatars represent us better than most of our pictures, I think.

Where'd you get that mask? I want one.
Sacman said:
It's a little old, from when I was fat, but my hair is the same...<.<
I hope you're happier now, you look awful sad there.
Mackheath said:
Its the hair that does it; might not be animooted but there is still a resemblance. At least you don't look like a cross between a vampire and a Proclaimer, which is what I do. ^.-
Now this I gotta see.

Oh, pic on my profile if you really want to see.
What mask that is my face! (you have to make it yourself)

Well, I think it's coming a bit loose. You should stick it on again.
(I envy your mask-making skills)

Personally im not too fussed about you random guys and gals from the internet knowing what I look like.

I do however fear people I know in the real world finding out who I am on here and judging me on things I have said with my identity hidden.

Where people dont know who you are your true thoughts can be expressed that much easier.

Mouth looks alright to me. But then I am ignorant on the finer points of masks...
