My awesome Breton badass can get some tail? Sounds great to me. I trust Bethesda to do this more intelligently and with more point than Molyneaux. After all, RPG does have the word roleplay in it. *shrugs*

Actually - I rather like this idea. I got rather attached to a couple of npc characters in Oblivion and wanted to take the relationship past 100% like and the same tired dialogue choices. Plus, this'll add a bit of extra depth to the npc characters, increasing the immersion factor. I'm all for it.

Correction to your thread title:
Skyrim to have Fable 3-like feature.

I don't see me getting involved with Skyrim romances (Bethesda isn't really one for making characters I get attached to) so this is a nonfactor for me.

I love the fact that everyone is whining about this.

'Itz going to be liked Fablez Ih8te fable11!1"

You do realize that getting marry in a RPG had been around for a very long time? DnD did it.

Also, who the hell will go out of their way to get marry? If yoi don't want to use the feature...DON'T.

Ha. I thought you just meant an unwarranted ammount of hype and a dissapointing final product. Still, with Bethdesa's (I know I'm spelling that wrong, but what the hell,) trademark NPC-Eyes-Always-Staring-Eerily-at-you-with-unerring-accurac, this may be less of an interesting addition and more of incredibly creepy time (Picturing a wedding scene, your spouse's eyes locked on to yours, unblinkingly, as they say 'I do,' the preacher then turning an equally unerving gaze on you, proclaiming 'I now pronounce you...' *shudder*).

I don't know with the dynamic world and enemies and such it could work out. I'm quiet sure there is a chance a dragon lands in a villages and kills everyone. Wouldn't that provide good plot material, especially if you have you're spouse and children in said village.

As long as there are epic relationship quests, princes and princesses to marry after saving them from dragons,inter-species marriage options and the ability to put a hit out on an unfaithful spouse with the Morag Tong or the Dark Brotherhood, it's fine and dandy with me.

If one divorces one's Skyrim significant other, do they get half of one's loot and armor or does one just cleave them in half?

I had slaves in Morrowwind, and they "moved in" to my wizard tower dungeon. I just hope i can properly decorate my skyrim house with human skulls, unlike the preset oblivion\fallout motifs.

Spouses seem to me to appeal more the hardcore RPGers than the casual ones.

.....great!
As long as it is not a gimmick in Skyrim but a tool to help with immersion then I support this move. It will hopefully stop the player feeling so alone in such a large game which is a problem nowadays seeing that many people play games online.

Typically I don't follow the npc romance option in rpgs, even in ones that are 'well done' such as in Bioware games. The only way I could see this being not so good is if all the npcs start hitting on you after you complete just 1 or 2 quests. That being said, I really don't have a problem with this at all. Hey, if it's done well I might just try it out and if it is abysmally horrible, I can easily ignore it (or download a mod to remove it from the game).

whoa, whoa, whoa, chill the fuck out. The reason Fable as a series sucks is because it tries to religh on the relationship aspect to pad out what is otherwise a short bland game. On the other hand the Elder Scroll games are what Fable wants despratley to be. They truely are games that let you be who ever the hell you want to be. Adding a relationship aspect to the mix just makes sense. But like every other option in the game, you don't have to do it. There are tons of ways to get to the end of the game. If you don't want to have a wife or husband when you get there then you don't have to.

I just can't wait till Skyrim takes a "Fable feature" and actually makes it good. Because you know they damn well will.

It's hardly going to make the game worse. Stop complaining, it's going to be great.

Well I see no reason to complain about something that is completely optional like this, long as it doesn't hurt the core game.

Too much patronising bullshit on the forums these days.
Absolutely agreed! Everyone's a comedian all of a sudden...

A completely optional feature won't destroy the god damn game. I like the idea, it will make my Dragonborn feel less out of place and more like a part of his/her country!

How is this a problem? I mean I don't think that the game will force you to do it, just play the game and ignore it.

I don't see any reason to be upset about. If you want you can completely ignore the marriage/friendship thing.
