Just bear with me for a bit.
Ok, so we all know when Skyrim was released the gaming community collectively came in its pants (some more than others) but couldn?t that have just been a reaction to the game finally coming out? Now that a few weeks have passed and you have most likely completed at least the main story quest, is there that much left to explore? Was it really worth the 60 USD (or however much you paid for it)? now that you have the benefit of a few weeks between release and now, would you still recommend this game?

Yeah, more so than most games I purchased in the past two years. The game has a superb time/money ratio, and for me it's also a great fun/money ratio, and when it boils down that's what I want from my games - to entertain me and to do so for as long as possible.

Skyrim is definitley still amazing. Although to be fair, Bethesda-style open world games are my favorite. I was probably going to play it a lot even if it wasn't this good.

Yeah, 100%. I get what you're saying, because a lot of games made me feel that way. Hyped for the release, the first few weeks were great, haven't played them since. Skyrim's here to stay.

Yes. Me and and my Khajit Assassin, Theif, Compainion, Mage(Not really, just want to get the mask and Staff of Magnus) are having a hell of a time walking through ancient ruins, shouting at innocent Mudcrabs and firing arrows at unspuspecting wanderers. My favorite thing anout it is that there seems to be more rare loot than ever to kill/steal/lie/quest for.

I can honestly say that my hype for Skyrim has died down and I still love every second of the game.
So yes, it's still worth getting.

So first off, I've worked on five characters, not finished a single quest line, and am still having a ridiculous amount of fun. People who aren't willing to interact creatively with the game will absolutely get bored with it. If all you do is follow the arrows and complete the tasks, then yes, Skyrim wouldn't be that good of a game. But for people like me who love having the freedom not just to play a game, but to play in general, Skyrim is a feast of delights. I think it was absolutely worth the $60. Hell, that sounds like a bargain to me considering the amount of fun I've had and will continue to have with the game.

Get witcher 2 before skyrim. Its an amazing game and recently got a nice update from the devs. Free DLC and no drm. Support Cd projekt!

Ive played both. Skyrim is a great game, but there are other great games out there that dont have nearly the amount of bugs that skyrim exhibits.

There has been no console game that was more "worth the $60" than Skyrim. I get frustrated enough with the "it's not worth $60" people/cheapskates, but Skyrim is easily worth twice that or more. Some arbitrary amount of money which is way more than $60.

I "finished" after about 125 hours, but I still feel compelled to keep playing and exploring the rest of the map and finding more shouts and things, and this is something I've literally NEVER done with a game. I'm not one for post-game playing. Usually once I'm done, I'm done.

Mages College: i started a mage, and i'm liking it.
DB: gur. eyt.

see, you can do a batrilliumnumnum playthroughs and still have ALL the FUN!

Know what? I think you have an even better avatar than mine.

Back to the topic, I haven't bought it yet (didn't want it to screw with my work) but am super psyched for it. Plus now it's on sale in the UK at half price in most shops so I'm pretty sure at that price it's worth it. Oblivion consumed so much of my life and even after buying it at release I still come back to play it now and again which is more than I do for most games and from what I hear Skyrim is better.

I was never big on the hype that skyrim got but liked Oblivion enough to try it. Bought it and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. That being said, I am burning/burned out on it. For me I have reached the point where my character is almost too strong and the quests are starting to get repetitive. The part of the game that I enjoy the most is finding new loot that is better than what my character currently has, but I haven't found anything in about 15 hours of game play. The main story arcs(thieves guild, civil war, the "chosen one" etc) are still great and really fun to play, but I am finding myself just avoiding random dungeons now. Even dragon fights are getting old.
Once I get a few more achievements under my current character I might start over with a completely new class and see how it goes, which I think is the appeal for everyone who rates Skyrim as the best game all time. Personally though I'm not sure that even a new character can make me put in that many more hours. I just might need some time away from it.

In short, its fun and worth buying but I can't do the randomly generated "Go here and grab me this and when you return I will give you X." side quests forever. I would recommend trying to get it used if your playing style is similar to mine. If not, get it new and you won't be let down.

Seeing as though I have been having some magnificent fun with the game recently, and was pleasantly surprised to see it an improvement over Oblivion in almost every way, I'd say yes. Provided you can avoid that horrible 1.2 patch, of course. But even if you do have it, there are ways to revert back, provided you're on the PC of course.

But long story short, hell yeah it is worth it. I'm not even %5 through it yet, just been really taking my time with it, enjoying everything. It'll be awesome when the mods start rolling through, too.

It is still good and theres a few mods that make it even better. It is worth $60 if you consider the amount of hours of entertainment it can provide but than again to many its not worth it for the shear amount of repetitive grinding and combat.

I would have been much happier if there was greater variety of spells and enchantments, smithing, armor choices (why remove the pants options???), and character skill areas. Much of the open choices was dumbed down such as you choose magicka, health, or stamina then a perk. theres not much there for customizing your characters abilities.

Once you hit level 50 (which happened very fast; too fast) and you have ironed out your build and having access to the best weapons, the game does become to easy. Also, you are no longer hunting for better stuff or spells, meaning it looses some of the appeal of exploration (for me). But it has plenty of mods coming out and there is still enough to do.

In short, it doesn't get better and it doesn't get much worse either. It just is as it was in the beginning. It depends on the person how long they will last doing the same things over and over again.

I've completed a vast majority of the game on one save, and the main quest/imperial quests on another, and yes, I think it was worth it. Won't play it again for a long time, but I had tons of fun with it while it lasted.

I paid the equivalent of 80$ for it though, and that was cheap. In Sweden it would have been 120$.
