The video game that puts people in the environment that soldiers had to face in the war will no longer be released due to people deeming it offensive and inappropriate because soldiers died and its a terrible thing to show the world. My question to you is: Are we living in a world were we are so PC that we can no longer show the world dramatic events in our lives because they don't want to feel sad or come to terms with reality? When Black Hawk Down first came out everyone thought it was a great movie, and it was based on real life.

Konami were just scared of all the negative responses they recieved - tbh i am sure that another smaller publisher may pick the project up as it could do for them what GTA did for DMA Design (Rockstar North)

Just No, people find every violent game offencive, I think telling the story of a group of braze marines in a real life situation is a great way to bring across the horrors of war, and if it is a accurate portrayal then i dont see the problem. The gaming industry really needs to grow up.

As long as they don't make you kill digital dogs I cannot see the problem.

I read this today at school. Its stupid. Why dosen't anyone say something about WWII games?
Because noone from WWII cares anymore. It's crazy advocates that don't seem to realize that people do die. And while it's sad, the only difference between this and other war games is this one is happening now.

Damn that's annoying. I'm not sure if I would have actually bought the game but it's more the principal of the thing. I know it's unlikely, but I really hope someone out there still has the balls to release the game and to hell with what the alarmist tabloid crackpots think.

Edit: Actually, your just highlighting the fact that Konami have pulled out of publishing the game, right? That may be a pity, but it's not quite ultimate death knell for the game. It'll be interesting to see if any other publisher will pick it up.

Considering how fast Konami pulled out I hope so, it seems they did it that fast to prevent even more bad media, The way people reacted I doubt it will be touched for quite some time.

I like how we romantisize WW2 because it was a win, but a game that could actually make you feel like your in a real war is banned. If I was the developer I would "accidentally" leak and unfinished veriosn onto the interwebz for free, show those fucks up

Perhaps they'll be able to release it on Steam instead if no one picks it up. Just a thought, mind. I wonder if part of the reason (despite the "war" being depicted being quite recent) is due to the fact that Iraq hasn't exactly gone down as one of the resounding successes of our times.

Funnily enough, as they said in an episode of Argumental that was on, they said "the war, which lasted 3 weeks, was a success. It's the 6 years of peace that followed that was a f***ing disaster".

It's not the gaming industry, mate, it's the public/nongamers. The gaming industry is/was making the game and the nongamers are the people who think it's offensive. It's them who need to grow up.
