My girlfriend really doesn't care about my gaming although she has the annoying habit of calling me right in the middle of really important parts of games, like a cutscene that I actually want to watch and can't pause ARGH >_< but she does play. She can kick my butt in any music game. I occasionally play Guitar Hero with her. She could rock out a 98 percent on Psychobilly Freakout and still have the time and coordination to look over and tell me I'm holding the guitar controller backwards!

My girlfriend's what the ignorant person might call "emo", although not to a huge extent and she's into anime a bit, so she games occasionaly. Games like Fable 2 and COD4. And she uses an Xbox 360.......Every time she turns it on I can hear that insanely loud fan they have, it makes me laugh.

Where are you people finding these women?

Where is this land where women play video games?

Narnia? ;)

In all seriousness, good for you.

Just shows how far gamers as a community have come.
has anybody else noticed that only one other female besides myself has commented? And seriously, where are you guys? Because I would love to have a gamer bf who actually wanted to mp with me in games like fable ii, etc. Most of the time when I mention I have an xbox and they know i live without a brother or sig. other, guys act with surprise--are we (gamerchicks) all that sparse?

Is "significant other" some kind of silly politicaly correct term for your *****?
You arrogant moron. Being sexist is not funny, it doesn't make you cool it's just narrow minded, ignorant and unwanted.

I don't think it's that they're aren't a lot of Gamerchicks, but that gamerchicks and gamerdudes don't usually hang out with the same people or at the same places.

A good place to meet Gamerchicks/dudes is at conventions like PAX.

God I love PAX.

Well third girl chiming in then; I game, and my bf plays too. Together we play MMO's, we have played WoW, city of villains, Guildwars, FF11, and Lord of the rings online together.
We play rpg's mostly (oblivion, fallout, neverwinter nights) but also some mario, Devil may cry, that sort of stuff, and thief.
he games somewhat more then I do, because he has more time. I, on the other hand, work in the business itself.

Gamer chicks aren't all that rare, but when is a girl a gamer? Most girls that I know that game focus on a few games and keep playing them over and over.

Heck, my wife's a better gamer than I am in some aspects. She's hooked on RPGs of the Kingdom Hearts variety, tears it up in Mario Kart Wii (I mean literally - nobody I know can touch her), is a great partner for Guitar Hero, and is right now playing thru Little Big Planet with me.

She's even got mint-condition extra copies of Super Mario World and Zelda: a Link to the Past. She's beaten the hell out of those games.

Yes, I'm lucky.

i see your point. i do that sometimes, but then again, i usually get my suggestions for games to play from my bro who's going into the business and he knows what i like.

Well I myself play a wide variety of games, from rpgs to fps to platformers and racing games... everything but mmo's pretty much, i hate those ><|Ive dated a bunch of different guys, gamers and non gamers alike, and I tend to get along much better with those who game, (As gaming is such a big part of my life, i dont have much in common with those who dont.... o.o)
Plus, those who game ive found are suprisingly more mature, good natured and sweet ^^ The asshole trait is almost not existant (except for those run jump kill teabag tendencies they have XD Via yatzee)
So, all in all, guys who game are clarly way better than those who dont : P

My wife doesn't mind my gaming but I do. I waste too much time playing games and am trying to cut down.

If you think about it you can miss out on a lot of life if you get too involved in games, as with anything though.

That's why I like short single player games. Multiplayer games drag you in for hour upon hour and you get no real reward for it.

I have to disagree a little, both of my more serious relationships were with gamers, one asked me to marry him then cheated on me and the other tried to get with my best friend behind my back. sometimes you still have to weed out the assholes. (then again, they were both military so that could've had something to do with it)

My significant others would watch me play WoW, try it themselves, and then get OBSESSED with it. They'd be in high end raiding guilds, playing every night, and I'd be there...with my lvl 50.

My fiance likes D&D and the Black Isl Isometric stuff like Baulder's Gate and Ice Wind Dale. However she refuses to play anything 3D stating she can't get her head arround mouse keyboard movement. I know she has killer reflexes and hand eye coordination, but she just doesn't want to apply them to video gaming.

My wife is a hardcore World of Warcraft player and she while she doesn't really play anything else, she has at least a passing interest in the games that I play.

My wife is awesome :)

I love her lots.
She was watching while you typed that wasn't she?

Just kidding. Most of us who are lucky enough to get women who like gaming are very appreciative of that fact.
God, I wish she were, then she wouldn't be away for two days and she could buy Wrath of the Bloody Lich King herself.

I still love her though :)

My ex and I still play games together--particularly Titan Quest, which we both enjoy quite a bit. We're collecting as many unique and set items as we can.

He is actually more likely to get annoyed at *me* over abandoning him for a game, because I have superhuman powers of concentration and can play a game for an absurdly long period of time. But then he also gets annoyed when I do the same thing with the internet, books, writing, or any of my other hobbies that absorb large amounts of attention. He doesn't like being ignored and seems to view me as a source of entertainment.

I don't understand why someone would get upset that their S.O. is occasionally preoccupied with "me" time, but then I'm the sort of person who needs lots of "me" time. Still, even if you're married to someone, you don't own them.

My lady friend doesn't play games, and I don't play or talk about them around her. Occasionally she'll ask what I was up to that day, and I'll say "playing Half-Life," and she'll make a crack about how jealous she is about my love for Half-Life.

It's not a part of our relationship that's worth mentioning, really. Video games are a pretty small part of my life.

I've always played games, but my boyfriend got me even more into video games.
We're both quite lucky, because we like the same games, and I always kick his arse at Tekken.
:)
It's funny because he usually guides me through games that I start playing and he says something like, "The next bit is really hard, wait until you see me next, and I'll help you."
Then when we see each other again, I'm like, "I completed that part, found a weapon that does twice the damage and learnt a really powerful spell."
(Or something along those lines.)
He's happy to tell his friends that his girlfriend is a gamer. XD

Oh, and I seriously have most of his games, aside from the Star Wars ones and the ones for his PS3.
I've also got his PS2 slimline, some DVD's and his game cube.

I love him. :')
