Now when I say skyrim is what every game should be like I do not mean every game should be a rpg or fantasy I mean every game should have content over graphics and all those small details something you can just immerse yourself
Really?
So you are telling me that the GTX 590 card i just bought for several hundreds of dollars (or well, i didn't, but somebody else did) shouldn't be utilized because NO games should focus on graphics?
This, ladies and gentlemen, is a class example of someone who doesn't understand diversity and how it's beneficial.
Listen up: Not everybody NEEDS content over graphics, and every game certainly does NOT need to follow that same development cycle.
- Some people are happy when they have a game that they can test their five-thousand dollar machine with (Crysis series).
- Some people are happy when they have a game of their favorite series, almost no matter what the content is (Mario series and others).
- Some people are happy to have a huge fast paced adrenaline kick that leaves them breathless, even if the ride roller coaster ride itself is relatively short (Modern Warfare single player).
- Some people are happy when they have a cool multiplayer experience, no matter how much or little content there is (Modern Warfare, Battlefield, Counter-Strike).
- Some people are happy to have a game that is grindtastic (MMO's, and I'd even throw Minecraft in here).
- Some people are happy to have a simulator of some kind (flight sims, build sims, The Sims).
- Some people are happy to have a game to pass time with (solitaire or any other game that fits in this category).
- Some people are happy to have a game they can play for short periods without feeling the need that they have to remember all sorts of stuff (which quest was i doing last time i saved? What did i plan to do last time i played? Stuff like that. I'm talking the preference for simple just-for-fun games like Audiosurf etc. that are just meant to provide short bursts of fun without you having to recall 117 different things you were doing or needed to do last time you played).
- Some people are happy to have a game they can wrap up in a decent timespan even if they don't have much playing time (i could type some examples here of shorter games, but simply saying "Not Skyrim" is so much more effective in getting my point across).
Are you getting the picture?
It may be that YOU personally want every single game released to have as much content as possible like Skyrim because you like huge epic games, but not every gamer needs that, and not even every gamer WANTS that. Therefore every game doesn't need to be like that either.
In fact, like my last example in the list above says, most gamers in the general consumer base doesn't have the patience to want to finish an epic adventure that takes 40+ hours to get through (or however much time). They might want games that have content, but not as much content as Skyrim. They want something they can wrap up in a decent timespan, even if they only play 1-2 hours per day. For those people, Skyrim is not the game they need.
In addition, you might think that a world where every game follows the same philosophy (even if they are radically different games) is gamer heaven. But what you fail to realize is that this approach stifles innovation. If every game was developed like that, then we wouldn't have games like Audiosurf, Indie Games, Guitar Hero and loads of other games today, and free games would also be a thing of the past.
I'm sorry, but i don't want to subscribe to your ideas.
