My girlfriend accepts my gaming for the most part. I do sometimes recieve the odd comment about playing guitar hero/ rock band as A. I am somewhat obsesed with these games and B. she is actually a musician. Being a musician who associates with other musicians she likes to deride my joy in being able to play on expert on a "kids game". It doesnt worry me though, If I had any musical talent I would play real instruments, I dont therefore I push buttons and have fun

I've not had a "girlfriend" who games before, but I have had a close female friend decide she wanted in on a lan.

...the guys have since taught me that I'm not allowed to invite people(code for girls) to lans, lest I endure months of 'whipped' comments.

I wish I had a significant other right now, but my previous girlfriends have been okay with it. They haven't been serious gamers, but they were nerds in their own ways, so they didn't begrudge me my hobby.

She doesn't care about me gaming, and we live happily ever after.

Still in the early stage with a new girl I'm seeing. We were out in town and I happily watched a bus go past us with the giant Left 4 Dead advert on it. She asked what I was looking at and I said "oh nothing, just a new game that's coming out."

She sighed and said "you're a gamer?" in a really dejected tone. I had to explain that I'm not a 20 hour a week guy, I just like playing in my spare time instead of watching TV. She seemed to buy that.

Ha ha, I wasn't lying! I am a 5-6 hours a week kinda guy. Bit more on release weekends. But damn, Left 4 Dead might be an issue. I played the sodding demo for 2 hours last night!

hehe... I sense rainclouds on that horizon.

fix your quote please :p

Rainclouds don't necisarily mean you're doomed, I'm just bothered whenever I see gamers dating game haters.

in my experience (both personal and observed in friends and relatives) it rarely ends well, but I wish all the luck to you :_

My girlfriend doesn't mind me gaming, as long as it doesn't get in the way of spending time with her. She plays Guitar Hero on easy, and has a love for Spyro. The only game she's ever finished is Happy Feet on PS2. I tried to get her to play Portal, but she finds it impossible to work both analog sticks at the same time, much to my frustration.

Gamer chicks aren't all that rare, but when is a girl a gamer? Most girls that I know that game focus on a few games and keep playing them over and over.
Maybe games objectify women too much and this is why women play fewer games than men? Every female game character out there is either some heroine with an attitude (Lara Croft, Bloodrayne) or scantly clad eye candy (Ivy... well all the DOA/Soul Calibur girls). But then again males are frequently depicted as growly voiced adonises who could lift a walrus with one hand (Gears of War etc), so I suppose it all evens out.

My girlfriend is an RPG only player, currently stuck on the Lord of the Rings mumorpiger and playing nothing else. My 66 year old mum plays a lot of games though. Her favorites are Jade Empire and Thief 3 (Xbox versions). Currently shes on BioShock and she will be getting Farcry 2 or Fallout 3 for Christmas. Dunno which to get her yet.

My girlfriend seems to be a bit less-than-happy to see me play video games, but I've been doing it since I was in first grade with the first Doom and C&C games.

I really don't like it when she just stares at me with this look like I just broke her cat or something... aside from that; I have been having fun for as long as I can remember just building and destroying people, bases, and empires... It's just like being god! I love it!

My ex-girlfriend's top 3 favorite games went something like this:
1. Sonic 2
2. Virtua Fighter 4
3. God of War
9999. Halo
Yes, she was a strange woman. :p

On the other hand, I actually know a surprisingly small number of gamer chicks. I know they exist because there were lots of 'em in college, I just never seem to be around them...

I actually met my girlfriend because of Counter Strike Source. She and her entire family, except the mom, are in a clan called KoS. I used to play on their server all the time and such, never really knew her though. Then I went to a big LAN party (roughly 100ppl +) and met her in person...

Kinda funny because I knew there were two girls in the clan, one old and one young. I actually thought that she was like 30, and the other girl player was about 20. Turns out I was wrong, the girl I came to love was 18 and the other girl was 50+, so I was abit off. Anyways, after meeting we kind of hit it off.

In any case, long story short, she loves First Person Shooters and racers and other variety of games, even MMO's... So whenever I need someone to play I have someone with!!

The bad part, she took a year off before going to college so she get's to play games all the time, and here I sit procrastinating from my studying for college by typing out this ridiculously overdone post on this lovely forum that I have visited about 5 times in the last 10 minutes... -_-

As good as that sounds, I'll take the good ole AK47... Maybe mix in a flashbang first so I don't have to see it...
