Oh hush, I love fighting dragons in town/cities even more so! Just makes the game feel...alive? Anyhow it's just wonderful every one fleeing, people fighting to the death! A stable hand got lifted up by a dragon once and eaten! I thought that was great! Sadly I doubt the poor high elf's family disagrees but I love it and I wish dragons spawned in towns for me.

I came out of a cave after barely surviving it and felt pretty awesome (this was back when I was level 10 or something). Heard a roar and looked to my right just in time to see the wall of flame come rushing down the hill. Made a mad dash for the nearest Imperial camp. Passed some thugs who had been hired to murder me--didn't realize this until I found the note on their corpses--and joined up with the Imperials. It was rather amusing watching everyone drop their grudges and focus on the dragon. Of course, as soon as it was dead, the one remaining thug decided to try and fulfill his contract. A pity. To survive a battle with a dragon, fighting alongside the hero of Skyrim, only to die in one hit from my blade. Attacking with one a few hit points left is never a good idea.

Of course, now my character is level 53. A dragon isn't so much a threat as it is, "Hm, well I DO need more gold..."

Maybe they just like the taste of khajiit. They are a bit of a rarity in skyrim after all.

I think i've faced 15 dragons in 90 hours. After awhile I ask myself what do I need all these dragon souls for, I hardly use half of them.

I've had horrible luck with dragons in Dawnstar, but I've not yet met a single one inside of an instanced town - for which I'm thankful. ;)
You should be, some towns give them no room to land, meaning you're screwed if you're a warrior. Hell, you're screwed anyway since all the buildings make raged combat problematic. I once had a dragon attack Windhelm while I was there. The only times I got a glimpse of the beast was when he flew over me and strafed me with his firebreath. He never landed, not even on buildings and I couldn't get a clear shot with my bow. I had to run away eventually simply because I couldn't touch him...

Same thing happened with me at Dawnstar (I think that's the place) but in regard to the dark Brotherhood secret entrance.

Nearly every time I fast traveled in some Dragon would swoop in (which is bad) and the whole town would join in the fray.

It wouldn't be a problem if there were just a little variation in the dragons but there isn't.

Dragons are so weak when they are up against hordes of NPCs. Watching Dragons attack camps of trained soldiers shows how weak they are against what would be considered the standard Man/Mir. It is truly a wonder how they held the world under their control for so long. Not to mention that the dragons are so weak they can't even kill a child, and all the other hundreds of Essential NPCs.

So far the only major thing that has happened to me was I traveled to the mage college to learn me some spells and the first dragon attacked me. I killed it easily enough and continued my learning spree. As I go to leave another dragon attacks. I kill it too, with a bit more difficulty. After doing some stuff that may or may not have been to do with a certain glitch near the college I went back there to sell " stuff " and the third dragon attacked me. Other than that time though it seems every other town I travel to has a dragon spawn in and try to kill me.

I've had THREE blood dragons attack riverwood. You know the town you visit at the start of the game? Do you know how many tries it took to kill all three dragons, without any of the town's residents dying? A lot. Of course, now my xbox is broke and all I want to do is play Skyrim, which I've been waiting for since I beat oblivion years ago.

At the early levels, the fights were real nail biters. After speccing fire mage...

dragons go pooftiepoof

luckily, im playing PC, so there will be oodles of dragon difficulty and tweaking mods to obtain.

For some reason the dragons love attacking me while i'm on my horse. Best part is if you get to a dragon lair and the dragon is on the ground. Had 2 instances were I sneaked up to the dragon and killed it with one hit. Loving the new back stab bonus with daggers

Holy crap, I had a dragon spawn at the mages guild with all the masters outside too. It lived for about 2 seconds after it landed and a mage simply said "well that takes care of that."

We don't go to winterhold any more...

Any time I dropped by the college I was attacked by a dragon. The second time was great though. All the magi (you know, the expert ones ) were for some reason outside. That dragon didn't last a minute.
I see what you did there.

Whilst doing the white phial quest, I fast travelled to forsaken cave(I think...) and BOOM two dragons, they fly about for a bit and then I notice one of them is flying away...
Splat giant spontaneously combusting fire breathing sky lizard lands a foot in front of me, pretty sweet.

I belive that the dragon spawn rates go up as you progress the main story. I left the main story after meeting the Graybeards (for the two free Words) and Dragons aren't too frequent and about 50% of the time they just don't give a fuck about me and leave me alone.
True. I left the story early and haven't had to fight a dragon in hours. That does sadly mean that I don't have the Dragon Souls to unlock all the Shouts I've found. Oh, and that the dragon I do encounter are all Elder Dragons. Damn those things.

40 hours in, 6 dragons dead. Don't see your problem.

Except from those i hunted for a quest i only had 2 random encounters with them and no city attack yet.

Ahjeah if somebody wonders why i've that much playtime: I don't use fast travel, or hardly ever. I'm the exploration kinda guy, at least for my first character :) So i guess i'll dump around 60-70 hours for my first lv 50 guy, heh.

They do spawn a little too frequently for my liking.

They're not really a challenge anymore at level 45, just an annoyance. the new Cliff Racers.
Cliff Racer v2.0 Now with 200% more annoyance.
