Ive got 4 words about the best (imo) gun in this game:

Vladof TMP2/V3 Cold Torment

mine has a damage of 158 and an accuracy of 98 and finally (the reason this handgun is worth mentioning) a fire rate of 16! May not sound like alot,but i can empty a 20 bullet clip in 2 seconds flat,and im happy to prove that,if you guys want my GT.

I've actually had a few good cold torments, never one with damage that high though, did you find it on your second play through? I have a caustic machine pistol with 117 damage, 98 accuracy and 3x corrosive damage, with a fire rate around 10 I think. Like you, I can empty the clip in about 2 seconds.

Yeah, i love Jakobs though, awesome guns. especially their revolvers. I get a hard-on for a good revolver in borderlands.

I prefer Dahl weapons. They just work the best for me. Jakobs has some pretty kickass snipers, though...

OT: When you start comparing guns and the gun companies between actual people, as seen above, then you've played too much Borderlands.

Hahahah that's a good point. Actually, I've never really found a good machine gun... I've found great combat rifles, but never one that was called a machine gun.

I've definitely found other rare weapon types but this one had a unique name and the fact that I found it twice in the same play through was pretty disturbing. It doesn't happen often outside of the Eridian guns (is it just me or are there only like, 4 of those things?)

Since loot is semi-random, if you know the exact workings of the generator it's possible to always get the same weapon, but this would require perfect timing or extreme (bad)luck.
For the Eridian weapons, there are 4 base types and some randomized appearances there are also upgraded versions for higher level gameplay but there's almost no difference.

On-Topic: It's not that uncommon to find the same gun multiple times(well, the ones with special text). There's only a limited number of rare weapon abilities so the only difference will be in the stats and appearance of the weapon.(appearance is also often fixed)
