I'm going to go right ahead and take the absolute opposite stand point here. I reckon this movie has great potential and hints at a cool looking film.
Here's what I want you to do:
Go back and re-watch that trailer.
When it gets to 0:46 close your eyes.
Reopen them 2 seconds later.
Now what do we have?
We're left with a gritty reboot of a centuries old classic fairytale which was, in itself, quite horrifying re-shot as a hostage/entraped style film (think, Dog Soliders, 30 Days of Night).
There's a love interest in there too but, unlike Twilight, this one seems to cast the characters as humans with wants and needs (0:50) where Twilight did its best to repress these.
And it is directed by a film-maker with a list of quite notable films to his name which, and here is the kicker, don't bear heavy resemblance to one another.
So let's not cast this film in to the fire because they decided to cash in on the fact that there's thousands of viewers out there who will blindly see this film because the word TWILIGHT was on screen for a second and then leave feeling sullied, ripped off and slightly dirty and instead look at it as what it is - A stand alone film that deserves to be judged on its own merits.
