If there are 2 subjects talked about too much on the escapist, it's Mass Effect 2 & Avatar.

I feel you pain LordNue, after awhile talking about it is no longer a relevant topic and if someone has not seen it then it can certainly be off-putting to never having a desire to watch it.

I under went the same effect when...oh wtf was that Indian movie....oh yeah, Slumdog Millionaire. In its first week I knew a few people who'd taken the risk and gone seen the movie(generally when something is in select theater's only, you've got a 50-50 shot at it being a crap-shoot) and they said it was fairly decent and probably worth the price of a matinee showing. However what turned me off utterly and completely to the movie was everyone and their grandma then shouting "HOLY CRAP CRACKERS BATMAN!! YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!" Every morning when I'd turn on the news, Slumdog; when I'd get on the internet...Slumdog, when I'd turn on da freaking radio, fucking Slumdog! By the time the Oscars came around I'd had it, which is why I felt ever so vindicated when Will Smith got up for the effects section of awards and spoke about action movies quote:

"Now these awards typically go to action movies...you know...the movies that actually have fans *crowd nervously laughs* "

I was like "HA! Take that ya stuffy academy bastards! You don't see Slumdog winning the people's choice, that's right *****! Batman stole that award from ya!"

This was mostly because I already watch the Oscars somewhat begrudged that my favorite movies of the year lose to artsy fartsy snuff films I've never heard of, or films involving an edgy political subject(like Milk). My axe, however, is to grind with the ijits that run the academy not this thread, so I'll save that rant for a later date. Dunno where this was going, I think I got angry when I remembered my searing hatred for Slumdog.

: ) You know how foolish it makes you look to refer to other people as children while online?
And the original question...has still not been answered. Y'know, if you have any actual questions for me, I'd be happy to answer. It's kinda the reason they have these forums.

Ooo! Ooo! I have another question, while you're still thinking of my first. You seem so annoyed at the hysteria over Avatar; why not then take the same umbrage at the much bigger Star Wars franchise? I don't get the inconsistency.

BTW, I'm not overly concerned with how I "look" when talking to people on the 'net whom I'll never meet in person.

Because I can go weeks at a time without hearing about or seeing starwars anywhere except when the prequels were released and even then because of their terrible nature it wasn't as bad. There are even times I manage to go a whole month without hearing a single thing about starwars, on the *Gasp* internet!
What strange world do you come from, where there is no Kevin Smith, no Family Guy, Robot Chicken and South Park to constantly refer to Star Wars? In what nation do the nerds not reference George Lucas more than Star Trek, World of Warcraft and Harry Potter combined?

I mean, please, do tell when the Avatar Christmas specials are going to air, as well as the Avatar cartoons, the Avatar Muppet Specials, and let me know when the Na'vi get their own movie(s) ala the Ewoks. And when Sam Worthington does the voice acting for an already long-iconic character (Mark Hamill/the Joker) and is credited by naive fanboys as the inspiration for the reboot/sequel that reinvigorates the franchise (The Dark Knight), and 12 Avatar games are being released per year, and the action figures are worth hundreds of dollars...please, let me know.

For everyone who has this 'Avatar depression', do watch the Planet Earth documentary series. It'll make you appreciate your home planet a lot more.
NOw there is a constructive idea!
