I actually liked the relationship part of the first 2 Fable games, and considering that Bethesda is a much better developer than Lion Head, I think this is pretty good news.

This actually sounds usefull, in the context that making friends means people will take up arms in your name.

Well there definitely are people blowing this way out of proportion. I'm sure it'll be something small you'll never even bother to mind once you have the game in your hands. Relax...

When I saw this title my heart sank a little bit, because I hate Fable, with a passion. But by the looks of things, these features can be easily ignored, and for some people can only add to the playing experience, so I'm not too bothered really.

So long as they don't change a lot more to "make it more Fable like" I still think it will be a fantastic game.

Sounds like an added feature that's pretty easily ignored. It could be interesting if it's not restricted to random NPCs and more focused towards actual characters, though.
I echo poster numero dos on this one. ..Dos? Dous? Dose? Fucking languages not being the same as English, Klingon or Elvish!

Those features are arguably the only thing that keeps Fable from being as bland as many believe it is (and, for the most part, for good reason). It's not Dragon Age, people, where every character in their mother is out to fuck you disabled, and unless you've forgotten the difference in maturity between Fable's world and the Elder Scrolls' world is a VAST one. I'm positive that Bethesda, especially the E.S. team, will show us how to implement these features with grace and tact. Fable is cartoony, that's why these features come off as "ugh" to so many. Why the hell would a woman want to bear my children if I make fart noises with my armpits or do that corny as hell "finger-gun and wink" move at her eight times in a row?

Don't worry, folks. Bethesda's people know the difference between a modest proposal and a fart joke.

I think people that are against it are worried that they'll have people come up to their character and force them into a relationship kind of like how sometimes in Oblivion/Fallout3 a character will run up to you and kind of force a new mission on you that you don't want to do.

And I think some people are worried that they'll put gay characters in the game and they'll have a Bioware situation on their hand where they're constantly getting verbally assaulted by horribly written stereotypes and dragged into a gay relationship kicking and screaming, ruining their perfectly heterosexual little fantasy world.

But the more I think about that the more I doubt Bethesda will put in gay characters. I mean, they had just 2 guys in F3 who MAY HAVE BEEN gay and I don't think there have been any real gay characters in Oblivion (Except Curio in Morrowind). And like I said earlier, I'm afraid that if they do do it they'll only make 2 pretty-boy human characters out of the entire game world and make one a rich lisping queens obsessed with clothes and the other a whiny momma's boy, neither acting anything like a man should.

Sorry, ranting here. As a gay dude who plays games, I'm really frustrated by the state of gay characters in games and even more frustrated at developers like Bioware who get a big, fat F in my book when it comes to gay content.

But Obsidian did a good job with the gay characters in New Vegas. Let's hope some of the writers from Bethesda were taking notes.

I like the idea of marriage in this game. Dragon slaying and wenching in a Scandinavian setting? Bullwei son of Gunnar(my usual Nordic character), will be pleased. Either that, or a very cold Makoma(my usual Redguard) is gonna get his groove on. (talk about racial stereotypes :p)

Such a wonderfull roleplaying feature! I don't worry too much since it's Bethesda who's doing the developing.

I won't mind this feature, I plan on sandboxing the crap out of Skyrim and getting as much enjoyment as possible, so I might get a job in a sawmill, marry a wife, settle down and raise a family, and see how long I can faff about before the game screws itself up and has to force me to continue on with the main quest.

As long as you don't have the rediculous fable way of measuring relationships, which meant that about halfway through the game virtually everyone was in love with you.

I'm ok with this. I just hope the spouse won't divorce you if you are gone too long on a very time consuming adventure. Of course, I also would like my wife/husband to have their own unique attitude and point of views. Also, if you are able to ingage in intercourse, maybe so of your character's traits will pass on to offspring. (Pointy nose=Pointy nose kid) I'm probably asking for too much, but hey, when in Tamriel.

Might be good for roleplaying a certain character, meh, it's something different isn't it.

Well, the adulterated mods are going to be even more plentiful now haha
True that

Note that it's that single article that is comparing it to Fable.

Besides from the basics it might not be like Fable's relationship system in any way.

Sounds fantastic! I love the Fable franchise. These new additions to the game sound great.
This.

I always wished Bethesda and Lionhead would make a great game having the features of each other...

Then I woke up w/ a wet spot in my shorts.......

Anyway

What is this new need to hate on Skyrim...what if I want to high five a drinking buddy from the local tavern to kill bandits at the ruins nearby sounds like fun

Listen. Skyrim is not fable. Skyrim will not have the same problems as fable just because it has similar features. You can use swords in fable too, that doesn't mean it will have the same problems. this is an optional feature that will help make the world more real. I am all for it.

I don't really see a problem with new features being added.

In fact, I've liked nearly everything I've heard about Skyrim so far. I'm very excited for it.

However, the major, MAJOR exception is the further reduction of armour slots; merging armour and greaves? What were they thinking? What if I want to have a topless Nord barbarian run around like Conan, but still have him wear trousers?
THEY DID WHAT?!?!?!? That's just a bad idea. on their part...ok..so the game does not get a 10/10 out of the box for me (ignoring glitches that are bound to be there)

Well, those weren't exactly the bad features of Fable 3. They were just horribly, horribly poorly implemented.

Ya but fable screwed up swords, guns and magic anyway.
Skyrim will probably do it in a better way than fable 3.

FFS....wait i see light at the end of the tunnel:

some modders will probably turn that feaure into an NPC-whorehouse or Mail-order-brides.....yay?

Bethesda is really losing ground with me. I'm all for 'better borrowed then thought up badly' but their 'borrowing' the wrong things.
I also think it's a shitty idea they included dragons for that matter. The dragons are gonna be the new 'oblivion gates'. think about it and you know what i mean.
I just hope they fix the NPC's conversations and hire plenty of voiceactors this time around, for the rest it will be good (enough) and else i will mod it myself if i have to,
