Well I've been getting into it lately and I was wondering what some of your favorite was.

I like Streetlight Manifesto and Sublime.

If you like Streetlight try Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution or Gimp, they're Thomas Kolnaky's (sp?)other works.

ska's the way forwards. go for pepper, Ska-p, (who are spanish) or transplants if you want something more like sublime, but otherwise go for reel big fish, less than jake, no doubt ormustard plug if you want somethigng more modern.
Big d and the kids table need looking up as well...

Five Iron Frenzy, The Israelites, The Arrogant Sons of Bitches (more like ska-core but still great), Supertones, Save Ferris, Reel Big Fish, Dance Hall Crashers, and No Doubt's first three albums.

Ska is awesome and highly underrated.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, close thread, move on, etc. Just kidding. There's a ton of great ska out there. My VERY personal opinion though: the sooner you get the hell away from Sublime's "wexican stoner bro-ska" and start getting into stuff like Toasters, Aggrolites, Bosstones, Hepcat...the list is endless, the better.

I'm a fan of ska, not huge, but I appreciate it. Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sublime, Reel Big Fish. All good stuff.

Longbeach Dub All Stars has a few guys from Sublime in it.

If you like Reel Big Fish then try Forces of Evil, it's a sub band the lead singer went away and made after Cheer Up which is more angry at everyone and everything but still in an upbeat happy tone. (Cheer Up was kind of like that as well, but not as obvious)

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are awesome as well. I could give you a huge list but what you've given is quite different so I wouldn't know what you'd like.

Streetlight Manifesto came from Catch 22, so have a look at their stuff. The whole of SMs Keasbey Nights album was done by Catch 22 first. Dunno if you knew that or not but if you didn't there is a whole 3 albums by that band for you to look at.

I saw these guys live some time ago for free here in the Netherlands. One of the better nights out I've had. Such a fun band to see live.

never really listened to this genre of music before and I have to say that I am currently hooked. Thank you very much. Can't say I like sublime though...

SKA! Skaaaaaaaa. oh, ska. I love ska. I play ska! If anyone is interested, my band has a cd coming out and a tour coming up to promote it (east coast). If anyone wants to hear anything, the necessary links are in my profile. The band name is Corporate Fandango

Incidentally,

That was a great comment.

As for bands: Streetlight, Bosstones, Toasters, Catch 22, and The Aquabats! Among many others. I also like ska-related things like Cherry Poppin Daddies or the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Swing, etc. Anyway, i'll try to stop rambling.

If anyone has love for any skacore, i've played a couple times with a terrific band called "A Billion Ernies." They deserve a listen, seriously.

Not to mention the first Catch 22 album (which i think may actually have been mentioned).

Less Than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish, and a couple of songs by Save Ferris is all of my current collection of ska. Oh and one song by Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Assorted Jelly Beans are a sick ska-punk band
If anybody here likes a little bit heavier music, there's a Canadian crust punk band that mixes in a little bit of ska influence called Leper

Any other ska-related stuff I like is basically just the Specials and Madness

THIS! A million times this! Not only the part where he praises my comment, but the part about A Billion Ernies. ABE and a bunch of other awesome bands on the Community Records and Quote Unquote Records labels. Bomb the Music Industry!, Stuck Lucky, The Stress, A Billion Ernies, The Flaming Tsunamis, Fatter Than Albert, (the very awesome) Matt Wixon, the list borders on severe tl; dr. You can get a lot of their stuff for free on their own websites since they're donation based (donate, if possible, support the scene).

I grew up with Madness, The Beat, Skatalites, Crazy 8's, The Specials, Fishbone, Skankin' Pickle, Toasters... lately there's been the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, The Hippos, early No Doubt, Aquabats... mostly the California dancehall revival stuff.
I kinda dig ska.

There are a lot of great ska bands out there. Most of my favorites have already been named: A Billion Ernies, Less Than Jake, Sublime (though the ska label is debatable), Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Reel Big Fish.

The early albums from No Doubt were also fantastic. If you're just getting into ska, they've got a pretty solid lineup from their self titled debut and Tragic Kingdom, which is also my personal favorite.

Post 2000 No Doubt is borderline blah, though...only a few stand-alone singles that really shine. Even there, the ska sound is largely gone.
