Shut Up and Kick Ass: A Kick Ass RP

I always wondered why nobody did it before me. I mean, all those comic books. Movies. TV shows...You would think that one eccentric loner would have made himself a costume.

Is everyday life really so exciting, are schools and offices so thrilling, that I?m the only one who ever fantasized about this?

C'mon. Be honest with yourself.

At some point in our lives, we all wanted to be a superhero.




A couple of months after the appearance of Kick-Ass a new wave of superheroes have been inspired by his exploits. New York City is becoming the home to many new spandex wearing vigilantes.

Some criminals have taking on supervillain personae to counter the superheroes. The city is slowly turning into an all out war straight out a comic book.

This RP is about new and rising heroes dealing with some of New York's largest threats. This is going to be mainly a player driven RP though I may drop in some plot devices every once in a while.

Name: Garrett Sullivan

Hero Alias: HammerDown

Age: 17

Equipment: A pair of 1 inch steel knuckles, and another spiked pair for serious encounters. He also has two HK USP .45's that he got for his 17th birthday from his father, but those are only for really special occasions.

Appearance: Roughly 5'10" about 195lbs mostly muscle. Short brown hair and blue eyes, with a crooked nose from a previous break. His costume consists of an olive drab Vietnam-era flak vest that has metal plates on the inside areas of the chest and back, with a shoulder holster for his handgun. The vest is also adorned with a large A-10 Warthog patch on the back. He has a long sleeve black shirt under the vest, black jeans, fingerless gloves, and a metal mask reminiscent of those worn in Army of Two. The mask is flat black painted with the teeth usually seen on Warthog airplanes.

Personality: He has a very cynical, sarcastic outlook, and he appears to be a complete bastard, but once people get to know him they realize he is a very loyal, protective friend. He can remain calm and level-headed in tense situations, though he has a tendency to taunt and provoke his enemies, and he can be very cocky at times. He is extremely strong-willed, and can be very determined when motivated, his tendency to make jokes during tense situations is a coping mechanism, he believes everyone needs to take things a little less seriously. Garrett is also rather intelligent, with high-grades in all of his classes save for Algebra, he HATES math.

Biography: After growing up a Navy brat, and moving up and down the east coast for years, Garrett is glad his family finally settled down in New York. He loves the city, and New York's urban areas allow him to pursue his love of free-running. His father mainly worked in the brig and was stationed in Guantanamo Bay temporarily, and has taught the self-defense technique's he learned to Garrett. His family is still together and completely stable, and he is EXTREMELY protective of his friends and particularly his younger brother, Brad. He has been suspended from school multiple times after someone try's to beat up his younger brother, if someone hurts his brother, he will do anything to get at that person.

He played football as a fullback for many years, and constantly lifts weights, which is the reason for his muscular build. Despite being a football player, he is a huge geek, and his room is decorated with science fiction, video game, and comic books memorabilia, his favorite heroes being the Green Lantern and the Punisher. After the appearance of Kick-Ass, Garrett was motivated to seek out his own crime-fighting persona, and after ordering a flak vest off of E-bay, and constructing a metal mask in shop class, he became HammerDown. After a few weeks of HammerDown stopping muggers and helping old ladies across the street, villains started cropping up, and has been looking for a partner.

They can be either of the two it will just determine if your a vigilante or a hero since heroes don't kill people.

Name: Kathleen Bishop

Hero Alias: Drop-Shot

Age: 22

Equipment: a modified paintball gun, complete with several different types of ammo, ranging from painful pepper spray, to poisonous solutions of pesticide. Her trusty blue pocket knife and a a concealed cam-corder used for evidence.

Appearance: Normal: Typical Otaku, short skirts, long socks causal cosplay dress. glasses and brown hair mostly tied up in a tight bun.

Personality: Kathleen is normally quiet but cheerful, she takes out most of her anger and frustration out on people as Drop-Shot. She has become meticulous with her work in tracking down scumbags and is NEVER without her blackberry.

Biography: Kathleen was a fairly lonely child, she spent most of her time daydreaming and reading fairy tales, as she grew older she had to take on the responsibility of looking after her mentally unstable sister. They connected over comic book and role playing online and dressed up as superhero duos in the backyard.

Life was fine until Lisa reached high school, where she was teased constantly for her 'geekness' and social awkwardness. Kathleen tried to do what she could to protect her sister,
but she couldn't be there when rocks were thrown at her or practical jokes were played...
Finally the jokes went too far, and Lisa was invited out by 'friends' Kathleen wary of situations before, followed her sister to the location....
4 boys had called her out with every intention of raping Lisa. Kathleen wasn't going to take any of that shit. She rushed out with only a pocket knife for protection, and was easily disarmed...

The trial over the sisters rape concluded swiftly thanks to the evidence Kathleen had recorded from her mobile phones voice recorder. But a deep bitterness toward anyone who would prey on the weak charged her to help others.

Name: Michael Dusk

Hero Alias: Dusk

Age: 18

Equipment: A Spas 12 Shotgun on his back, stun grenades and flashbangs around his waist and a Desert Eagle pistol in his side holster.

Appearance: Normal: Baggy, ripped jeans with a black shirt. Shaggy blonde hair, with blue eyes.
Dusk: Snowboarding Goggles with a bandana around the lower half of his face. Metal shoulderplates, with black body armor extended down to his hands, where they end in black gloves. Baggy jeans with metal plates underneath. Normal Skate shoes.

Personality: Michael is laid back and happy when he is normally around, but when he is Dusk he is merciless and can take life without a beat.

Biography: Michael was always a lazy person, at school and at home. Since he was the son of a wealthy buisnessman, he usually always got what he wanted, and didn't ever have to do much work.
It all changed when one day his dad was murdered.
He realised how much of a lazy prick he was, and went on his way to change who he was forever.
He left his home when he was 16, and traveled to New York to make a new life for himself. He worked out nearly every other day, studied hard, and when Kick-Ass came around, he decided it was his time to fight crime.
He funds his crime fighting movement with money that his father left him.

Name: Phil Barclay

Hero Alias: Lantern Jack

Age: 23

Equipment: A can of hairspray, a lighter, and a flare gun, all carried in a homemade utility belt.

Appearance: Average height, lean, somewhat muscular, light tan. Brown hair, brown eyes. Usually wears a sleeveless shirt, blue jeans, and running shoes.
Lantern Jack's outfit consists of black leather jacket worn over an orange T-shirt , black cargo pants, brown steel-toed boots, leather work gloves, an orange hard hat, and a Jack-O-Lantern face mask.

Personality: Phil is outgoing, somewhat energetic, tenacious, and very honest, at times brutally so. As Jack, he is loud, proud, and frighteningly happy.

Biography: Before becoming a crime fighter, Phil lead, for the most part, a rather normal and uninteresting life, and was thoroughly depressed by the state of the world around him. He took up kick-boxing, but it was more about fitness than fighting, as he really didn't think there was much he or anyone else could do to change things.
When Kick Ass first appeared, Phil didn't think much of it, believing the guy would be dead in a week, maybe a month at most, and nothing would be any different. As the whole thing began to pick up steam, however, and others began throwing their hats into the ring, Phil began to take notice, and he felt something stirring inside him, which he initially dismissed as an overly seasoned taco.
One day, he saw someone getting brutalized by a couple of thugs. He had no idea why he stepped in and attacked them, but it gave him a strange sense of accomplishment to beat the two thugs into submission. That and a black eye.
Deciding to try the hero thing himself, rather than just watching videos of other people, he got himself a Halloween mask, and Lantern Jack was born. Phil was happier than he'd ever been, finally being able to help change things, and having become a part of something great. He had a new lease on life, and worked hard to do what he could for others.

Hero Alias: Valkyrie

Age: 26

Equipment: Whip

Appearance: leather knee-high boots, form-hugging leather spandex and a silk veil; red wig, athletic body

Personality: jaded, world-weary, short-tempered

Biography: Melody Krage was a...street performer in New York. She started working the streets after dropping out of college, unable to afford both food and an education. Her usual customers were the kind who liked young teens...a lot. Looking a lot younger than she really was, she had a steady stream of clients. Eventually, she teamed up with others like her and bought a run-down apartment building. They pooled their money together and fixed the place up, doing business to send troubled girls through community college. She never saw herself as a superhero or a vigilante...until one of the girls they were helping was assaulted. Melody was with a masochistic client when she heard the scream. Dashing out into the street wearing her costume and wielding a whip, she was able to stop the assault before it got serious. It was actually the girl she saved that dubbed her the Valkyrie, after the way she swooped in.
