....Unless they add in the 'you can become king of the land' from Fable 3 into Skyrim I'm indifferent.

Admit it, being king would be badass. OH OH! Also...make sure you add werewolves again! I miss werewolves.

I can see it now;

Marry the pretty Nord bar wench, get her pregnant, spend your days going over the budget with kids screaming for gold and hanging out with those good for nothing Argonian kids who sell Skooma. All the while the wife bemoaning how her husband used to be a someone, how he used to kill dragons before breakfast and now he just sits in the rocker on the front porch staring at nothing while she has noticed how attractive the neighbor looks without his shirt on.

Living the dream.

I don't really see a problem with new features being added.

In fact, I've liked nearly everything I've heard about Skyrim so far. I'm very excited for it.

However, the major, MAJOR exception is the further reduction of armour slots; merging armour and greaves? What were they thinking? What if I want to have a topless Nord barbarian run around like Conan, but still have him wear trousers?
They're going the same way as with Fallout 3 huh... well, if they still have the extra, mostly unused slots (Body Addon 1-3) then modders will fix it. Unless you're planning to play on a console, that is. But who would want to do that?
...Me

I'd much rather have it on my console. My PC isn't really great as far as gaming goes and I'd much rather sit in front of my TV than get distracted by Skype or Facebook xD

The problem here isn't that the idea itself is BAD, but that it's been done before by Fable 3 and was executedly BADLY there. I have faith that Bethesda can get it right.

It will be nice to have a little more personal involvement with the world other than:

I need your help! --> *Slay bandits* --> *Retreieve precious artifact* --> Thank you! --> Never see or hear from that character again.

Besides, every NPC in Oblivion had a dispossion level which dictated how much they liked you and let's not even mention that God-Awful "Persuassion Wheel." So what's so bad about doing a little task to get someone to like you more? It's more realistic and certainly better than running around bribing everyone... which always seemed odd to me, surely SOMEONE in Cyrodil had some trace of integrity?

For me, as long as there are more than 2 voice actors per species, I'm sold.

Same here. There is just too much money in casuals to ignore them. I don't think we will ever get a proper RPG-style game from Bethesda again.

I mean, c'mon, RPGs have never been about player skill and are all about the stats that represent your character. Morrowind NAILED it where your character could be weak, and no amount of skillful playing could compensate for that. Yet it still offered the feeling that the player was the character, so they would know what they could handle and what they couldn't. Yet despite all that, Skyrim seems oblivion-bent on making the game a hack-'n-slash with virtually no RPG elements. Why even call it a RPG then?
ACTUALLY:

Morrowind had nice lore but poor main quest design and it was TOO hardcore on the rpg skills system with too long travelling time. It did got the charactarezation right, you cant be, say a thief and kill everyone like it happens with games nowdays.

I guess what they try to do in oblivion is provide a simplier control/stats theme and make it more fps/action like, more fable/bioshock if you wish.

The question is, will they get the roleplaying right? But as far as i can say at this state peopel who loved morrowind for being a hardcore rpg and bashed oblivion for being dumbed down and consolish, will discover a fable/mass effect2/bioshcok here and not a proper sequel to morrowind that will pay up for oblivion infact it will make oblivion look like a "complex" rpg.
Here's a good solution then: Don't fucking call it "The Elder Scrolls V." Problem solved. I'm sure if people didn't have such a hard-on for brand recognition, everyone would be clamoring about "Bethesda's new hack-'n-slash adventure game"

Don't care, but the NPC shown in that article is stunningly attractive.

Then again, I have been playing Oblivion for the past few days and staring at flat expressionless faces.

Well when you stare at pieces of meat flapping around with words coming out of them for a few days, anything could look attractive in comparison xD

Wasn't the merging of the cuirass and greaves done to reduce the amount that needs to be rendered and avoid clipping issues? being able to have more people on the screen and more types of armor is also a +1 for the game.

Plus, how good did your character look when he wasn't wearing chest and leggings of the same set?
Yeah, but they should put in a 'hide cuirass' option the same way you can hide your helmet in some games.
That would be cool, can't remember if Oblivion had a "hide helmer" option. But eh, mods will fix any minor issues though.

Yeah that's totally what elder scrolls was missing. A nagging wife, house chores and the medieval equivalent of an office job.
You my friend, sum up what is wrong with this idea. It doesn't have to be like this, but I certainly don't feel any bit of romantically involved with anything in the Elder Scrolls Universe so far, even Skyrim won't make me want to marry someone.

it's one new addition... just one... marriage... which you don't even HAVE to do... it's a possibility, not a requirement.
why is everybody crying? and how does this make Skyrim like Fable? for having one thing in common? well, boo-freakin'-hoo. HEY, THEY USE MELEE WEAPONS! that means they're like every basic RPG in the last 30 bloody years. stop whining about something that isn't required to do, but just a random addition.
I personally think it could be a fun addition... getting a wife, killing her, running from guards. Sounds great!

*nudge nudge*

You didn´t hear this from me!
...you totally heard that from me.

Edit: Here´s a thought.
I wonder what would happen if I had 2 wives in different cities.
And they would meet.

If they can script that in... I would be abusing that so freaking much!

"Who is SHE?!"
"You have another WIFE?!"
"What about Billy?"
"You have a child with HER?! you said you never wanted those annoying hellspawn!"
"Daddy? Am I a hellspawn?"

Me: Ohh.. this is just priceless!

This mechanic in itself isn't an issue to me. I mean....I probably wont have anything to do with it, and if I do, it will probably be to murder my wife to get more evil points (in my own head, please PLEASE don't let them add a morality system). But this, coupled with the console to pc port, and the Fallout 3 perks, and the simplified armour....I'm starting to worry a bit.

Bethesda is really losing ground with me. I'm all for 'better borrowed then thought up badly' but their 'borrowing' the wrong things.
Note that relationships have next to nothing to do with Fable. It's just a mechanic.
I also think it's a shitty idea they included dragons for that matter. The dragons are gonna be the new 'oblivion gates'. think about it and you know what i mean.
The problem with Oblivion Gates was they were repetitive and took too long to complete. Dragon fights shouldn't take any time at all - you can even ignore them. Like you could do to Oblivion Gates.
I just hope they fix the NPC's conversations and hire plenty of voiceactors this time around, for the rest it will be good (enough) and else i will mod it myself if i have to,
Already confirmed. I think they have 75 voice actors right now.

Well yes, if you can ignore a fire-breathing dragon shooting fire at you from the sky and by ignoring that you must be playing on very easy or be invincible, i will probably be dodging and fighting that, so i wont have to reload a save. Same as you could not ignore the Daedra that guarded every gate that popped up and assaulted you as you came riding through to somewhere else and bitchsmacking you from your horse. Running away does not suit the barbarians or mages i usually play either.
I was really hoping for some more exotic creatures then the 'standard' fantasy setting, like the ones found in Shivering Isles and Morrowind. I know they said it would have that 'exotic' touch as well, but i haven't seen any screenshots of that as of today.

I'm really miffed they made consoles the main development focus since that will remove TES from the list of 'best looking games' on release since i want to play this on my PC and not my console (because of mods ofcourse, tying it into Steam wont help in that department either but that is another issue) Can only hope they make a descent DX11 patch/version like Crytek did with Crysis to escape that (but have that ready to go on release and not afterwards, shame on you Crytek) but i haven't found any information towards that either.
This is the whole issue when i complain about 'borrowing' and mechanics are a big part of that as well.
We will just have to wait and see how it actually plays out. I know it wont be a bad game, i just dont think it will be as good as i think it could be.

When real people are marrying less, video game companies decide to include it more and more in their games.

Most people who love the Elder Scrolls games aren't interesting in digital marriage but alas, game companies think we all want to play The Sims. I remember playing a Harvest Moon game on the Gamecube and being forced to get married, then play with the kid, etc.. There wasn't enough hours in the day to tend to the farm, much less play with the damn kid. I didn't play long after that.

Yeah, but they should put in a 'hide cuirass' option the same way you can hide your helmet in some games.
Where is the info that you are getting for this. I'm pretty sure on g4's e3 coverage I seen an elven cuirass and a set of elven greaves when they showed the inventory screen.
Look again. There's "armour", "gloves" and "boots" but no greaves. It was speculated on the official forum that they had merged cuirass and greaves after that video was released, and a Bethesda employee confirmed it in a recent fan interview:

3) Is armor handled like in Oblivion (with each body part being welded together) or in Morrowind (with each body part separate)? Will you be able to wear both clothes and armor at the same time?

Matt: The armor system is very similar to Oblivion?s. The main difference is that the upper and lower body armors, the cuirass and greaves, have been combined into one piece. This helps create armor styles that have the look we needed for Skyrim. In most of the Nordic designs we created, the upper armor would completely cover the lower armor, making it unnecessary. We get much better visual results combining those pieces, and it renders a lot faster too, so we can put more people on screen, so that was an easy tradeoff for us. We can also make a lot more armors now, so the number and variation types are more than we?ve ever had.
