Tbh, All popular games are going to have sections of their fanbase composed of absolute idiots.

CoD just has a bigger fanbase.

Skyrim fans are not superior to MW3 fans! You know why? They're both equally INFERIOR! I'm kidding, of course, but the fact of the matter is is that people who religiously support a game need to get a reality check. Now then, I'm gonna get back to work so I can finally start playing Skyrim.

Dude, JUST A POLL. You can't be serious. It was just which one did you expect more. That's all. You can't get mad at them
It's not the poll, it's the comments. 'Faith in humanity has been restored' over a fucking choice between games. It's a matter of preference, but I don't expect many here to share my views. I get the impression many people on the escapist sit firmly in the Skyrim camp and have no tolerance for any CoD games.
Honestly... They're both fine games, and I'll probably get either/both of them at some point.

But, they are...
I've known both irl. And the Skyrim chaps are just better people.
Well, that depends on how you look at it. While I agree CoD fanboys can be some of the most blindingly irritating little shitfaced toerags around, I also find the superiority complex 'Higher gamers' have to be completely insufferable. It's almost as if some people think they are actually above playing shooters or even consoles, as I have noticed these sorts of people tend to be PC gamers.
People can like or dislike whatever they want, and anyone who thinks they are better than someone based upon their video game preference can grow the fuck up.
Anyhoo, those are my thoughts on the matter.

Along with everyone who is still somehow involved in the console war, this kind of shit comes up far too often in the gaming community.

You sir won the thread before it even started.

OT: I would say that I like both, but I haven't played Skyrim yet. =P

Eh, I don't think it's so much that Skyrim fans are superior to those of MW3, since the games are quite different. Now if it was between MW3 and, say, BF3, then I might have to agree... Not because MW3 is "bad" - I don't know. Mostly it's because it's the same game released every year. I don't expect new gameplay but more than anything I have an issue with a series being released every single year. If the changes they make amount to "new perks and levels (and better looking smoke!)" then I think it's really bogus to charge $60 for what amounts to a large expansion pack (then again, they charged ridiculous amounts for the expansion packs too). I bought MW2 and Black Ops, and that did it for me. Same game, new levels. Whoopee.

Also should I throw in that I'm a PC gamer? Seems like the right thread to get people riled up about it (I kid, I kid)

Being impartial (mostly) because I don't have either game or intend to get either in the near future (due to money being a tad tight) I will throw my hat in to say that I will look at Skyrim-fans being somewhat superior to COD-fans. Why? Because the Skyrim fans at least want something different, bigger, and/or more epic. COD Fans? Sorry guys, but it seems like you get a new game every year and it only seems to have minor tweaks or changes from a previous iteration. It's practically the Madden of the FPS genre and I don't respect EA simply because of Madden (among other things). So... yeah... I may sound like a bit of an elitist douche-bag, but I think that is a valid reason for preferring one group of fans over another without being in either myself.

So I was looking at this [http://fandom.memebase.com/2011/11/07/fanart-cosplay-damn-right-you-are/], and I thought it was truly pathetic, for what I think it implies.

To me, It implies that people who like Skyrim are superior to people who like MW3. If you honestly think that you are superior to someone because they don't like the same things you do , you are truly pathetic, and have no business forcing your opinions on other people as if they were objective facts. It doesn't matter whether you like Call of Duty or not, but thinking that not liking it makes you superior is complete idiocy.

Being someone who likes a lot of things, I like both MW3 and Skyrim. They're both great games (don't even start, MW3 is great, and Skyrim goes without saying), especially for their genres, and they're both great fun. But the notion that preference is an indicator of superiority is ridiculous. That's like arguing that people who like ball point pens are superior to people who like mechanical pencils. It makes no sense.

In fact, this doesn't just happen with Skyrim, this happens with a lot of other games as well.

Am I just reading to much into this, and extracting messages that aren't there? This is the only place this happens right?

never mind [http://memebase.com/2011/11/16/internet-memes-and-push-to-skyrim/].
I think the main implication isn't that the fans themselves are superior, but that Skyrim itself is superior to MW3... Which I can't help but get behind in my own completely bias opinion.

Now I can see someone looking at the release dates of games around November this year and seeing that along with Skyrim (the most hyped up game this year), MW3 is coming out around the same time. I can see how someone might roll their eyes at the fact that MW3 is practically turning into the Madden of the FPS genre, releasing very similar sequels every few with minor multiplayer tweaks, then compare it to Skyrim which took 5 years to make with a complete overhaul of quality and massive leaps forward in design. I can see how someone might see all the 14 year old fanboys foaming at the mouth for a game that is nearly identical to the other Modern Warfare games they already have in their game library. I can see how someone might get angry over the fact that such a pitiful sequel will probably undeservedly outsell Skyrim by thousands.

But seriously, what the hell is the point? It's an FPS verses an RPG. They're worlds apart in terms of gameplay, story, and overall setting.

I don't like either! I'm reverse superior to everyone! (Which is just regular superior because today is opposite day!)

Wait wait wait...is this serious? Is this actually happening? Wow. No I'm not mad at the OP for getting mad at these fans I'm mad at the fans. I love Skyrim. And I also love Modern Warfare. Although I've only played the second one but I'm getting off topic. Both games are fantastic. And besides, greatness is determined by personal preference. I mean that in the sense that you its a good game. To others, maybe not. But that's okay. To each their own.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to listen to I Suck at Call of Duty while I burn things in Skyrim. Magic is awesome in this game.
