Three posts about a game that wouldn't change anything at all? The internet isn't a conspiracy. Judging by your reply, you must be an expert in the 'field' of angry post that aim to destabilise a game. Tell me, how does on refine himself in this pointless art? On that note, have you even played Skyrim?
Yes, i did, quite a lot actually.

Lose the sarcasm and the attitude, it's not doing you any good.

I have to admit you have a point - or, you WOULD have if the game elements being criticized weren't so pervasive. I mean, would you be suspicious if three users turned up in a Call of Duty thread and all of them criticized Call of Duty for being shallow?
Actually if they registered all within 3 days yeah i probably would. No matter though, some points are valid but criticizing a Bethesda game for being open-ended ? really ? that's like criticizing my house because it has a roof, that's something everybody should be expecting.
We're not (or at least I'm not) criticizing it for being open-ended. I enjoyed the Buck Rogers, Dragon Age and the Might & Magic series, which were all fairly open ended but managed to tell interesting tales with flair.

I found that the variety of the dungeons was fine, very good actually. I think someone of you are wanting areas to look drastically different, forgetting that areas need to have a similar look in order for a player to tell whether their in a cave, a dungeon, ruins, ect. Yeah, there are similar set pieces in every area, but they arranged and varied the layout of each area that I haven't found 2 of the same looking rooms in a dungeon so far. The only parts of each dungeon that was obviously used several times were the hallways full of shelved draugh bodies, and the puzzles. If you are complaining about it still, look at Oblivion's areas. Huge improvement if you ask me.

Combat is better, more fluid. Dual-wielding adds more variety to play style in combat, although it can be a bit unbalanced at times, but once you get the skill high enough, you'll have no problems.

Believe it or not, Dragons aren't the hardest enemies to fight. You'll find at some point some enemies that pose an actual threat. If it's still easy for you... you can crank the difficulty up.
Some flaws are the bugs that occur every now and then. There's only one I've found to be game breaking. I don't like that I can't rotate the camera while I'm moving or when I'm in combat stance (I have the 360 version at the moment. Don't laugh at me!!) obviously it's because the last available button for that was given to the shouts. Some of the skills are a bit too easy to level up.

It's not perfect, yeah I know. I think too many people were hit with the hype stick, or simply expected far too much. I expected an RPG and I got one, an awesome one :)

Well, yes. It's certainly not the jewel encrusted solid gold Porsche that people like to make it out as, but it's not necessarily a less valuable solid bronze shitter, either. I like to think that Bethesda at least tried to do a good job, but of course, getting right down to it, Skyrim isn't all that special. I understand what you're saying about the story being not all that interesting, because I'm experiencing it. It's true, the characters aren't memorable. Hell, I was doing one of the main quests not fifteen minutes ago, and I can't for the life of me remember who the hell gave it to me, the exact reason why, or the people I interacted with during the quest.

And yes, the dragons started off as being epic, but then became just a nuisance. "Why yes, Blood Dragon, you are SO very powerful, roaring and flying around that jagged mountain, but if you aren't going to land so I can get this over with, then I'm just continuing on my merry way." I've also ran into a bugged main quest, I guess I'm just not allowed to complete the story? Indeed, the UI was designed for consoles, and yes, it's a little disappointing.

But I'm not disappointed with the game as a whole. I didn't go in expecting a golden Porsche with jewel encrusted rims, snow leopard seats, and a device in the dashboard that turns your piss into Coffee, for use on long road trips. As such, I didn't come out dragging a bronze crapper behind me. Instead, I expected a nice, silver crown, and Bethesda didn't fail to deliver it to me. But soon, it will just be another one of my odd gaming curios resting on a shelf. Something interesting to show a friend maybe, but nothing to write home about.

Well, if you're the type of gamer who plays lots and lots of games, something worth buying probably seems great when weighed against the unplayable crap that gets shoveled into your lap.

Here is what I really like about the game, and it's little things.

just to make it clear, Role playing becomes a huge thing when I get bored with questing. I just start messing around with my skills, arrange things in my house to make it look all awesome, walk around town like a normal person would to go buy stuff, and other things.

anywho.
buckets, baskets, ect actually have space to where you can put things in it!!
or you can just place them over someones head which is always funny. But anyways, I can use this to store items in a different way instead of stacking them on shelves. Just toss a couple average potions into it for later use or for looks. You could toss several ingredients into it for the same purpose if you like.

What I also found kinda cool is that the jaws of the skulls you pick up are separate geometry and move like a jaw would when flinging it around. Of course, the jaw would realistically just fall off as there is now muscle to keep it attached, but it doesn't matter.

Yes, these sort of things are what can be the difference between average and amazing for me. I start doing all this in between exploring places so that I don't rush myself too quickly.

What it does, it does well. However everything ELSE is lack luster, especially new things, their probably going to release a Skyrim 2 which basically makes the game a better version of itself.

Bethesda made this game to show off a engine, is the engine great? Well its better then the last one but, since their focus was of the ENGINE, the game is a little hit and miss.

I guess I'm not part of EVERYONE!!! I really like the game but like I said in another thread, I've had a lot better experiences in other games.

Your pretty spot on with everything. It's just RPG's are more addicting to some people (like me), it's new (so fanboy's will hype it up), and most games I've played have a very predictable cliche' story, so I usually expect it before I play any game (sadly).

you played it for 30-40 hours and its only been out for a couple of weeks. How many singleplayer games this year could keep you entertained that much?

Majority opinion, myself included, find that many aspects of the game that you described as lackluster are really, really good. That's all. People have different tastes. You're not missing out, you just don't get the same enjoyment level out of the game as a lot of other people do.

I mean hell, I didn't enjoy Oblivion, and that game was heralded as the second coming of Christ when it came out.

This. I could not agree more. Well said

I liked Fallout 3 and New Vegas, so it just came to me as a surprise that I only thought that Skyrim was above average. Those games had choices, challenging gameplay, consequences and actual memorable characters. You had to specialise your character, choose your skills carefully. Nothing of the sort seems to be apply to Skyrim.
You had to specialize your skills and character in Fallout 3? I had 1 perception and was a perfect sniper. There was no specialty at all in that game. There were three attributes(int, str, agy) that everyone got unless they were stupid and failed to realize that the other ones didn't do anything except unlock perks. And of the aforementioned perks you were allowed to pick like 95% of them. And you leveled up like crazy. Where was the specialization? Because I honestly never saw it. The only thing I can think of is that you have been playing New Vegas where the character creation system has been categorically improved but still not to the level of say Fallout 1&2 or Arcanum.

Conversely while things like lockpicking and sneaking are hilariously easy and basically don't require you to spend perk points on them at all you still have to actually specialize in a few things as far as attack and defense are concerned, which is far more than F3 ever had.

Good GOD this is like the 10th thread today someone posts "Skyrim's okay... but why does everyone like it".

JESUS CHRIST people have different tastes then you, learn to use the search bar and read the thousands of responses people have made to topics exactly like this.

I honestly think people just make these threads to get attention now.

Oblivion felt empty to me. All the Fallouts had going for them was atmosphere.

This is a genuinely good game. Bethesda's first game that can be described as a good game, rather than just a game with a good atmosphere.

I like Skyrim because you hate it.

If you ever begin to enjoy it, I will hate it and criticize you for it.

Skyrim is a very good game but it suffers from the same problem that plagues all sandboxes that get too big for their own good. After playing it for many many hours, the hype died down for me. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very good game, I rate it as high as Morrowind(comparing it to Oblivion is like Witcher 2 being compared to DA2, they are in so apart in quality that it's not funny) but I started having Fallout and Morrowind flashbacks while playing it: I realized that I'm having nearly the same experience, but with dragons dropping in on my head instead of cliff racers.

I suppose Bethesda can't really escape this tedium setting in but seriously, in these games(fallout 3, morrowind, skyim) I had nearly the same experience: being really hyped up about the game I start it, create the character, set out in the world, wanting to explore most of it(comes from being a gamer with 100% syndrome), do 2-3 main quests to get the story going and then I am set free in the world. For a while(maybe a week, maybe 2) everything is super, I am leveling up, forging new armor, sneaking like crazy and stealing s**t, defeating, you know all the rpg'ish things. Then I get bored upon entering my 30th freaking cave and decide to do the main quest if only to see a game ending or something(close the freaking narrative), only to be faced with standard fantasy fare BS about saving the world.

Skyrim is a VERY GOOD game but the genre does have certain inherent drawbacks and I think there is such a thing as having a world that's too big. I wish it was smaller but the content was more meaningful story wise. Oh, there is one thing that can be held against Bethesda: MAKING DRAGON FIGHTS BORING. I never thought I would type this sentence but there it is. The only genuinely frightening fights were at low level. Once you level up and get some cool gear with enchantments and resist frost/fire/restore healt/stamina potions you're set. I'm level 46 on expert and only the really high level dragons bother me. It kinda sucks to see a dragon in the sky and basically wanting to go towards it so you can kill it instead of trying to approach with caution cause you know, it's a goddam dragon. My first though upon seeing dragons now is "yey, another soul for my shout and hello dragon armor ingredients".

I don't think I should have more trouble with humans than with dragons, regardless of my level.

Sorry for a vague answer, but to find the answer to your question, you really need to use the search bar because Skyrim threads are the new thing right now and we should really minimize the quantity.

And since I've never been hooked to a game like this for some time, it must be great for me, especially because I don't care what the rest of you think about it.

A game can be advertised like crazy, but if it won't be good, people won't get crazy about it. This game delivered everything it promised in my opinion and I'll go play it right now bye ;)

I really dont think It was necessary to make a thread, If you really wanted to know you should just read through a couple of the threads about Skyrim right here in the Gaming Forums, it gives a pretty good idea of what people liked in Skyrim.

Skyrim is a Bethesda game through and through, you what others love is what you could hate :L
Yeah, except that all the threads about Skyrim go "OMGITSAWESOMECAUSEITSBETHESDA!!!111one". Which says nothing about the game. Personally I wouldn't touch anything bethesda with a 40 ft. pole. But what do I know? Buggy repetetive brown games are obviously fun and innovative and should be bought asap to give the studio that produced it more money to make more buggy repetetive brown games. Unless its Fallout, in which case it's not a buggy repetetive brown elder's scroll with a gun, but a buggy repetetive green elder's scroll with a gun.
