Welcome to the realms of Opinion.

I know quite a few people here who think the game was underhyped, so clearly, you're going to have to agree to disagree.

I haven't played yet (University hurts), but I can't see myself disappointed by it.

My relatively low opinion of the game compared to the excitement I felt before release is likely due to the fact that my computer sucks and I have a terrible FPS problem.

After much thinking: Followers have a max carry limit.

Only thing that annoys me as that means I have to toggle god mode on and off again just to sprint, then turn it off when I want a fair fight.

Also that I always have to rebind by keys as they revert to default when ever I start up the game again.

I think it's a great game. It's harder than Oblivion and Morrowind in my opinion. (THen again, Oblivion is easy cake) but a challenge is nice.

Furthermore, it's just fantastic :)

not as much as the one in Skyrim. that one is fairly hands-on.
and by hands-on, i mean zombie hands on your neck.

Apart from an annoying fluctuating difficulty, dragon bones that weight 15 each, dragon scales that weigh 15 each (hehe.. That's what you get for playing the game -.- a heavy burder, literally).... I got nothing to add to that.

It's all a petty whining. And the people who complain the game sucks, probably got hyped and did not realise Bethesda was making it |3 (Since that saying goes: "It's Bethesda".). And if anyone complains about the textures.. It looks good already, sure the tree's don't sway in the wind, but at least it's not gunmetal grey or desert pants brown. Heck there are no texture popups a la Rage. And the mountains are no backdrops untill you come close enough to get it rendered (like Oblivion.)

Is it a good game? Yes, it is.
Was it hyped? Fairly yes.
Does it matter? COURSE NOT! 't Be an entertaining game! (more then I can say from brink....)

I felt exactly the same for the first few hours, I was actually quite depressed...then I began fighting dragons, and actually getting into the story missions, and my mood on the game improved by leaps and bounds.

I just wish you didn't have to focus so hard on the combat [persk to actually see the better side of combat. But then I'm a mage right now, so fuck swords, I have fire.

I'm equally lukewarm on the game (am about 10-15 hours into it atm), but I'm going to have to say it's not overhyped. To me, a product that's overhyped has to fail to deliver on what it promises. Skyrim in many ways exceeds what people were expecting, so its hard for me to say that it failed to meet it's hype.

That doesn't mean it's a perfect game, and that everyone will love it. You should always adjust your expectations of a game or franchise based on your personal preference. If you're not a fan of Bethesda style RPGs or a high fantasy setting, Skyrim isn't likely to change your mind.

Well, the weight limit is a balancing factor, but you could also bypass it by ordering your companion to pick up items you dropped, which circumvents the limit...

Two things:

1) The characters don't come alive for me in the way that characters came alive in Dragon Age 1 and 2 or Mass Effect, etc. Like Dragon Age 2 or hate it, *everyone* who played remembers Anders was a bisexual mage with a persecution complex. EVERYONE who played Mass Effect 1 or 2 can remember some of their favorite characters.

After playing Skyrim for awhile I can honestly say that like most Elder Scrolls games, none of this has changed. You interact with NPCs but none of them are memorable. They're just cardboard cutouts.

2) The interface, for the PC, is horrible. Horrible. Horrible. We shouldn't need somebody to mod the damned game just to enjoy playing it. (I own a PS3 and a PC. I play *different* games on them and no, a PS3 game shouldn't feel exactly the same as a complex CRPG. Just my opinion.)

I'm only a fe hours in and I'm liking it a lot. Fixes most of the stuff I hated about Oblivion (boring world, bland visuals, retarded leveling system, clunky interface, etc.) and brings a bunch of new stuff that I like (Shouts, crafting, etc.). I do have a few minor complaints (combat system still outdated, though better than before; lack of spellcrafting, though it's not a big deal), but overall I'm having fun with it.

Now, all I need is wait for thursday, when my final exam is taking place. After that, me and my Khajiit are off to the frozen north for a few days...

Better than everyone says.

There are some minor problems, sure. But get to the part in the main quest where you go to Blackreach and then get back to me about the game not being as great as everyone made it out to be.
