Hmm... visually it actually looks pretty good. If not for the whole "director of Twilight" thing, it might actually look decent. But yeah, it definitely looks set to rape another classic story. But at least it's only one story rather than multiple mythologies.

Huh. How the hell did I forget that?
Because that's a rather dodgy way of putting it. She wakes up after having sex bruised, yes. It's never implied she lost conscious any time before they presumably finished and she went to sleep. Let's not forget that the character practically forces him to have sex and has wanted to jump his bones pretty much since she saw him. She's actually being described as being so enthralled during the act as to not notice what's happening.

I can't believe they're actually using a Twilight actor, too.
See, that's what I thought. I knew there wasn't rape.

I am probably not going to see this movie. Y'know, I didn't mind M. Night Sham-wow-lan's The Village, which borrowed more than a little from Red Riding Hood, so I'll just watch that again in Red Riding Hood's stead.

What I hate most about these new films which give supernatural monsters 'feelings' is that they portray Vampire Hunters and all that as racist murderers or something... I am pretty sure if they got their hands on Dracula, they'd turn Dracula into an angsty teen who only DECLARED WAR ON HUMANITY because he was neglected as a child... Then they'd portray van helsing as a racist redneck who doubles as a leader for the local ku klux klan when he isn't hunting "innocent" vampires...

The good thing about movies like these though, they give an accurate depiction of characters with stockholme syndrome (half of the time, characters are usually "trapped" in a situation with supernatural creatures) and also shows the inner mind of a woman being abused and held captive by their "lovers".
That was my problem with True Blood. No matter how stupid or annoying, the Fellowship of the Sun were the good guys, not villains. The vampire 'heroes' were a bunch of mass murderers and the only true villains. Yet, I was supposed to sympathize with them because...what? They're better looking?

Nope, teenage girls are getting bored of the whole wolf and vampire fetish and they'll soon move on to something else.

I wonder what else Hollywood will suck the soul out of since it seems it knows no bounds at all.
They're also remaking the Wizard of Oz. No idea if its going the twilight route though.

Red Riding Hood trailer:

Like any other guy dragged to one of these movies by a member of the opposite sex, movie critic, male or female film buff or anyone whose followed MovieBob, I HATE TWILIGHT. I hate the fact that the romantic male lead is a creepy, clingy stalker. I hate that the female lead is codependent, mopey and emotional all the time. I hate that is seems to convince impressionable girls that stalking equals love.
ty for my sentiments already. so that trailer=full of SHIT, and nothing but wishy washy crap trying to look better than it is. http://store.steampowered.com/app/27000/ see this link? this is an AWSOME, and QUALITY re-imagining of red riding hood. not some retards fantasy vertion that needs to be shot in the face. oops did i say that outloud and not over a mgeaphone, 'scuse me a sec.

Personally, while im not really too interested in it, i will be seeing it in theatres based on that trailer. the colors look amazing. its very eye catching. thats not something you see much these days. most (non animated) movies i have seen lately go for the gritty darker colors. thats why i loved avatar as much as i did.

OF course they have to...

"Them vampires and werewolfs need to leave...Taking our women and our jobs."
"They took our jobs!"

OT: Well i wont judge a movie by it's trailer. But there is a big chance i wont see this one.

It's directed by the same guy who did Twilight, and the trailer is definitely trying to sell the movie to Twilight fans, but I fail to see where the connection is so far. Not saying it's not there in the finished product, but trailers are often misleading and the Twilight fan base, being as large as it is, would certainly be a good sized group to market your product to.

I'd be inclined to agree with the people saying it isn't gonna be like twilight if the characters didn't look the same, if there wasn't a werewolf and if it didn't reek of "I'm cashing in on the last movie i made about teenagers and mythical creatures." and if they didn't use that fucking same light filter for all the shots.

You ever read Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber?

That some interesting dark fairytale shit right there
Didn't anyone read Grimm's fairy tales? my god, the stuff in those stories would make Stephen King wet his lace panties.

I actually thought it had a chance of being good. sex, violence in a thriller set in the same time period as oblivion, dragon-age and every other middle-agey story/rpg/movie.

yes it has the same lighting and colour feel as twilight but who knows what the movie may be like in the end
