You say that, and yet I think of you as one of the old-guard on this site. Hmm...

Anyway, I have to say FMLife. It's occasionally funny, but it's usually filled to the brim with people just missing the point.

Considering how my ban is inevitable for something that will no doubt be as retarded as a DVD Rewinder, I stopped caring about the Escapist as much as I did when we had two threads full of crying. No offense, but back in '08, we never had people whining over threads. Those people got told to shut the fuck up and deal with it. Now, it seems like the mods have to rush over to anyone who shows a sign they might be about to cry, and does anything to get them to stop crying, like the father who doesn't care about his child, and only does stuff for him to get him to shut the hell up during the game.

Oh yeah, 2008 was definitely better. I hate all those "Oh noes, our forum is dying!!" threads, but even I admit that. That said, as far as whining goes, I don't think you were paying much attention. Lot's of people whined. Less people than now, but there were less total people on the site. Sure, they may have been told to shut up by Taxi Driver or Richard Groovy Pants, but they're pretty much universally regarded as clever trolls in hindsight.

True, but now it seems like the mods are trying to please everyone, instead of telling a few idiots to handle it by themselves or fuck off, they rush in and just lock the thread as soon as trouble shows up. Before, people would argue it out, and then just drop it. Now, it's "FUCK YOU, REPORTED!", and then the thread is locked because little Johnny can't handle the thought of being talked to.

I suppose. Honestly, though, I find it hard to fault them for that. I don't think it's that standards have changed, it's that a)people now understand the Report system and b)we now have more than two mods. For part A, remember how almost no one reported back then? It was just over all less emphasized- by the users, that it, mods always emphasized it. For part B, we may be able to call that a wash, since the size of the community has increased faster than that of the Red Guard, but even so, that means mod coverage at times of the day in which both Wilson and Nil would be asleep, and therefore not covering the forums.

I like youtube, don't get me wrong. I just hate all of the CRAP that is on it. You type in something you want to see and you get fifty things that are hardly related to it that are made by some guy in his basement.

eh. happens sometimes. it's only their fault for not tagging it properly...
HOWEVER... you CAN blame 4chan, sites like 4chan and Encyclopedia Dramatica for fucking up the internet.

Technically, I also try shopping for them on Amazon, but those two sites are usually more reliable.

And despite buying most of my collection from the J-List booth at Comic Con, their site creeps the hell out of me. >_>
