In the event of a global apocalypse that kills 90% of the population, I plan to die. I've run the numbers. Odds are that I'm part of the 90%. Even if I am part of the 10% that lives, we'll all probably die slowly. My odds of survival for more than a week are slim at best. So why fight it?

Basically, I have no plan. I'll wing it. But that whole dying plan will probably be my go to strategy.
This is a man who's never been through SERE.
I'm rather happy like that. I live in a time where I don't have to hunt or grow my own food. I don't even have to cook if I don't want to. The closest I get to the wilderness is the edge of a forest, a nature trail, or swimming in a lake. And I don't have anyone that I need to fight against and have a home that I can use to avoid the elements.

So, no, I haven't been through any type of survival course, much less a military one. I don't need to.

So, realistically speaking, if shit hits the fan, I and the majority of others will likely die. Even those who are prepared would likely be killed as well. So, if I'm likely to die no matter what, why pretend otherwise?

I'd find someone who prepared for the apocalypse, then kill them and take their supplies. Chances are if you read the Zombie Survival Guide and took it even slightly seriously, you're a massive nerd, and massive nerds tend to be physically weak; hence the flawlessness of my plan.

I'll become a raider and prey on the 98% or so of people in the UK who don't have guns.

I live in Utah where there seems to be a weird subculture of one-upmanship over who can be the best prepared to survive the impending zombie apocalypse, race wars, second coming of Jesus Christ, social revolution, civil war or gay marriage legalization.
(You think I'm kidding on that last one. After reading the public opinion page of our local paper I've come to find out some folks around here genuinely fear that as a sign of the end of civilization.)

I really just can't comprehend the mentality of a person who would rather extend their misery in a hopeless situation rather than just face their demise with as much dignity as the situation can muster. I just don't fear my own mortality enough to become a "hardcore" survivalist.

As such I have roughly one month worth of fresh water and MRIs for two and a well stocked first aid kit.

That's enough to get us through a prolonged disaster.

I'm a personal trainer that doesn't go anywhere without my edc (Everyday cary) to get me home to my bug out equipment or my stay home equipment.

My car has stuff.

My house has stuff.

I'm getting my portable hand crank generator and solar panels in two weeks.

And I'm taking courses in first aid and looking for urban and rural survival classes.

... And I'm putting your name on my list of people not to trust. You were careless this day.

In that case, I have the best roommate in the whole fucking world.

He collects hunting knives (nothing above 2 inches since those are illegal in California but its a start), and high power flashlights. He has guns and rifles hidden in his room, which I did not know about until recently into our 5 years of living together.

Dude even carries a roll of ductape taped onto his keychain. "just in case" he says.

I live in the least dangerous part of the world.

I'd just stay right here and do what's needed to stay alive, and I'd be pretty dang safe in any scenario.

In case of zombies I'll go to my grandmother's house. It's not too far (20km) and the road there doesn't go through built-up areas. The city where I live now is pretty small and rural already.

My grandmother's place is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by water on three sides, so easily defensible. If necessary, there's a boat to a small sheltered island not far away. The building itself is pretty solid and has few large windows or doors. Another plus: the cellar is generally stocked with homegrown fruit and vegetables. It has a large vegetable garden. I'll be okay for a while there against a zombie plague. I think my grandfather's rifle is still in the attic.

In case of any other major disaster, I'd go there as well. The dykes are pretty high and solid there (a necessity in The Netherlands).

I know where to find the next Fire station, Police station and army base. I know which end of a gun is the one that makes the loud Noises but i never actually fired one. I live in germany, the probability of a natural disaster is rather low.
My Country is very scared of nuclear energy, so we're dismantling our older nuclear reactors and will eventually get rid of them all.
Our reactors are rather safe but if one is getting rid of them anyways one should not sell the technology to the neighboring Countries, which might do us in due to fallout. Then again, they will build reactors and german reactors are a bit better then russian ones D:

I do keep a rather large supply of food around but mainly because i'm a cheapskate who will not pass up a sale on canned food.

Worried by the number of people who are just waiting for the collapse of civilisation so they can begin the raping and murdering, the preying on the weak. This is a nice corner of the internet so I imagine the number of evil people is actually a lot higher than this thread would indicate.

Ideally our zombie plan is to get hold of a cruise ship and travel between secluded ports picking up supplies. Though I imagine we'd be lucky to find one and not immediately crash the thing.

I honestly think that it's not the person with the gun who will survive the apocalypse. It's the person who knows how to grow food, keep animals, cure infections and build a safe home.

As per my panic plan? Well I don't have one. The only disasters that will happen where I live are flooding and civil unrest. Flooding will be caused by the combination of a storm and spring tide overcoming the drains. Considering my town is only 10m above sea level and the surrounding land quite a bit less, a significant flood could do a lot of damage. And I say civil unrest as a general term. It will either be national public outbreak against the government or it will be locals against the immigrants. In any such case I'll be on my bike getting the hell out of there.
