Okay, to me, this game looks EXACTLY like Sims 2. The graphics aren't that good, and really when it comes down to it you're just going to be paying for 10 more expansions again. The big thing this time around is that you can give your Sim a personality....wow, really? That's it? That's your justification of another $40? Thanks EA.

The point: it's bound to sell by the planetload, and so will the inevitable "expansion" packs.

Which in turn means money for EA. Lots of money.

I wonder if The Sims 3 will manage to be even worse than Spore?

Well, it fixes MY biggest complaint, REAL-TIME OPEN WORLD NO FRAKKING LOADING SCENES.

...

Make that "complaints".

Anyway, there IS more than that, only very thick developers give away all the new stuff before hand.

Oh, wait...

You can make them fat.

It also has an "Asian-ness" slider in creation, as PCGamer called it.

Also - new ways to torture the little buggers.

I guess I'm just kinda sick cause I love to do evil things to them. I think it keeps me from ever wanting to do a real person harm, I get all my evilness and thoughts out on those pixels instead.

This also goes for any other game I play, I get more satisfaction out of cutting someone in half with my lancer bayonet or 2 piecing a poor soul than I rightfully should

Okay, I'll try not to, only as I fear you may drop me down an elevator shaft if I do...!

What?
Don't worry. Guys like those have a tendency to not stick around very long. Either that, or they do stick, but manage to learn some grammar. Either way. Nothing to worry about. Give'm some time.

Also. A female friend of mine is hyped about this game. I have no idea why. She does, after all, own Sims 2 ... But hey. If it keeps you happy.

ALso. What is it that I'm seeing? Is not Maxis any part of it any more?

In my opinion, The Sims is a thing of it's time. The original was an accessible PC game that was entertaining for your average joe and many 11-14 year olds with a lot of time on their hands (from my experience that specific group were the ones who usually played it, including me). With most the game quickly loses its appeal and you simply run out of stuff to do. When Sims 2 came around I had just about grown out of the Sims phase but decided to give it a go. My word, there was hardly any difference! I was expecting absolutely tonnes of stuff to be added that simply wasn't there.

The Sims will still have its market, but for me watching silly 3D people talk like babies is enough to make me cringe. The whole look and feel is so off putting and I'm glad I've evolved past the shallow appeal the game has.

The problem is that EA has not signaled that they will integrate the multiple hundreds of dollars people have spent on the expansions already. If you followed it from the begining, I would hazard that you have spent close to $1000 if you have bought every expansion. If only EA would give you some way to integrate at least a fraction of your previous content, I think the game would be worthit although I know that EA would never in a million years deprive themselves of having people spend $30 for 100 new items...

Seriously, if they would let us enter our uberz secritz gmz codez somewhere to prove that we bought the previous packs and maybe unlcock 50 extra items from the sets I would consider the purchase. Until then, I am perfectly content with trotting out the original whenever the mood strikes me.

New features:

-Yes, the personality thing is one. Instead of changing dials you choose traits for your Sims, like moron or kiss ass (ok, maybe not thoughts two).

-Constant open world, everyone doing everything at the same time in one huge neighborhood.

-Customize individual objects and pieces of furniture.

I'm looking forward to it. I find it pretty two faced that the people who usually say graphics don't matter kick up a fuss when they don't meet their standards. The technology behind a constantly working neighborhood, if it works, is quite a leap for the Sims.

But whatever,I'm a dude and I'm hyped for the Sims 3. What you going to do?

I'm going to admire your courage, and then step back =P

On a more serious note, though. I don't think they said like that the graphics had to be better. I think they just mentioned it, because that's usually the main trait for making a new game in a series .. Or is this franchise?

.....making sims of your friends... then ignoring them... and having them die naked, depressed and lonley on the bathroom floor was worth pirating sims2....
