So over the course of E3 we got to see a couple of interesting VR titles. But the two that seem to be hyped up the most are Skyrim( PSVR) and Fall out 4 ( Vive/OCCULUS).

I have to admit, Skyrim has made me want to buy a PSVR. I was on the fence before ( i made another thread about VR not too long ago), but now i think I'm ready to take the plunge. I am so excited for this game, and am glad i didn't buy the remaster for ps4.

Vr is, imo, shaping up to be more than just a fad. Sure there will be shovelware and tech demos along the way, but i feel that there is real substancial potential in VR. The problem is it's hard to sell people potential. The more support a system gets, the more developpers and publishers will take it seriously. The more devs and pubs take it seriously, the more games and better experiences we will get.

For VR to be sucessfull people actually need to be buying the systems that use VR. So now with the inclusion of Skyrim VR. I ready to throw my hat into the ring and try to contribute to the world of VR.

Discussion value: i know most people here , as per my other thread, are not convinced about VR yet. Has this E3 made any of that change? For the better? For the worst? Neutral? And what do you think about SKYRIM and Fallout 4 coming to VR? I this going to be the system seller we need?

Honestly, I don't think Skyrim has an appeal at all anymore outside of PC. I really enjoyed my Vanilla experience as a whole, but there was a load of shit that I had to wade through to get there.

I don't see how Skyrim could do well on VR either. The game becomes enough of a clusterfuck with a controller or KBM. Even while using third person it can get confusing as to how many draugr are trying to ram their spears up your butt. I don't even want to think how hard it would be to get sniper kills with a bow and arrow.

For Fallout, well, I think it could actually work. The game is a lot more simplistic than Skyrim thanks to VATs and the general watered down-ness of the game.

I'm done with Skyrim. Even with mods. I tried playing again recently and I just couldn't muster the effort to visit the same locations and talk to the same people.

And I didn't like Fallout 4 in the first place.

Are these actually Skyrim and Fallout 4 in VR, or is it VR experiences based on the games?

I haven't seen much of Fallout VR, but I'm very skeptical of Skyrim VR. I don't expect it to be the full game in VR mode, but just a on-rails experience where you fight waves of enemies using motion controllers.

Nope, no change. A couple of games that are kinda unnecessary for VR (Fallout 4 and DOOM) and a game form 2012 aren't exactly high priorities for me, especially given they'll most likely be cut-down versions in comparison to the full versions I already own and play. Probably just fancy tech demos more than anything, really, which will at least hopefully get more industry clout for the system and more people working on actual games for VR.

Granted, VR is unfeasible for me anyway - too expensive, takes up too much space and too physically taxing on me. Until they fix the actual problems it has I can't get it, no matter how many unnecessary games they stick on it. Maybe if it had some actual games on it and didn't require so much space/standing...

It's been confirmed it's the full game. Not merely a "Experience based on Skyrim". So you"ll be sneaking, tomb raiding, slaying dragons and throwing magic in VR. It will also include all previous DLC

However it will most likely be vanilla Skyrim Without mods which i guess will be a dealbreaker for some.

Skyrim came out on the xbox 360. I don't understand why people think ( thought) the ps4 and psvr couldn't run it. It's a 6 year old game ( god I'm old).

Some people like trying new things. If you don't want one fine, but shitting on other peoples enjoyment, isn't very nice.

We gotta let it run it's course, just like every other retarded gimmick.
I'm actually more surprirsed people still give a shit about Bethesda "RPG"s, so much so as to the point that flogging the Skyrim horse still rings out pennies. For fuck's sake it's 2017 and Todd Howard is still showcasing this shit at E3.
I really wonder, honest to god. If this is the same thing people thought about Videogames back in the 80s. Or 3d polygons back in the 90s. Or online multiplayers in the early 00s.

It's a marvel videogames have advanced at all with attitudes like this.

Real talk. Do you think the people who bought and play VR regularly get no enjoyment out of it and only pretend to feel like they got their money's worth out of the system?

Like i said , not wanting one is fine, but atraight up ridiculing people for buying into it is kinda unnecessarily mean. But then again console wars and pc vs consoles are still a think in 2017 so.

Maybe it is true that cynacism and pessimism has taken over the gaming community.

Oh yeah, sure. The prospect of sweating my ass off under an uncomfortable pair of goggles for hours with a bucket in front of me for the inevitable attack of motion sickness really makes me crave that VR experience.

Like, I don't get it. Is there even a game released after 2010 which is less suited to VR? Fallout and Elder Scrolls are games you play for hours on end and they both have super shitty graphics. You also spend ages flicking through menus in both, whether you're in combat, crafting something or gathering loot. Those are all arguments AGAINST VR. The Doom one I get, but these 2 open world titles? Its gonna crash and burn. There is no way to make Skyrim VR tolerable enough to convince someone to put 100 hours into it, but that directly contradicts its quantity over quality design.
but i REALLY like fallout 4 like 1800 hours like :D

My post was so nice you quoted it twice, eh? 😏

Well, if it has already been confirmed to be the full game in VR, then I stand corrected.

With this new information I can say that my interest in VR has certainly gone up, not enough to buy it yet because I still want to see more games, but I can see myself buying the PS VR in a year or so.

Honestly, i think people want an open world VR title probably just as much as they want a online MMO in VR. I'll be honest, i have absolutely no idea how it will look, or play in VR. However, personally, a game like this is a dream come true. Being able to explore caves and temples, climb mountains, fight dragons. Its like DnD without the imagination. Hell i might just sit on top of a mountain and read the in game books.

It's the potential, the possibilities that makes me excited. I don't expect it to be perfect. I expect some clunk, but to me, it feels like the first step in the direction of true open world VR rexperiences.

Imagine this game does well, and besthesday decides to make a team dedicated to building a true open world game from the ground up for VR. That gets me excited. Sure regular games are here to stay, but think there is definitely a market for this.

Those who will take offense are the ones that know they fucked up.If they really enjoy their gimmick they won't care about my opinion.Poeple have the uncanny abillity of justifying bad purchasses.I mean how many schmucks got suckered into buyng a 3D tv.
For VR not to be a gimmick it has to pass several small hurdles
First it has to compete with already established products like the TV - Why would i buy a VR headset for X amount of cash when i already own a device, prefectly designed to be used while sprawling on the couch .What does it offer that the TV-set doesn't?
Second - it's a headset. How long can you last wearing the damn thing before it becomes annoying?
Third - Eyerelief. My Tv is across the room. This thing on the other hand has to be strapped to my face.Again how long before my eyes begin to hurt
Fourth - Social interaction - you can't share a headset, so playing with you friends is out of the question, unlike for say a console witch has several controller ports.
Fifth - general comfrot -while i play games be it on the PC or the console i like having a drink, a snack, a wank. How am i going to easily have a beer when i can't see whats happening around me, cause of the freaking headset. Also if i need to go take a piss i have to remove the headset and the accompaning wires, insetead of just hitting a single pause button.
So yes, untill someone invents the Holodeck from Star Trek, i'm calling it a gimmick.
It's not about taking offense ( i know this offense culture is popular now) but about having a discussion or debate. This is a discussion forum after all.

1)i dont see why it has to compete with a television. Everyone already owns a TV. The main reason to buy VR is for immersion. That is the main selling point. To feel like you are IN the game. Thats an entirely different market than what Televisions are for.

2) People can, and do wear these things for hours on end sometimes 5 or 6 hours. Some people got motionsick and some didn't. Those who did, needed to take breaks after 30 or so minutes of play. That usually lasts about a week ( depending on how much they played and what games they played). After that there felt no motion sickness when playing and could play for hours no problem.
Of course this depends on the person. The headsets are quite confortable, especially the Psvr.

3) I'll be honest i know nothing about eyestrain and haven't really heard anything about it. I'm no optometrist, and the tech is too young to talk about longterm affects.

4) Most if not all the games have the gameplay shown on the television if you wish, some games also have pass and play modes. Social interaction doesn't seem to have taken a hit. Its no worst than watching your friend watch you play and pass him the controller. And akin to the WIIU, if you only have 1 television, at least for the PSVR, you can play the PSVR and have something entirely different on the TV, if your family wants to watch TV.

5) invest in a catheter. ( this is a joke). Okay this one is entirely true. Bathroom breaks and esting food/drink can be a problem. As for having a wank, well there is VR Porn, so theres that ;).

Skyrim VR could be pretty good if it's on a decent system. Any news on a PC VR version? Though really, I'd rather Bethesda stop wasting their time on side projects and get on with making TES 6. They can have that support (optional) VR if they want, that would be a good idea.
