No they are not going to reward you for having there system fail for a few days. Go to bed and be sure to spell check before posting messages.

PSN Is free. So, giving us money is pretty bloody stupid.

Now, this would work for XBL (If XBL went down, users would be losing something since they paid for that serive, so they'd probally get a refund of something, or maybe they would get to pick one arcade title, beats me, but, it would make sense. Well, it would only make sense if Paid users get these rewards, the Silver users don't have to pay).

However, PSN's free. These people have no right to ***** and moan, because they got it for free. XBL users have the right to rant, because this is a service they paid for, and they don't have access to it.

I think that all PSN subscribers should be refunded 50% of the fees they have paid.

Let see 50% of nothing carry the nothing.... :)

Outages happen and guess what even Plus subscribers are entitled to nothing its is in the terms of Use you probably should take this downtime to read them.

That is not to see the Sony shouldn't do something to apologize it would be good for business but tho expect it would be silly.

I for one would be happy if it simple never happened again.

... No.

Not at all. You don't pay for the service, so why should they be expected to compensate you when it goes offline for a few days?

That's just silly.
This, basically. Sony could delete the PSN pretty much any time they wanted anyway, and they wouldn't owe you a thing. Pretty much any game with online capabilities has a statement somewhere saying that it can be changed/removed at the developers discretion.

Xbox Live would be a different matter because people are subscribing to it, even though it still sucks anyway. The video streaming is god awful, the marketplace is a mess to navigate properly and the chat system is still screwed up. I don't even know why I have on sometimes.

Ah yes, Gears of War 3 isn't out yet.

Rewarded for what? Its an outage, it happens, shouldn't get you anything.

I have to deal with my internet going out all the time, but you don't see me demanding compensation. Well, except more stable internet, but nobody's selling that around here.
Totally off-topic, but did you see the last episode of Archer? Poor Stirling!

Wait... oh shit!

Yeah, that was sad.

It's a free service, I hardly think you need to be compensated for patiently waiting for your free service to come back online and continue allowing to play online for free. Unless you are part of the PSN membership thing or a DCIO subscriber, then perhaps you could get a small something...

It'd be nice if they gave us something, but I don't expect them to and I won't be pissed off i they don't. PSN is a free service and the servers being down was a freak accident (ie. it had nothing to do with Sony having a lack of security or anything, they had nothing to do with it).

Playstation Plus subscribers should get a little something (maybe some free DLC or a free Game or something, but nothing HUGE).

I don't think PSN users will get anything to be honest. There is no real incentive for Sony to do anything for us, and they generally aren't that nice.

The people saying that not paying for online makes it wrong to think compensation would be reasonable are wrong themselves though. The "free online" is one of the major selling points for the PS-3 that it uses to compete with the 360. PSN going down is people still losing out on a feature they paid for when they bought the deck, and the abillity to play their games online.

I see where your coming from, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

In the case of Microsoft having offered compensation in the past, it's not so much because Microsoft is nice and cares about it's users, it's because someone could say "hey, we paid you for a service we didn't get" with a subscription fee to point to, and a service not delivered. The same basic arguement can be used over PSN, but it's harder to actually put a value on it since it's integral to the product they were offering. It would be much harder for angry fans to get a successful class action suit going, or for a judget to assign value.

With XBL, you can look at the cost per month, say it wasn't availible for X amount of time which is a certain percentage. If you figure Microsoft wound up owing everyone a dollar or whatever, with millions of users that's a lot of money The prices for the XBL Arcade and such are already inflated, and it probably actually cost them less to provide a "free" purely digital product/points than to actually open up their coffers and hand out money. Losing potential sales as opposd to money they already made so to speak.

That's how I see it at any rate.

Rewarded, no. They've done nothing special.

Compensated is a better word, but I still say no. Things like this happen. They can deal with it. They're only missing out on a (in most cases) free service.

its 12:08 AM Sunday im very tired but i had a idea for a thread bare with me.

Due to the PSN being down for 3 days or less.

i was thinking Should we be given something as compensation?

and what do you think we should be given.

I would say yes depending on the compensation. I would like a Persona 3 and 4 for PS3 just so i can play it
The heads of the hackers would be good enough for me :D

I have a ps3 myself and play online a lot, and I have to say, it's not that big of a deal. It's free except for ps plus. Those guys should have the lost value compensated for, sure but us free users( if you indeed are one) can just chill for a bit and play our offline stuff. It's not that big a deal, life happens.

I'd already been in tears that episode; the Bionic Barry intro had me on the floor.
