Perfect Dark 64 had a good solution to this: the knife was poisoned and would guarantee a kill, but it took about fifteen seconds to kill someone at full health, not to mention primary famage was pretty bad as well. You would usually only get one kill off of it, and the throwing range was crap, but the fact that the other person would almost certainly kill you was a major downside since stealth was hard.

Game dynamic, want more real? Join an army. Jeez these sorts of complaints piss me off, how about you get your sniper a little more powerfull and get their knifes nerfed and they roll in in their stealth bombers and tanks while you look for food because they have the money to be better equipped.

I disagree with you, with knives you actually have to get close enough to the bastard, as for a sniper you can pick guys off from across the map! Honestly if you have successfully gotten close enough to make the knife kill, you deserve it to be one stab.

personally, I love the knife. Its pretty satisfying when you land a kill, especially on one of your friends :D
but I do want the knife to be abolished ):

anyone else miss playing COD2 for a few minutes and then halfway through something important, like trying to kill someone or leave a comment you hear the daunting sound of a rage-enducing, aggrevating, frustra-HUMILIATION!

A more important question is: Why can everyone suddenly throw grenades across 3 blocks of houses and why do said grenades create explosions that kill everything in a 10 metre radius?
Just to pick this up: Grenades should have a good chance to be be fatal within a 10m radius. The modern M67 hand grenade is pretty much guaranteed fatal within 5m and guaranteed to wound within 15m, and they can be thrown 30m by the average soldier. It's only videogames that make you think they have all the explosive power of a gnat's fart.

Balancing is far more important than realism.
Exactly. If it took more than one stab to kill, there would be no incentive to do it, and short range combat would come down to who has the better gun for close quarters, rather than reflexes/cunning.
^I think I'm having that sensation that feels like agreement.

Its just like how a back of a gun does more damage to the back of someone's head (helmet) then a 50. cal

who the fuck cares? you were killed in a video game, this sounds like a rant. just wait until someone mentions "juggernaut"
JUGGERNAUT?! God dammit, I hate Juggernaut...

OT: I think the OHK from the knife is actually one of the better ideas I've seen in an FPS. Gone are the days of Halo's retarded rifle-butt fights. It's also an incredibly rewarding way to get back at your rival if you manage to knife them several times without them ever seeing you.

Rifle butt fights feel better IMO especially when you OHK them in the back of the head :3

I don't think you can be killed "more" by any one thing. Once you are killed I don't think you can be killed "more" or "less."

But in any case I agree with what you're saying. While knifing someone is a greater risk to take, it should still have balanced damage. I mean if you get knifed in the throat or head then yes, I can see it being an instant kill.

whether its a stab wound or gsw, it all depends on where the attack hits. In a game it depends on how realistic the made the damage done on bodies. Take FO3, you can cripple limbs when targeting certain parts of the body.

I've got a better one, why every now and then, can you spray 10 clean hits into someone and they turn round and go *bang bang* and you're dead.
Hax. I heard a quote once that said, "If Counter-Strike has taught me anything, it's that if someone's better than me, they're probably cheating."

One reason is because you can't spell.

But it is balancing issues they want more fun than realism.

The Battlefield series is annoying with the whole knifing what not. You can be shooting them with assault rounds and they only have to prone and knife your legs. It should at least only be a one hit kill from chest high or from behind.
