Inspired by the awesome animated trailer for Pokemon Black & White 2, a petition has been made to make a more mature Pokemon anime!!
You can sign the petition here: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/alternate-pokemon-anime/

If you haven't seen the trailer yet, here you go!

I don't want to be a self-promoting bastard, but keep this thread alive for about 2 days so more people can see it and sign the petition!

IMO, this is what I've been waiting for. No more Ash, and more battles and it could actually follow a plot!

EDIT: Someone suggested an alternative way as well.

"Need help? Here's a suggestion: contact NOA themselves. Send them a handwritten/typed letter via snail mail telling them how much you enjoyed the anime intro video.

NO COMPANY care about some shitty online petition that takes two seconds to sign. ALL COMPANIES can appreciate someone who took the time and energy to handwrite/type a letter and send it to them via snail mail. They may not be able to do anything about it right away, HOWEVER they do keep records of who sends them what, and THAT is how they guage how popular something is and/or what customer interest is in.

Sending a letter to NOA is also better because, like your representative/senator in government, they are who represents American business interests. As such, they can tell NOJ that "a LOT of our customers showed plenty of interest in that anime intro video for B2W2; we highly suggest that you take this into consideration". Consider that the anime series "The Big-O" was renewed for a second season, not because the original Japanese audience wanted it, but because AMERICAN audiences wanted it, and so Sunrise decided to create that second season due to AMERICAN interest in the series.

If y'all are HONEST in trying to show your interest in that intro video in a way that NOA/NOJ will notice, then send them that letter. And don't forget to write it in a very calm and professional manner, and DEFINITELY don't forget to sign it." - Anonymous

It's a show targeted at little kids. It's always been targeted at little kids. You've grown up. Everything doesn't have to grow up with you. This is just stupid.

A more mature Pokemon anime? You mean Digimon?

Or at least, the older Digimons. Haven't a clue what Xros Wars was supposed to be.

Oh look, another fucking petition on the internet.

Petition this, petition that.

I'll be in the angry dome.
I'll join you.

Or if there isn't enough space I'll go to the Chamber of Understanding to try and figure out why there are so many petitions.

Children's card games concurrently adapted into a television series to promote the progenitor video game.

Pokemon is for kids, OP. It's okay for adults to like stuff that's targeted at kids, but it's a little weird when you insist that it be targeted at you instead.

Hey, I didn't come up with this suggestion, I agreed to promote this petition because the guys at /vp/ are awesome. Also, someone else suggested another way. I'll put it in the edit.

So liking video games and comic books is weird?

Nope. But it is IMO a little weird to say (for instance): "Hey, you know what would make Smash Bros even better? Fatalities!"

I posted the same damn trailer a week ago.

I loved it then And I love it now.

Though I don't feel that we should focus on it.

If we did it though:

I would want to see a more korra-level maturity with the no fear aspect of being able to swear or show a little blood. but....it must be handled carefully. Ironically, If I could find my old script, you people are welcome to look at a PG-13 leveled from scratch episode I wrote. The idea being that the Pokemon were the main characters who talked, humans were on the side. Also it was a new team, new characters, and Jennifer Anniston was the voice of a Garchomp......with an attitude.

And before anyone calls fanfiction on my ass. New city, and no shitty love scenes, not even a mention of that crap. The Human was 20, had a job, and was barely on the damned thing.

I have not watched pokemon in a long time, due to my ignorance with the "new generations". To be honest I only know the first 150, then I grew out of the fad. I recently hopped back in a few years ago, but my lack of knowledge of the pokemon and my lack of time to learn has taken its toll on my interest. However I like the old pokemon, I dont feel it needs to be darker or edgier or more adult.

Oh well. :3

GOD DAMN YOU HANK SCORPIO, YOU FLAMETHROWER NINJA.

Edit: I would watch the fuck out of that show. Flamethrower ninjas. Not mature pokemon.

It's not going THAT far, just more of what we saw in the trailer, and something that follows the game's plot nowadays.

Also, isn't Spiderman targeted at kids? Even the comics? In the 60's it was strictly kids thing. Later in the 80's, it got a bit more mature, with adding new looks to some villains and introductions of serial killers Venom and Carnage(along with adding supervillains actually killing civilians). Spiderman suddenly became attractive to an older audience and it made the product better and it brought a wider audience (until that Maximum Carnage debacle).

Another example: Wolverine. He was introduced just to look cool. He had metal claws, but never killed anyone. Another "just for kids" character. Then the 80's gave him a new look, a tiny bit of backstory, and was suddenly gutting soldiers and robots(with a horrifying panel showing Magneto ripping the metal from his flesh). Another product that matured with its audience, and with that, the fanbase got larger and the product's quality increased.

Also, X-men. No explanation needed there.

...Why do you assume it's dark and mature? It's just OVA quality.

Such quality on a weekly basis would bankrupt Nintendo.

I like pokemon myself (19 years old and have put over 400 hours into respective gameboy/ds games) but honestly.......no. The pokemon world and aesthetics don't translate into mature at all. Look at pokemon like Mr.Mime, and try to take him seriously. You just can't. The world is full of cutesy pokemon that say their name over and over again to talk, and sing and dance and go on adventures.

And I don't think you mean "mature" I think you mean edgier. I doubt you would want Mad Men with pokemon thrown in.

I would rather have a less kid oriented monster battling arena fighter myself, because frankly, the pokemon IP is just boring to me now.
