What does your significant other think of your gaming? I personally have been gaming since 1985, so that means that I'm not stopping for anyone. How many of you have the pleasure of having a gamer for a partner?

I got lucky with my girlfriend. She does not play herself, even though I occasionally try to get her to try some good multiplayer, or just plain funny game. She does not mind me playing. She only has a problem if I get sucked into Civilizations one-more-turn syndrome.

I used to have a girlfriend years ago who really hated when I played games. She was so insecure about herself, that she saw my computer as a direct competition to her.

She plays damned Second Life. It makes me want to puke on myself. I hate that so called "game" to the core of my being.

Otherwise we play nothing together, because that is all she plays. She used to play WOW but I hate the shit too.

My ex played WoW. luckely neither of the girls I hooked up with after that did.
My current interest likes to play MP like mario party and SSB:Brawl so thats nice.
If she cant stand me gaming/raiding thats fine. but I wont give up 100% of my life just for her.

My gf actually can beat me in guitar hero any day (not a fan, not gonna lie about that one), and is anxious to learn about how to play other games... She tries to play with me when possible, and picks up games pretty fast.

She doesn't mind too much when I play unless she's directly there... In which case, it's a problem. Ha, she is pretty awesome though. Good times ;-)

My girlfriend can kick my ass at Mario Kart any day of the week. Mind you, I can mostly beat her at Soul Calbiur any day of the week.
Our opinions are that sometimes we play games, and that's fine. We don't need to disturb each other and constantly be around each other. So when I'm playing Starcraft or she's playing Fable II, we both understand.
I count myself as being extremely lucky :)

Mine enjoys most wii based family games but doesn't mind watching anything i'm playing, she prefers trying to distract me rather then playing.

My wife is a gamer. She likes party games and anything co-op. Currently she is hooked on Saints Row 2. On the RPG front She likes Zelda and Guild Wars, but doesn't like Oblivion or Final Fantasy. I try not to understand what makes her like/not like games and just be thankful she does. She doesn't go anywhere without her DS.

My boyfriend plays although not as much as I do. I do have to occasionally put my foot down so the 360 and I can spend some quality time together, but for the most part, he understands. He's a keeper!

Is "significant other" some kind of silly politicaly correct term for your *****?
No, because sometimes the "Bitches" will use the term to describe their master.

I've been gaming since I was old enough to hold a joypad, although I did have a brilliant girlfriend but for some reason we grew distant whenever interesting games were released... couldn't stand how she;d moan that I never call or only wanted to be with her so I'd someone to do co-op with blah blah, I'm sure you all know :D

If you do find a partner whose a gamer I say stick with them... and you lucky so and so

My wife is on-again, off-again about gaming. She got fanatical about Professor Layton so I bought her a DS when I went on a buisness trip. She picks it up occasionally while waiting for the next Layton game.

She used to play Quake, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil but not so much anymore. She's a big horror movie fan and likes to watch while I play horror games. Not so much with anything else.

I recently decided that I should try to swing my console purchases in the direction of games we can both enjoy (or games that I can play with my brothers online.) That means I'm sure to pick up any horror title but I'll probably stay away from other genres. I'd rather we be able to have together time while I'm playing and games like Mirror's Edge drive her out of the room with motion sickness. I'm trying to make my gaming a social experience, but in a limited context.

Besides, I still have my DS and laptop for games that are just for me.

Not unless I want to goto bed on my small futon with a black eye and a nut missing.

On topic:
My wife wasn't into games at all until we got together. Now she plays Guitar Hero/Rock Band, she likes DDR, and (Which is the most surprising to me) she really enjoys Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. She'll ask me if I'm playing something 'Hey, you wanna shoot some terrorists?' It's pretty hot when she says that, not gonna lie. She also started playing Fable 2 recently!

Slowly climb the ladder...

Where are you people finding these women?

Where is this land where women play video games?

Narnia? ;)

In all seriousness, good for you.

Just shows how far gamers as a community have come.

My S.O. tolerates my gaming, but then we tolerate each other ranting and pulling out insane topics as well. I've tried to convert her, but she's as hard headed as I am.

NM, she's a Mac user anyway.

Depends on the game for my fianceee,
She likes most JRPG's,
Loves things like Little Big Planet and Katamari Damacy
Absolutely hates GTA style games and most shooters
Likes the Prince of Persia series and Zelda
She can't watch Survival Horror but does enjoy Resident Evil 4 strangely.
REALLY hates Gears of War and Halo
She also really took to Fable 2 and we have our "character" that we play together.
Also, she plays DnD, loves cartoons and is delightfully interested in all things fantasy.

I wouldn't call her a Gamer, but she certainly tolerates and occasionally participates in my gaming habit.

My wife is a hardcore World of Warcraft player and she while she doesn't really play anything else, she has at least a passing interest in the games that I play.

My wife is awesome :)

I love her lots.

She was watching while you typed that wasn't she?

Just kidding. Most of us who are lucky enough to get women who like gaming are very appreciative of that fact.
