Every shotgun in Bad Company 2 is ridiculously overpowered. I mean seriously, most of them nearly have the same range as a sub machine gun.
...That...that's how real shotguns work. They don't sent out a massive 'cloud' of pellets that totally miss anything farther than 5 feet away. They shoot a tight grouping with a pretty decent amount of accuracy. They use shotguns to shoot skeet, yanno.
problem is in bc2 people tend to use them with slugs and for some reason slugs are stupid accurate and deadly in that game, like sniper rifle deadly, one shot kill in hardcore mode
I appreciate what your saying but they're also called SHOTguns for a reason. When the cartridge or slug breaks apart it sends the shots in generally the same direction but because they're individual shots their penetrating power is drastically reduced which is why they are more effective at close range. Now I'm not suggesting that Bad Company should be the most realistic game in the world because that would just ruin the fun of it, but the shotties' damage should be reduced from a certain range, more for balance than anything else, because to be honest I'm getting sick of unloading a clip from an AR into some guy only for him to snipe me with a combat shottie. Other than that I love the game
the really silly part is that a rifle round has much more kinetic force then a blast of buckshot or a slug but in every game the assualt rifle tends to be rather weak for game balance, halo reach is really bad at that, there are 2 assualt rifles, both rounds would be traveling at roughly the same velocity but one is much more powerful then the other just because its a single shot weapon

game balance annoys me sometimes

Saints Row the Third has a giant dildo duct taped onto a large metal rod.

...So that's fun.
in what way is that overengineered. and i think it would work. mainly because of the bigass metal rod...
OT: Cloud Strife's sword from FFVII. rule of thumb: if your sword is that big, you better be driving a mech of some form. in fact, any sword that is that massive.

I want to mention the Giant Nail on Bang's back in the Blazblue series. Yeah I know it's got sentimental reasons, and he doesn't really use it much, but Bang my man, you would move so much faster without it.

I guess maybe the plus is it's supposed to make him that much stronger, like piccolo's 50 pound robes. And when it does come out it makes an impression... Still, I'd leave the 150 pound nail at home.

Many Earthworm Jim-related weapons are very silly indeed. And indeed, so are some of the things from MDK and MDK2.

Im downloading Bards Tales right now, I distinctly Remember a talking Axa that has a purple Aura surrounding it and you can also play it like a lute BUT instead of making string like noises it actually sings. and i also think that it makes remarks when you kill something with it, that im not sure of though.

In Fatal Frame you use a Camera, a MAAAGical camera yes, but the original Camera obscura was an invention during the Renascence Period to render shadows on paper.(I think) Now its used to exercise ghost. Plus it has the ability to teleport from place to place when its needed for whichever girl with a troubled past needs it.

Yay for sciencey sounding conversations, but seriously ARs tend to be weaker because the more you fire the less you hit. Like you said a rifle round has more kinetic force than a slug or cartridge. Now consider an assault rifle like the infamous AK47. The AK47 is capable of firing 600 rounds per minute. That's 10 rounds every second. Do you think that your body has time to readjust for each of those rounds in a fraction of a second. Unless you were made of solid granite and had vice-grips coated with glue for hands, I'd reckon there'd be a lot of spray and a lot of stray bullets. That's why it's better to fire in short bursts.

most modern assault rifles have a selector to change how it fires, I think the ak47's selector is safety, single shot and full auto

Groovatron, and every single animal changing gun from Rachet&Clank series

They are all totatly awsome tho
Agreed. I have always been a fan of the Quack-o-matic. Something about that kamikaze devil-chicken just sits well with me (also brilliant for that Ameoba sewer crystal side-mission).

OT: Any weapon for Xiao that isn't the Bandit Slingshot is superfluous. It is the only wwepon you will need, and it evolves into a weapon that essentially has permanent regen (and being a ranged weapon, losing health should never be an issue).

ok so Ive been playing more then a lil halo reach online recently since I got gold for 2 bucks for 2 months, anyway I play allot of firefight and rocket matches come up allot and it occurs to me how badly designed the rocket launcher in that game is

I mean look at it, why does it have 2 barrels? Why do the barrels rotate as it fires? why does the handle move when your getting ready to fire? why does it also look like when you reload it your putting in 2 new barrels?

the whole thing is amazingly badly thought out and much more complicated then it needs to be and it would be much more expensive to produce then a simpler design not to mention the duel barrels would make it heavy as hell.

so post some more weapons in games that are over engineered or just plan silly to the point of probably not working
The halo rocket launcher was originally from Marathon. A game famous for having a gun that looked like a purple nerf gun.

As for me, I'd say Cloud's Sword. Bigger does not always mean better with swords. I don't care how strong you are.

The monkey cymbal bombs in CoD: Black Ops. They are funny and effective, but rather stupid.

Alice, 1 & 2 have some weird weapons >.> a jack in the box, dice, playing cards, in 2 there's a toy horse and a pepper grinder machine gun in 2

Ratchet and Clank, pretty much, ANY gun from those games

Shadow Hearts, Frank the ninja from 3, any thing he uses as a weapon >.> also, Hilda from 3 and Joachim from 2, >.> yeah ... not really the weapons they use, (though Joachim certainly has the weirdest ones by far) but the event for their 'ultimate' skill, the 'man festival' .... yeah ... it can not be unseen

I'm going to say the Gauss Flayers from Dawn of War Dark Crusade. I mean, they shoot green lightning instead of highspeed projectiles! Who looked up Gauss weaponry and thought "You know what this needs LIGHTNING!"

That's the daft background from the tabletop games rearing its stupid head. 40k Fluff describes necron gauss guns as being like disintegration rays or something. I guess that they figured that calling it them disintegrators would be too logical so they randomly grabbed around for something that sounded cool.

I'd like to nominate the camera in Fatal Frame.

"Oh man, how am I gonna fight off all these ghosts?" *Picks up camera* "Aha! Time to go all Pokemon snap on these bitches!"

Ah yes, the almighty camera obscura. That thing takes me back to some memories...oh god...not the horror...don't want to relive the nightmare that is Fatal Frame 3...

OT: I will say the gunblade from Final Fantasy - in what way would that actually work? The balance on the sword would be terrible and the action on the gun would be worse.

All of Frank's swords in Shadow Hearts: From the New World were fairly ridiculous, though the Swordfish Sword

manage to be the most befuddling implements in the South American Ninja's arsenal.
I'd have said the Axe of Disharmony in Fable 2 but that let me complete the I-No from Guilty Gear costume for the heroine of the story.
