So? The ideas behind Fable were excellent, just at times poorly implemented.

I'm sure that they'll be good in Skyrim. Besides which, if an RPG is all about telling a story, then it's kind of cute that you can tell the story of your character's life. Even so, if it's poorly implemented, then I don't think that they should bother.

This is either going to be reasonably good, or really bad.

Not worried. It probably won't be central to the plot, or even a side-quest. Might get an achievement/trophy for it, though.

Yeah, no problems with it.

However, the major, MAJOR exception is the further reduction of armour slots; merging armour and greaves? What were they thinking? What if I want to have a topless Nord barbarian run around like Conan, but still have him wear trousers?
Woah, woah, woah when was this announced?

First they get rid of pauldrons from Morrowind and now they're getting rid of greaves? Next thing you know in TES: VI all armour sets will just be one set piece, no greaves, gauntlets, boots or anything, just body and helmet.

I don't see the issue.
It's a roleplaying game and this feature enables roleplaying.
This is good news though it may strike a deep fear in me to have the name Fable put near my Elder Scrolls I believe even if I never use the feature it's good to know that they have the ground work there if I do feel my character would benefit from that progression.

Worst case scenario it's tacked on and simple BUT... It will also be modded.
The modding community is arguably one of Elder Scrolls greatest strengths and any simple code Bethesda adds makes it easier for mod makers to elaborate on the game.
Bethesda has been great about making a game that hits all the core notes and makes a world people want to change to better suit them, hopefully Skyrim is the same.

Elder Scrolls is supposed to be an "immersive" game right? Well then this feature makes absolute sense.

Why are people jumping to the conclusion that it will be a horrible, game-breaking feature just because it previously existed in a mediocre (Fable 3 wasn't bad, it WAS mediocre) game?

This is awesome! Now i can truly feel more important to the world of Skyrim :).

Also to the people that are complaining to a 100% optional feature, get a grip.

Skyrim to aquire Fable 3 like features-in that it will be a huge disapointment to me! Ho ho! I'm just kidding, Skyrim has me drooling with anticipation.

As for this feature, it doesn't exactly sound like a game breaker, could be interesting to see how far you can go with NPCs-after all, baring the occasional pat on the shoulder I got zilch from the fair citizens of Cyrodiil. A chance to score with a lusty Argonian maid? Count me in!

I don't think it's that big a deal. They can't do any worse a job at this than Fable 3 did. Besides, the idea of having companions come with you into caves and dungeons could be pretty neat. It'd help to have a mule to carry all the loot.

Getting concerned over this (something that appears to be a minor feature, at best) seems just a tad silly to me. Don't think about it in the sense of the Fable games, where this feature has moved closer and closer to taking centre-stage since the first game. Think of it in the sense of the original Fable- yes, you can get married to some inconsequential NPC for your amusement, and it might come with some sort of benefit (other than your own amusement). But overall, it's not a big feature in the game. It's just something to do after a hard day of slaying Dragons.

As long as my social options extend beyond acting like a chicken and farting in someone's face, I'm happy.

Seriously... "socializing and having a family" is all it takes to be "Fable-like"? What's so bad about that? Heck, ever play Fallout 3 and have a good rep in Megaton? I liked to pretend the black woman who always gave me things the town scrapped up for me was my girlfriend/wife... and I gotta say, it was pretty dang heartwarming. :)

Yeah that's totally what elder scrolls was missing. A nagging wife, house chores and the medieval equivalent of an office job.
The Elder Scrolls V: SkySims
Yep. In all honesty these features are optional, at least I hope they are. No forced storyline marriages. I don't want a blacksmith mission like GTA IV had that bowling one.

Well...this might be good. They might do it well this time, and after all, it IS an RPG. If you don't want to get married what do you think you shouldn't do?
