Skyrim: Can you be Thor?

So Skyrim is basically Viking territory. I mean they're called "The Nords", and it's really cold and snowy. If that isn't overtly obvious code for "Nordic", I don't know what is.

Now, if the E3 demo for Skyrim is any indication, the lightning effects for Skyrim are WAY above Oblivion. Do you have any idea how many times I easily dodged lightning in that game? Lightning isn't supposed to be slow, and yet it wasn't any faster than the cold or fire spells.

With the new Dragon Shout's, you can call down lightning from the sky. If Oblivion is any measure, you should also be able to get hammer's, and imbue them with lightning.

Is any this starting to sound familiar?

I'm telling you, you can easily craft your character in Skyrim to be the Nordic God of Thunder . . . BEFORE Avengers comes out. The problem is I've always been a blade rather than blunt kinda guy.

My question is, if Bethesda doesn't insert a Thor like one handed hammer in the game, how long before the modding community does?

Yes it was. At least I think it was. Not a whole lot faster, but faster none the less.

OT: That sounds tempting, I might try to make a character like that on my second playthrough.

Completely unrelated advertisment:

You could simply be Raiden on vacation in Fantasy-Slartibartfast-Fjordland

On Topic again: Probably some Beta-testers already made the mod. That guy who beat the game in less than two hours? He looks like he had some Skandinavian forefathers, he likely has already done it (or found such hammers)

I'm gonna play as a lumber jack. I've tried to play as a lumber jack in as many games as I can but it usually doesn't work so well. Oddly enough the one game it did work in was Fable.

I still was able to dodge them all day. I could understand if, with keen perception, you'd be able to anticipate someone's attack and dodge at the last second, but if there was any distance it was incredibly easy to escape getting hit.

Eh, no matter how well done Bethesda implements Norse mythology in-game, I won't be able to stop my eyes from rolling if I come across references to Thor, Loki, Aesir, etc etc...

Just a personal thing, of course, but it's their own sprawling universe that they created, and they're setting us loose to create our own stories within it... if they toss Valhalla or Helhiem or whatever in there, I could only shake my head and mutter, "Bethesda, I am disappoint." We're playing Elder Scrolls, not Thor or Too Human or another game steeped in Norse references like Max Payne... (off-topic, but Too Human was pretty awesome)

As for the modding community, yes, I surmise we'll be seeing countless attempts at arming players with M... um, Mojolinear or whatever it's called. As well as custom companions resembling Thor, Loki and whoever else modders want to import into the game... also expect WoW and FF items and characters popping in sooner or later...

I'm ranting, I'll admit. :< Just hate seeing an original, rich universe being invaded by pop culture... but whatever, I won't be downloading said mods. ^_^'

Because Norse Mythology is considered pop culture?
"Up next: What happens when you take eight people destined to die in combat with each other in Ragnarok, and put them all in an apartment together? We'll find out, in the premiere of "Huginn and Muninn: After Dark", on Fox."

Well they won't directly reference it, but I know for a fact that they indirectly reference it. For example, in the E3 demo they mention the name of the afterlife of the people who controlled the Dragons, and said it was their version of Valhalla. It'll be built around it a bit I imagine, but will those names actually appear? Probably not.
