If there's little to no lag and they've sufficiently practiced them (meaning on and on for hours on end) it should be a good 95% of the time if you're good.

Now, the game is new and most people online just are bad period but you will indeed see some like that Valentine you mention which will pull off their combos consistently, it's one of the easiest parts of the game as it only requires a lot of execution and no mind-reading skills or reaction times of a sixth of a second so it's like the most beneficial work/reward ratio.

Haha, don't mention it! I'm glad you're having as much fun with the game as you are. :D

It may seems snobby or w/e to some but if you do work for your fun, it really is a higher quality of fun and quite a bit more meaningful.

Maybe you had lag, maybe you pressed the button too slow, maybe it was a low/overhead and you were blocking the wrong way. Those are all the possibilities.

This game has an infinite-prevention system where if you get hit by an infinite you see pink flashes around your char and pressing any button will escape the combo. If you did not see those pink flashes, it was not an infinite, just a really really really long combo. If it included Valentine's green syringe it makes sense because the syringe's effect is to increase your hitstun, enabling longer-than-typical combos which are not infinites.

As for the move not coming out when you want it, you're just imputing it wrong, there's no glitch or anything, your fingers just aren't used to doing the moves with the proper timing yet.

As for Cerebella stuff, here's something kinda worth knowing:

Oh wow, that is what the green thing did? I thought it just healed her. Well that definitely explains it. Thanks!

Okay, I will go practice the hairball (and that long combo of Filia's, damn tutorial mode). I will also try to do some of those combos of Cerebella. How often (when playing online) are people able to use those long arse combos?
Using Bella against Peacock, make use of her reflector move (the one where she does the finger bang) but be warned that she usually is a bad match-up against Peacock in the same way that a solo Peacock is a bad match-up against Val.

You may want to get a good assist for Cerebella to cover her in that aspect. Good assists in this game include:

-Peacock's iem drop.
-Double's but slam.
-Parasoul's napalm pillar.
-Filia's "shoryuken".

Why does this game seem to be like the anti rage? I came to Skullgirls to chill out after playing some UMVC3... A fighting game as a chill out tool? Dafaq is this?!

I was getting my ass destroyed by Painwheel and I wasn't raging in the slightest... Btw the one Painwheel combo where she just loops the same three or four moves about 4 times into a sort of grab into a super? Yeah fuck that.'S like FOOT-FOOT DIVE! all over again XD The amount of hitstun on her moves looks to be Baby's First Combo levels

I can't even tell when the reset occurs half the time... And I can't even go into "look at the pretty art style" mode because it's Painwheel!

Well back to never playing ranked games ever again! It's worked fine in UMVC3 it'll work well in Skullgirls! Why is it even called ranked? There are no ranks on display are there?

Y'know i'm actually gonna go and download the character guide from the website. I want my Valentine/Parasoul team. My Parasoul is a complete shambles,I can't even figure out basic links... I can't get her kicks to combo at all
