It sucks but no, I don't think that customers should get some sort of compensation. Things like this happen and people should learn to deal with that.
I was looking forward to playing Portal 2 co-op with a friend who owns the ps3 version but now I have to wait until they fix this. I don't like it but I think demanding compensation for that is stupid.

... No.

Not at all. You don't pay for the service, so why should they be expected to compensate you when it goes offline for a few days?

That's just silly.
this.

Unless you're paying for playstation plus already, then i guess something is in order.

When the service is free, absolutely not. If the premium service went offline though, all premium members should be given bonus subscription days greater than or equal to how long the outage was.

There's probably something in the fine print of the PSN network saying if it goes down, too bad for you from a legal perspective.

For a few days? No. My sense of entitlement is normal, not overblown. It would be nice if my psn was working but I'll probably get over it. Life goes on.

It would be nice if they did, but I certainly don't demand that they do. It isn't their fault, outages happen. Right now, I just want to play again.

Yeah, there usually is. But wouldn't you know that it can't be accessed either due to the network being down?

Either way, typically in this case those who pay for PS Plus may get a credit for the days of non service but that's usually if you contact the CS department personally to ask for it. Beyond that I'm guessing that Sony might do something nice for PR purposes, but they're not well known for good publicity these days, right?

Why should PS+ members get stuff? PS+ is really only used for discounts, extra games, free games, exclusive betas, demos, etc...

Its not a necessity to play online.

Legally, they are not entitled to give us anything back (unless you are a paid PSN + or whatever member), since we didn't pay for it and you'll notice in the terms and services agreement that they have the legal right to stop it at any time for non-paying customers. People really need to read the User agreements and the ToS agreements more carefully.

I am mildly annoyed at the PSN outage. MILDLY annoyed. I am not furious, I am not spitting mad, I am not foaming at the mouth with rage as some people are. It is an inconvenience and a bit annoying, but it is not the end of the world. Not being able to play multiplayer for a few days isn't anything to get furious over.

It would be welcome if PSN gave it's Plus members extra days of membership for free, and if it, perhaps, made some DLC free for everyone else. They don't have to do it legally, but it would be nice of them to do it.

It would be nice if we did get something, even if it was just a sale on the PSN store where we can pick up some games for cheaps. But it wouldnt really bother me if we get nothing, this crap happens sometimes.

Unless you're paying for the service you should not get compensation for it being down temporarily. I fail to see why this is difficult to grasp. I get free wifi in coffee shops for my phone so I don't have to use my data plan, but if the local shop's wifi is out I don't go demand a refund.

If it was XBOX live, I would say yes, because they pay for that service, but PSN users get it for free, so I say just deal with it - it's only three days after all.

Obviously not. PSN is free. Sure, it would be really cool of them to give something away, but they'd lose so much money it wouldn't be worth it.

You shouldnt get anything you get psn for free. I'd understand if you pay for it they would need to compensate for the wasted game time you payed for but you don't pay for psn so....

Ummm no.
Isn't PSN free?

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

*shrugs*
Well it's their fault for going with the PS3 when they could have gotten an xbox (which rocks and is so much better trololol).
You know whats hilarious!? The fact that you have to pay to play online for xbox! Its like paying more for something you already have (internet)! LOLOLOL LMAO xD

On topic though, I don't feel we should get compensated. After all the service is free, I don't feel that I should get something because the network is down. In fact, I only want an explanation. Something that I can go and say "oh. Ok that makes sense" (or not).
