The graphics look bollocks and it looks about as good as Homecoming. I'll stick with SH2, thanks!

It's actually quite sad looking at this trailer. From the looks of things, it would be an amazing game, but a terrible Silent Hill game.
1. The NPCs all look really well hashed out with lots of personality. Unfortunately that takes away from the all important feeling of being completely alone. In SH2 the fact that the characters were all insane, yet placid made it incredibly creepy.
2. Don't really care for the Alan Wake/Heavy Rain vibe I got from the trailer. Not in Silent Hill please.
3.The Dark World transition seems underwhelming at best, and the enemies are fairly generic.
4. The whole prison sequence, well... Actually that sounds pretty freakin' awesome, but I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up too much.

Silent Hill VIII? The American games counted? Even if they do, where's 7? 0-4, Homecoming, the remake of 1 (forcing that as 6 in this case), missing game, and now 8?

Wow, I was not expecting such a lukewarm reception. I like that this time it is a criminal in Silent Hill that may or may not have any attachment to the town at all, but it's too early to tell.
The trailer was released yesterday. I can't really answer why they call it 8 (I like numerals) though.child of lileth said:

Hmm, well let's see. If Homecoming is SH5 then Shattered Memories is 6, I suppose. And Origins is a 5 or a 7, depending on how you look at it. Twisted and confusing, but hey. I like numbers.child of lileth said:

My hopes arn't high but it might be good i'm one of the few who thought Homecomming was ok not great but still ok.

I'm excited if it's a proper Silent Hill and not some crappy American knock-off, which is why I refused to play Homecoming.
I want it to be good, I really do and the trailer feature some nice psychological effects but the poor graphics is a bit of a turn off

I'm a huge fangirl of the series, but surprisingly I'm not very excited. I will get it when it comes out for sure, just don't think the otherworld looks very scary. This is just a teaser trailer, but it feels so open. I think my heart sank a bit back with silent hill 4, the trailers made it look incredibly scary but the game turned out not to be so.
