I remember watching Family Guy when it first came out and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread (which is awesome if you didn't already know). But because of its poor time slot that coincided with Friends (a show I seem to be the only person not a fan of) Family Guy was canceled. Massive DVD sales brought it back but thinking about this inspired me to make this thread. Have you ever had a show that you thought was great, that got canceled due to lack of public appeal?
Some people say it should have stayed cancelled

Even though it's been wrapped up and done instead of cancelled, I'm going to say Blackadder.

I loved that show.

Alright, first of all I second Dead Like Me, and I can't believe no one has mentioned Arrested Development yet. I love that show.
I have to agree with Arrested Development. I thought I was going to mention it first but you did, ah well.

To me it was the best comedy on TV. I can barely stand to watch anything on TV, knowing that such an excellent show was canceled while other crappier shows are still on the air. At least Arrested Development was able to finish the season and come to some sort of conclusion, though.

Red Dwarf loved that show, but over the years I've started to suspect that I may have been the only one watching it. Or maybe just the only one in Canada.
It still runs here from time to time, but I wish it would have come back. Love this show. Have you read the books? They are quite good as well. There are a few, and they were written by the writers of the show.

Firefly, as so many have posted already. Futurama, which is back! Whee!
Only book I've read so far is Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers, which i really enjoyed. Only way for me to get them here is to order them online or audiobooks on iTunes. Totally agree with you on Futurama so glad that show came back.

From what everyone here is saying about Firefly I think I'm gonna have to check it out and see what thats all about.

I have 2 shows... Fierfly, and Moonlight... both cancelled before their time :'(
Agree wholeheartedly with the first. Moonlight was okay, but it got a little tiresome after a while. Wouldn't have minded a second season, though.

I would have to say Upright Citizens Brigade. It was one of the cleverest sketch comedy shows I've ever seen, rivaling Monty Python. It's a shame Comedy Central decided to cancel it so they could air Strip Mall... or maybe it was Frank Goes to the Orient, and I think that got canceled before he even went to the Orient.

Samurai Jack. I can't seem to find it any more, but it was a brilliant artistic feat of storytelling, which is more than Cartoon Network usually seems to manage.

Don't know what the big fuzz is about Firefly. I mean sure, it was ok and the story was just getting interesting, but no big deal for me.

I'm also going to say Jericho. I liked the beginning, then it got dull around mid-season and then it became great again. I'm glad they at least concluded it in SOME way, though it wasn't a great ending.

Brimestone and firefly both great shows. both caned before there time:(
Brimstone! Man, I didn't think anyone else remembered this show. A crooked cop working for the devil to send escaped souls back to hell. It had a very unique look. Lot of amber colors and grittiness; very stylized.
Brimstone was awesome! Did you know someone's put most of it on YouTube? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qotcZIqQGYo [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qotcZIqQGYo]

I refuse to put Firefly as when these threads appear, and they do... in there thousands every day, as everyone yells it out.

To actually contribute:
The Class - What the people who made Friends did next
Joey - Despite everyone hating it I loved it and it started getting interesting mid-end series 2 but after the decision had been made to cancel it
Roommates - Exactly as it sounds but sadly a poor timeslot and a crap few entry episodes led to it being cancelled about the 6th episode, luckily they quickly broadcast the rest of the series as I was waiting for the last 3 or so that had Felicia Day in them and rather annoyingly it became quite good about episode 8+

They have them on Audio?!? Smeg! If I had known that I would've checked those out ages ago. My brother drives from Pennsylvania all the way to Illinois to visit me, and he enjoys a good audiobook along the way. I shall have to introduce him to these. Thanks for the heads up!

Firefly is definitely worth the look. Even if it was canceled, I'm glad I saw it. I used to own two copies on DVD, one to loan out, and one for myself. Used to... since the last person I loaned it to has had it for the last two years.

FIREFLY!!!!

Serenity was good, even made me have that feeling of hopeless dispair at the end. However the series realy needed to continue.

Firefly... enough said.

Fox really knows how to quickly kill a popular show, and has the 'cut off your nose' spite to keep it dead.
