Ha, I was so distracted by the rain of hellfire the dragon was unleashing on the town at the start that I didn't even notice that I was suddenly with the stormcloak guy instead. So I guess I chose stormcloak out of ADD. Besides, the imperials seem to be a bunch of dicks, at least from what I've seen so far. And that ***** at the start tried to behead me, so I'll see her in hell.

As those barbaric Nords support the divinity of that heathen Tiber Septim, I support the Empire.

Plus the Aldmeri Dominion supports the Empire, so I will follow my governments decision as any good Altmer would. But I'll be damned before I see a man rule me, the empire should serve mer.

This is what my High Elf mage thinks.
Shoot, this is me. My brother was logged in and I didn't realize it.

Who cares? The Dark Brotherhood is back.

In all seriousness, I think I'm gonna side with the Stormcloaks first time around just because the Imperials seem like dicks in my sneaky backstabbing chaotic Bosmer's mind. I'll probably go with the Imperials next time through. (Then again, I had a hard time choosing between Dementia and Mania in the Shivering Isles, so I'm really bad with these sorts of decisions.)

And now all sing with me!

We drink to our youth, to days come and gone,
for the age of aggression is just about done!
We'll drive out the stormcloaks and restore what we own,
with our blood and our steel we'll take back our home!

Down with Ulfric, the killer of kings!
On the day of your death we will drink and we'll sing!

We're the children of skyrim and we fight for our lifes.
And when Sovenguard beacons, every one of us dies!
But this land is ours and we'll see it wiped it clean,
of the scourge that has sullied our hopes and our dreams...

Stormcloaks, like everyone else apparently.

The way I see it is I either join the pretty racist Nordic Stormcloaks, or I join the Imperials, who hate everyone.

I joined the Stormcloaks. It was pretty simple to choose them because quite frankly, they didn't try to behead me.

Kind of ironic that, as I read this, I'm writing an essay on the decline and fall of the Roman Empire. I'm getting Skyrim tonight, and I'll be curious to see how the fall of the Septim Empire reflects that. As much as I'd like to join the Stormborn, the fall of the Empire in Skyrim has a definite dark ages-y feel to it, and that's never good. The collapse of the Roman empire was a complete and unmitigated disaster for all of its inhabitants, and I'd rather cling to what's left than try to break free. That said, once I actually play the game, and get a feel for the political landscape, I might change my mind - you never know. :p

I picked an Imperial just to spite the Nords, and the first thing I did was do the long trek to join the Imperial army. Any army that requires me to shout 'For the Emperor!' gets my vote.

Also vikings (nords, whatever) are not as cool as people say they are. I love putting them in their place.

In the short term, I joined the Stormcloaks, simply because the Empire wanted me dead and the Stormcloaks didn't. As time has gone on, I've decided that actually, the Stormcloaks are the most intolerant bunch of self-absorbed 'traditionalists' I've ever seen, and the Empire are actually pretty reasonable. I want to secure an independent Skyrim, then replace Ulfric with somebody more...personable.

INDEPENDENT SKYRIM, BABY. I'm calling Mr. House.

Oh, wait. Wrong game.

Sorry guys, it seemed funny and it's past midnight over here. Bear with me. :)

As for a more serious answer, my Argonian dude is probably going to play both sides as often as possible. Black-Scale's always been in it for the money and notoriety, to Hell with dragons and the world ending and Talos possibly being ripe for an encore. He wants cash monies, a big house and lots of food, the least of which should be obtained legally.

My future Orc would probably be pro-Stormcloaks, while I'll make an Imperial that'll obviously be in support of the Empire.

You could choose? I thought you had to follow the imperial >.<

time to make another run-through.
Well next time I run through I'll be needing to kill all Imperials in my sight.
I didnt relase there was a choice either, I followed the Stormcloaks until I got out, I sort of figured that was how it was. Thats..actually very strange.

I don't have Skyrim yet but I'd probably go Stormcloaks so I can be like this to the Imperial:

So far, I sympathize heavily with the Stormcloak's plight.

Unfortunately, Skyrim's intro was INCREDIBLY confusing. I had no idea what was going on and so I fled the city with the imperial, I think I lost my chance of joining the stormcloaks, anyone know if I can or not?
You could probably just go to Riverwood and/or Windhelm. I followed Ralof, but when I passed an Imperial soldier, he tried to recruit me, and it gave me a side mission to join the imperium. Just talk to a stormcloak, and you're in, bro.

I had no idea I even had a choice at the start on who to follow, I just started following the nice imperial guy who didn't want to chop off my head (seemed logical at the time). Still haven't chosen a side yet, because as my Orc doesn't really feel like its his fight, he might change his mind if either side pisses him off :D
