skipping class stops having any meaning as soon as you realise that nothing actually happens when you do.

In high school I never skipped class, but in college I'd do it all the time, mostly because I didn't feel like going or had something else to do.

When and why have any of you skipped class?

Edit: I skip class when I want to hang out with friends, mostly if I have Italien. I'm curently learning Italien, German and French. Italien doesn't count into my gpa, so basicly I have a class I can't fail.
I don't know how you would skip Italien, I've never heard of it......Italian :p

OT I've never skipped class, except for when I was to sick to take it

I skipped class when i was bored, wanted to go home, or go to a café with friends or thought there might be someone in the café that i know.
We skipped a lot. in grades 12 and 13 i barely made a week without skipping 1-3 classes.I especially history...i guess i skipped it much more than i attended So i got a bad mark for the lessons and got A's or B's for the tests.
As long as you can keep up with the lessons and got your marks it wasnt a big problem, though we could write our own excuses over age 18.

Wow... that's odd. Why?
Why I go to a Baptist school, or why I am an atheist?
I go to a Baptist because I'm not the one paying for my education.
I'm an Atheist because I value logic over faith.

EDIT: I go to High School.

Im similar. Im an Atheist but I am forced to take Catholic Classes by force because my father is a f**king fundamentalist. Its sad really most people here are so ignorant of religion. My grandma and father don't even know what the inquisition was. I skipped a few classes for this reason.

When I was in school, I didn't really skip much. When I did, it was usually because the class was full of idiots. In the case of English, it was because the teacher was an idiot.

As for university... well, isn't the whole student stereotype based on doing nothing but sleeping and drinking? :p Nahhhh... while I'm definitely guilty of occasionally waking up and deciding I can't be bothered, I try not to miss too much. That said, there's one class that simply isn't worth going to - I gain nothing from going to the lecture because the tutor has a heavy accent and I struggle to understand much of what he's saying. Luckily, the lecture notes are downloadable and copious enough to make lecture attendance redundant.

The only time I have ever skipped class was to go to a Parade when the Boston Red Sox won the world series in 07. I missed the whole day of school to watch the floats go down the streets and I gotta say, it was worth it. That is definitly gonna be a memory I will treasure when I look back on my life.

When I was in school I'd skip because I hated the lessons or the teachers taking them. I also once skipped to have a snowball fight and we got caught by the head of school. I got detention and my parents got a phone call, but as it was a snowy day 2/3 of the school didn't turn up anyway so they weren't to bothered.

When I was at uni the main reason I'd skip...hangovers...and going to bed at 5am with 9/10am lectures.

I skip lab day in one of my classes. All we do there is just work on the homework we have to do online anyway, and I can just do that from home. There's no point in wasting time to go out to class if I can just sit in my room and do the exact same thing.

Every other class I have is 100% online, so I can't really skip them. lol

I skip to avoid teachers rather than students. I have monstrous bitches for Spanish and Geography so I take every chance I can to avoid them.
Luckily I'm very endeared among the non-teaching staff so if they catch me they let me off.

Skipped a fair amount in college, when it was easier in large lectures. It's usually a risk/reward type of thing when you decided to skip - what will you miss vs. what will you do if you don't go?
