Courage was an awesome cartoon because it didn't fucking care. It was what it was and if you didn't like it or got scared, there was plenty of other stuff to do.

To this day, I still have trouble watching the Barber episode and the Mummy episode. Those are some of the scariest writing I've ever seen, even now that I'm 24. You could say that the show was.... Naughty

My brother gave me Season 1 for Christmas last year, and re-watching some of those brought back some truly nostalgic emotions. I agree with you, King Ramses' Curse scarred many a-children back in the day, and even now, it's still pretty freaky to look at. You got to love that early 3D animation they did on that episode.

Another episode I found pretty scary, at least for one moment, was the one where Courage and family go to New York City, and Courage has to deliver a certain package up a scary building. You may remember this moment? When he opens one of the apartment doors and sees a seemingly innocent picture of a blonde girl playing a violin?

I was 8 when I first saw that. Scary stuff indeed, and we loved it.

YES!! I'm glad SOMEBODY remembered it! I swear, I have soooo many Mighty Max playsets in my basement; fond memories playing with those little, swallowable bastards. XP (Seriously, all of them failed the "toilet paper tube" test: if a toy can fit into a toilet paper tube, then a little kid can either swallow it or choke on it.)

Swat Kats was my favorite show of all time, though. Next to Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, MMPR, both Batman and Superman animated series and pretty much anything off of Toonami. Yes, even Sailor Moon.

P.S. I'm trying to remember the name of a show...Does anyone remember a cartoon about a little kid having a different nightmare with each episode? Looked sorta "Invader Zim"-ish, was really not meant for kids...Anyone?

You must be thinking about Nightmare Ned! I haven't thought about that in years! Can't remember which episode freaked me out, but it was definitely to blame for a puddle on my Batman TAS bedsheets. I feel like there was also a Felix the Cat cartoon out around the same time that was equally Gotham staining, but maybe that's just because of similar animation styles rather than content.

Hm, since the thread doesn't specifically rule out live action, and even though it technically started in the 80s it ran to 1999 so I have to mention the greatest show ever to grace television. Mystery Science Theater 3000

Also any other fans of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys or Xena: Warrior Princess? Those shows were so 90s it almost hurts.

Also the series my avatar is taken from, Super Secret Squirrel, is super groovy and I think it could appeal to today's audiences as much as the 90s. Too bad it was just a back-up feature on the vastly inferior 2 Stupid Dogs show.

This may be cheating a little, but does anyone remember Web Premiere Toons, the 'What a Cartoon Show' or the shorts like Longhair and Doubledome or Uncle Gus?. I used to love both those blocks during the time they were on air - online for the former. I can barely remember them all but the Pink Donkey Cartoons - especially Coot Country - are fondly in my hearts, the Banana Splits reboot, Groove Monkee, and Swaroop were among some the good shows that I can remember on the top of my head.

Does "90's kid" refer to someone who was born in the 1980s and grew up in the 90's, or someone who was born in the 90's and was therefore too young to remember or appreciate anything that happened durinng that decade? I never understand this term.

Anyway, Eek the Cat and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (the best one), I guess.

It's someone who grew up in the 90s and had tons of cartoons and toys marketed to them. So basically anyone who was born between about 1987 and 1993.

I was born in '94 and I still think this covers me, mostly. I recongnise and enjoyed most of the shows people are mentioning.
My favourites I guess would have to be Daria (though not at the time), Dexter's Lab, Pokemon, DBZ, Pinky and the Brain, Angry Beavers, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and especially Courage the Cowardly Dog, I used to want to get up at like 4am just to watch it twice a day.

Conan: the Barbarian: there was a cartoon series of that. I recall watching it weekday mornings before school.

Extreme Dinosaurs which was basically Street Sharks except with Dinosaurs from another planet who liked spicy salsa. Like the sharks like their burgers.

Double Dragon because Fuck yeah!!! I still dance to that theme song.

I'll mention Extreme Ghostbusters which I think is likely more for the 90s. In response to that poster who said "The Real Ghostbusters" was really an 80s kid show. Starring a diverse set of teens mentored by Egan. Good times.

Yes! So much yes! The Hub shows old episodes of Hercules at night sometimes. I take peeks for all the nostalgia.

EDIT: Oh, and of course Mister Rodger's Neighborhood...

Loved those, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood when I was very little of course. And I think that one had been going on since the 60s or 70s at least. Also I never saw the Redwall show but I liked the first novel quite a bit. Too bad Brian Jacques only had like, 2 different plots. At least judging by the 5 Redwall books I got through.
