Anything which attempts to improve upon the dire soullessness of Oblivion is a step in the right direction in my book.

My reaction.

Why would they do that? Fable 3 was the worst in the series yet (4 will probably top it), hopefully they may learn from lionhead's mistakes.
Let me guess. You read that they were going to add fable it without actually realising that they'll just be doing to exact same bloody thing they did in fallout NV, just with marriage added on IF YOU WANT IT.

Jeez, add the word fable to something and people flip.

IM loveing how the games sounding so far. The married thing is ok as long as they do it right (dont like sumone ? steal their "Spouse" HEHEHE...) and the ONLY other thing that I am worried about is the class system as long as the do it right (it looks like they are) then alls good.

I'm sure it will be much better than Fable's character relationships and quests... >>'

Even if it isn't... It wont affect the game too much.

That sounds awesome. One of the things that bugged me about Oblivion and Fallout 3 was the lack of friends and lovers. I like to be able to have personal relationships with people in my RPGs...i.e. I want to have more than anti-social loner who hack and slashes all day long.

The Fable series wipes the floor with Elder Scrolls, in my opinion. Yeah, it's smaller, more linear and far easier; but it has charm, humour and NPC interactivity that just sets it apart. Elder scrolls is good in theory, but until now each game has seemed just as broken as the last. Roll on Skyrim!

Sounds ok to me if done right. In fact there is something romantic about a thieving couple sneaking into a mansion without being noticed(Assuming the AI can handle not being pants on head retarded). Although this better be handled better than Fable 3 if I'm an assassin that kills people for laughs I better not have anyone confessing their love for me as I tear out a guards throat.
But what else is more lovely than watching your beloved disembowel their enemies for entertainment?

The problem with marriage in the fable series is that you built a relationship through farting and dancing. Also every npc looked and acted the same, so there was no point to it. From experience with Bethesda's games this won't be an issue, as your interactions will be talking and actual actions that might make sense for how you would build a relationship. Plus the npc's in the game are not all copy pastes, but actual characters.

I think that it was the only thing missing in Oblivion. You could buy your own house, but you couldn't marry anyone, even if you bribbed them.

I don't understand why anyone would slap the phrase "like Fable" on Skyrim just because it's the same type of idea. If they didn't do things like this then the franchise wouldn't ever change now would it?

I think whoever is against this is just plain bitching. Dont like it? Dont use it then, someone else might like it. Especially OP. It is an obviously easily forgettable feature. And will likely not tie in to the main story, or most of the side quests.

Ironic that you mentioned that they were broken, cause i remember when Fable 2 was released it was totally broken. I think i've lost like 2, 3 saves on it (and one of them with EVERY SINGLE ITEM IN THE GAME). Also Fable is now just plain bad. I was a fan, i was genuinely excited for Fable 3, but it was baaaaaaaad.
(though it was hilarious when my motherless child after like 3/4 of the game shows up in an orphanage. It was epic. I just picked ANY other kid than him. (he was even like "Hi papa!"))

Just because one game made NPC relationships a farce doesn't mean every game will. As Bethesda has yet to go wrong in my book with the Elder Scrolls series (sure, there were a few hiccups), I trust them to do these mechanics right or at least right enough that it isn't, "Durr Hurr, I have fifty wives and none of them says anything and my sex scenes are black screens with the voice overs of what sounds like two immature virgins trying to mimic what they think sex sounds like."

So its going to be Oblivion with Vikings who yell at dragons AND befriend random npc's and get married to loose women with facial structure problems?

Im game. I see nothing wrong with them adding stuff. Its the taking away that would worry me.

Bah. That feature's more trouble than it's worth. Should have focused their resources elsewhere.

Having been stuck in the uncanny valley for so long, I think they're doing as much as humanly possible to turn the NPCs into actual people. If they're actually fairly unique, then hell, I'll give it a shot. If they're little more than a different face and set of clothes from other NPCs, well, I won't know until I try.

How does the ability to have an NPC remember your deeds a bad thing? This is a baseless comparison, and most likely won't even affect the game negatively. It could even possibly improve the entire experience by allowing you to gain some compassion for them.

Why are people getting upset over deeper NPC interactions in an RPG?
Does no one actually know what an RPG is?

I think i might just cry, what do you guys think
CALLED IT

After i saw the e3 demo and how you use magic, i could only think of fable 3.

Infact apart from that i believe that it has been said the game will be immersive and more action based and less rpg stats based.

Infact to all those people who hated oblivion, guess what? this game is gonna make oblivion look like a proper rpg.. For the casuals ftw.
