It's easy to think that, and I understand the point of view. However, Sony doesn't force you to make a PSN account, therefore it's unknown whether some people are using the services provided. You believe that my cousin, who doesn't use PSN or even have a PSN account should be compensated for something he doesn't use? I don't believe he should, why spend money on someone who doesn't even know what you gave him?Sharalon said:Well, that's stupid... if you paid for your ps3 you have paid for the psn service and Sony are expected to keep it working. No matter whether you have ps+ or not you have still paid for the online service.Skopintsev said:Well honestly, I think it should depend if you have a PS+ membership or not. If you don't, you don't get compensated for the 3 days, because obviously, you're not paying for the service (like myself, though considering getting PS+ eventually).
If you DO have PS+, I think you should get an extra free PSN game that's published by Sony.
It's only fair
Well, I didn't really say that I think that everyone should be compensated. But still, I have paid for a service that I didn't get access to, so I have the right to be pissed (even though I almost never use PSN)! xDSkopintsev said:It's easy to think that, and I understand the point of view. Business wise, you would be spending untold millions compensating 100% of the PSN user base, whether they use the services or not. Or you could save roughly 80-90% of those costs by only catering to the loyal customers that volunteer to pay for the same services but with some minor bonuses. Sit back and think about it, you'd make that decision too..
But, this is all unlikely. As much as I love Sony products, I/WE all know too well that it's unlikely that we're getting anything out of this. Sony will give us nothing in return but a explaination for the outage, leave it at that, and continue on like nothing has happened. And if someone starts shit up about it, they probably have their asses covered in those Terms & Agreements that most of us agree to blindly.
Not saying it's right. But it's business.

Due to the PSN being down for 3 days or less.
i was thinking Should we be given something as compensation?
and what do you think we should be given.
I would say yes depending on the compensation. I would like a Persona 3 and 4 for PS3 just so i can play it
Yes that did happen, but as stated the difference being as stated that Live is a paid for service. When it goes down for an extended period Live users have suffered some kind of loss which MS wanted to provide compensation for.No_Remainders said:Don't think so?warcraft4life said:Did xbox not go down around Christmas a few years ago and everyone got a free arcade game?
Something like this would be nice (LOLJK I DON'T OWN A PS3) but not necessary..!
But that'd be totally different anyway. LIVE: Paid for
PSN: Free.
thats an mmo, mmos go down all the time for alot of reasons, but if an mmo went down what do you do? Play another game. But when a sever goes down like psn or xbl you cant just say well ima play a different online game then, you play a game for what the game provides and that entertainment, you buy the system for all the sevice it provides that includes the online part. There a difference between an mmo compiared to a gaming system.jackpipsam said:no, I have a sub to an SOE (sony) mmo and when that was down for a week we didn't get anything nor did I want anything (apart from answers).Lt. no they should not, your point is?F-I-D-O said:If a F2P MMO went down, they shouldn't need to give everyone a new weapon.
I have enough sense to know things happen
PSN allows a system where it is F2P online.jackpipsam said:yup EVERY single user, something tells me that doesn't work somewhere.Lt. Dragunov said:but if 360 severs dieded out every single 360 user will flood the internet demanding compensation.

Sure, it would be really cool of them to give something away, but they'd lose so much money it wouldn't be worth it.Carl Russell said:You shouldnt get anything you get psn for free. I'd understand if you pay for it they would need to compensate for the wasted game time you payed for but you don't pay for psn so....PS+ and DCUO aren't free, whould you want some compensation if you were in the pub club and the escapist went down?PatSilverFox said:Ummm no.
Isn't PSN free?
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Well it's their fault for going with the PS3 when they could have gotten an xbox (which rocks and is so much better trololol).
Careful with posts like these, as they can rapidly become flame-bait. -Mod
That's what I was thinking when it was going to be out for a couple of days.Nouw said:They didn't pay for it, they don't get paid for losing it.
There was a reward, I got it, it was some arcade game.... can't remember it's name but it was actually pretty fun, like star wars battlefront under water as a side scroller... awesome game actually, I should play it again.No_Remainders said:Don't think so?warcraft4life said:Did xbox not go down around Christmas a few years ago and everyone got a free arcade game?
