Did I hit some kind of soft spot to you? Do comparisons to Dark Souls really piss you off, jeez. If the enemy AI is half as good as Dark Souls, Skyrim will be better then Oblivion.
Yeah, the comparisons do piss me off due to how many douchey DS fans have been doing it as of late. We get it, you want to seem cool by toting your OMG HARDCOAR game above the ? mainstream? pick Skyrim. Shut the hell up about it already.
...but it's ok for you to be a huge douche about TES? Sorry that I'm not sucking on Bethesda's dick and responding to the OPs question. Next time I'll send you a PM so you can decide whether my opinion is valid or not.

TES is a very bland and boring game that only redeeming factor is it's environment and pretty graphics (which isn't even well thought out, where did the food come from in Oblivion? I certainly didn't see any farmland nor livestock).

There was farmland and livestock. To name a few, Skingrad had grapes, Anvil has potatoes, corn stalks, grapes, pumpkins, tobacco plants, and tomato plants. And there were farms with crops. http://images.uesp.net/0/00/OB-place-Odiil_Farm.jpg

Venison, deer in the woods, mutton, the sheep, rat meat (rats derrr) the only one that doesn't fit is beef, because there isn't any cows. But still, imports. There are so many neat quests, going into a painting, dealing with a haunted house, finding the lighthouse place with all the dead animals and the homage to Friday the 13th. Bland? Pfft.

Try picking up the game and playing it for a bit.

I remember the haunted house, but where do you get the lighthouse and painting quests?

As long as modding is friendly, and I can substitute in a mod for something I dont like, than just about any problem I have with it can be overlooked; unless, you know, its a bug that makes my PC explode in lava or something.

I'm sorry, i'm not able to look at that video from where I'm typing now, but surely a website that reviews a game months before it comes out isn't able to examine it properly? I just kind of want to know the point, that review is from August, is it on the demo copy?

Repetitive dungeons. 120+ dungeons isn't really a selling point if they all look like this

I remember reading somewhere that all the dungeons like that in Oblivion were designed by one person, and in Skyrim they're done by 8 people...so youll experience 8 times less of the repetitiveness :p ha ha

I think the only things that will annoy me are some of the changes to the menus (minor I know) but it takes away from the overall atmosphere unlike the menus in oblivion like inventory and maps not the title screen stuff. But in game wise the only thing I can think of is that because you can use nothing but magic if you choose I've got a feeling that you will constantly run out of stuff (forgot what its called in oblivion I do want to say magicka to cast spells with

If the voice acting sucks as much as Oblivion, I'm going to cry. Also it'll be unfortunate if it feels smaller than previous TES games, although I seriously doubt that will be an issue--Oblivion was no bigger than a reasonably-sized state park, as became very obvious from Dive Rock, and Morrowind looked like a bizarre miniature golf course when you turned the fog off. All Skyrim has to do is convince me that I'm in a small section of a Nordic mountain range, and not obviously in a strange, distance-compressed arena.

Otherwise, though, it's difficult to think of any reason I might dislike it.

Something you said is the only thing I'm worried about- an overabundance of dragons.

I'm really glad there's an unlimited amount, but it's as you said, if I come across them on EVERY DAMN TREK I make, I'll be disappointed. Not only will that wear out their welcome (and oh what a welcome they have) but it'll make Dragon Shouts far to easy to max out, which I don't want.
There is only 1 documented dragon that appears regardless of the X factors mentioned, and that is for a quest.

If it DOES suck, I still have Saint's Row The Third to look forward to.

I never pre-order games I don't have faith in, I belive in Bethesda to give me my money's worth.

Lighthouse is part of the Dark Brotherhood. Just murder someone and sleep. Progress through that story which is a good one and not bland at all, then the one where you go into a painting is in Cheydinhal. Just some random rumors or whatever to start. Or go directing to the dudes house, his name is Rythe Lythandas.

Also that review was pretty stupid. I am almost certain that is wasn't meant to be taking seriously, but if it was, oh man.

One way it could suck is if they over-do or under-do the dragons. In other words, if the dragons show up everywhere or if the dragons are near impossible to find. I'm sure there's tons of other ways but I'm this is the only realistic problem to assume it will have.

Dunno, I'm looking forward to it but I'm not wetting myself in excitement. So if it turns out bad I'll just go play some FNV

There are a few things about Oblivion that I hated that I really don't want to see carry over to Skyrim. First of all is the levelling system and how it works with the stats. You wanna get your +5 to 3 stats? You gotta train your minor skills that you didn't pick precisely because you didn't want to train them! It's a pain in the ass to grind them up just so my character can be as strong as he can be, so I modded the hell out of that system.

Second thing, the dungeons. Oblivion, the ruins, caves, they all feel exactly the goddamn same as the others. Is it so wrong that I want a little variety in my caves? The towns are pretty well varied though.

Third thing, the combat. Why do can I only swing my sword in front of me like a pillock when my skill is 100 and I am acknowldged as the greatest master swordsman in the land? Why can't I do any thrusting attacks with it, or counter an attacking opponent for massive damage, or hell, why can't I cut an arrow down in midflight? Why are bows so damn weak? If I hit that bandit in the head with an arrow, I expect it should die pretty easily. And at higher levels they probably won't die within 5 headshots.

And finally, the friggen level scaling. What is the goddamn point of levelling if every other thing in the game is going to level with me? Why is the best way to get the best weapons and armour to rob the same goddamn bandits in the same goddamn place giving me the exact same goddamn trouble that they did 30 levels ago!? Where did they even get that stuff??? They're bandits for god's sake! It makes no sense! Why is a troll always the same difficulty for me to bring down, whether I'm a novice adventurer fresh out of prison or the most skilled practitioner of swordsmanship and magic in the world?!

If I can have these things fixed, improved upon or cut out completely then Skyrim can easily be my GotY. But if it doesn't, it can turn into the biggest disappointment and possibly worth getting a refund on.
